Kiska padded carefully through the woodlands, taking special care to memorise every tree and rock that was in her way. She never knew when these things would come in handy, be it in a battle or in a simple race. The she-wolf was quite new to the region, having just joined a pack. She had decided to dedicate this day to exploration. Hopefully she would have the area memorised by dusk. Hearing the quiet footsteps of another animal, the black wolf stilled suddenly. Was she about to be ambushed in her own home? Flicking her ears back and opening her jaw slightly, she prepared for a fight, even as she kept all other parts of her body carefully neutral. Maybe this new wolf might be a friend.

Obsidian loped quickly through the forest, making sure to keep his steps light. Though his pace was brisk, he moved quietly; the only sounds he made were barely noticeable, generally just the brush of a footstep here and there. He'd not hunted much lately, and so he'd been spending his day thus far stalking his pack's territory, following the scent trails of deer and the like. As he stepped through a small copse of trees, he noticed he was not alone; the sudden revelation nearly caused him to charge the animal, until he recognized the shape as a wolf. Noticing that the wolf was of his pack, Obsidian relaxed further, the look in his amber eyes changing from warily hostile to a calm neutral. "Hello," he said in way of greeting, his voice only just loud enough to carry to the female; though he knew she was a member of Artemis Scouts, mostly because of her scent, he did not recognize her, and so the massive black male made sure to introduce himself. "I'm Obsidian. Who are you, if you don't mind my asking?"

As the other wolf greeted her, she relaxed slightly. She knew of him, certainly, seeing as he was in her pack. She supposed it was understandable that he didn't know who she was. She hand't really met any other wolves since she had joined the pack, but she knew that soon, she would be fighting side by side with them in a battle. It was only a matter of time. And when that time came, she would like to know the wolves she was fighting with. "Hello to you too. I'm Kiska, an assassin." She spoke softly, matching his tone.

"A pleasure to meet you, Kiska the assassin," he replied, dipping his head respectfully. Bringing his amber gaze back up to the she-wolf, Obsidian had another thought, and so he voiced it. "What are you doing out here, just out of curiosity?" he asked; of course, she had as much right as any wolf of Artemis Scouts to be here, but he was genuinely curious, as this portion of the territory was most often patrolled by hunters; it wasn't even close to a border. The male suspected that Kiska was simply getting a lay of the land, and so he waited to hear if his theory was correct or not.

Kiska nodded respectfully to Obsidian in her turn. Taking his question in the polite spirit it had been intended in, she wondered what to say. It had always been a natural reaction for her to lie about her motives and reasons. It came, she supposed, from being a lone wolf, overly suspicious of everyone, anticipating how they would react and giving away as little of herself as possible. But she was in a pack now, and realised that she should at least trust the other pack members, including Obsidian. "I'm getting a feel for our land. It could make the difference between life and death in a tough situation." In truth, Kiska was not fully aware of her duties as an assassin, including where she should be patrolling. She simply did the best she could.

Obsidian nodded; that was a logical enough reason, and he'd come to the same conclusion. He thought a moment, considering what he was about to say carefully, and decided that it was a completely reasonable thing to say to a new pack mate. "If you want, I could show you around a bit. We've got a lot of territory, and you may not be able to infer the importance of some places alone." Though he wasn't necessarily embarassed about having offered, he did feel a bit awkward; he was better at hunting and tracking than he was at trying to get to know new wolves. He shrugged it off, though; if he could offer one of his pack members assistance, he would provide it.

Kiska stared suspiciously at Obsidian for a moment. She wasn't quite used to other wolves offering their help. After all, why would Obsidian want to help her? But then she remembered that they were in a pack now. Wasn't this the whole reason why she had joined a pack in the first place? To have someone to help her and depend on? Swallowing her suspicion and pride, she nodded in thanks. She appreciated Obsidian's help in this case, and what he said was true. She had no idea what places in the territory would be significant. "Sure, thank you. I doubt I would have gotten the important bits of the territory on my own."

Though he made sure not to show it, Obsidian was relieved; he knew from experience that lone wolves tended to be prideful, and it wouldn't have been very comfortable for either of them had she declined. "I'm sure you would have found out their uses eventually; this way is simply quicker and easier," he replied after a moment, then turned and began walking, keeping his pace brisk, but not too fast for conversation. "So, I assume you wish to see places of strategic importance, correct?" he asked, recalling several specific locations as he did so. "Of course, I'll show you the more scenic bits of the territory as well, if you would like," the male added after a moment, his voice still quiet, though the neutrality had slipped away from his tone, replaced by a calm, friendly confidence that he believed would fit the conversation more appropriately.

Kiska nodded towards Obsidian. Loping after him, she smiled as Obsidian spoke. She appreciated his friendlier tone and attitude towards her, and shifted her own tone accordingly. "Yes, that was the plan. I'd appreciate seeing the scenic bits too, if you don't mind." Kiska, though an assassin, was not unappreciative of beauty. Far from that. In fact, she was simply a wolf who could get the job done without being overly enthralled. Seeing both the strategic and scenic parts of the territory sounded perfect to her.

Obsidian grinned, relieved once again as he noticed the shift in Kiska's voice. "I'd love to," Obsidian replied, his grin widening as he thought of the myriad sights to be seen on Artemis Scouts' territory. Shortly after, he lead Kiska around a rather obtrusive boulder, then stopped. "Though I can't exactly claim to be a battle expert, I know the use this spot could have in a fight," the male announced; the stone seemed to have rolled down a nearby hill, likely long ago, and it now rested firmly between two trees. The side they were on was easy to climb, as the boulder had been broken, and a natural ramp lead to the top. Picking his way along carefully, Obsidian glanced down the other side; it was a sheer drop to the forest floor, but not high enough to cause damage to the wolf doing the jumping. He turned back to Kiska, and said, "I believe this spot doesn't require much explanation." Though his tone was rather matter of fact, it had lost none of its friendliness, and he found that it was because he was already used to Kiska. Shrugging, the male leapt from the rock, emphasizing the advantage that the boulder held, and looked back up, waiting to see of the she-wolf would do the same.

Kiosk returned Obsidian's grin with a soft smile of her own, happy that she might have possibly made a friend. Following Obsidian to the boulder, she studied it with a critical eye. It surely seemed to be good place for an attack, if she was on the run-down side, that was. She could already think of dozens of great ways to use this boulder, including using this as a vantage point. Following Obsidian carefully up the ramp, she watched as he jumped down from the rock, landing neatly. Kiska grinned widely at the other wolf, and turned, padding back down the rock. She would give him just enough time to become curious and then... Running with all her might back up the ramp, she launched herself off the boulder, hoping to land on Obsidian. She was careful to use just the right amount of force though. She didn't want to hurt the other wolf.

Watching Kiska turn back, Obsidian cocked his head to the side, surprised that she'd prefer the ramp. His surprise turned into curiosity as he waited for the she-wolf to make her way down; opening his mouth to call out to her, he stopped himself as he heard a scuffling sound coming from the boulder. Turning his attention back to the top of the rock, Obsidian had just enough time to widen his eyes in alarm before Kiska landed on him, toppling him to the ground. "Get off, you fur ball!" he exclaimed with a grin, rolling out from under the female in order to shake the dust from his pelt. "You'll pay for that," he added with an amused smirk, already coming up with a plan to get the she-wolf back.

Kiska watched as she landed on Obsidian. With a quiet smirk, she leapt to her paws and dipped her head. "I'd like to see you try." She barked challengingly, though she was pretty sure that Obsidian would manage to best her. He seemed like a smart wolf, smart enough to outthink her. Still, Kiska would be on her guard. "So now that we have seen the amazing tactical advantage of this boulder, where next?" She said teasingly, but without malice.

Instead of replying, Obsidian just grinned; he'd find an opportunity, of that he was sure. Turning to face Kiska, the male lashed out with a paw, careful not to use too much strength, and batted one of the she-wolf's ears. It wasn't much, but it would do for now; he would think of something better at some point. Spinning around, Obsidian bolted; he had a destination in mind, but would lead the female there instead of explaining. "You'll see," was the only further response the male supplied, grinning as he wove between the trees, careful not to draw too far ahead so that Kiska could follow him without becoming lost.

Kiska flinched slightly and leapt backwards, not expecting that. Well, she would have to be more on her guard then. Obsidian seemed to have something in mind, and with his superior knowledge of the land here, he could easily lead her into a trap. Seeing Obsidian dart away, Kiska followed, though at a steadier pace. She knew that Obsidian would wait for her. After all, what was the point in a tour if the tourist got lost? Hopefully she could spot any trap that was coming. She wasn't entirely optimistic though...
