As the last of the weak leaf-fall sunlight fled the nursery, leaving the already chilly den even colder, Shadekit stirred; he'd been making an effort at sleep, though he hadn't had a lot of success. Heaving a great sigh- well, what would have been a great sigh, had he been a bit older- the stark white tom lifted himself out of his soft, mossy nest, careful not to disturb any of the other cats who might be trying to get to sleep. Slowly, the fluffy little tom made his way toward the entrance of the den, hoping to catch a glimpse of the moon; he'd seen it only once before, and it had been spectacular. As he entered the shadow of the entrance, Shadekit noticed another shape staring out, though whether they shared the young tom's interest, he did not know. "Hello," he said to the figure, careful to keep his voice quiet, only just loud enough to carry to the other cat, bright eyes full of curiosity at the prospect of meeting someone new.

Nightkit was having difficulty sleeping. Why sleep at clearly the most mysterious and yet beautiful part of the day? He was able to see in the dark very well, and not just the ordinary night vision, as if his piercing yellow eyes were flashlights. He loved how he was able to hide in the shadows, only revealing his eyes. He silently crept towards the entrance of the nursery, hoping to catch a glimpse of the moon, to felt it shining on his pelt once again. He was gazing at the starry night sky, when suddenly a silent mew "Hello" caused him to swiftly turn his head. His glowing yellow eyes glared at the kit who had startled him. His pelt was almost in total contrast to his own, and he was clearly visible. He sighed and softened his gaze. "You nearly gave me a heart attack!" He sat down facing the other kit, his tail wrapped around his paws.

"Sorry," the little white kit replied, sitting down across from the other tom as he fixed him with his curious stare. The kit's coloring was the exact opposite of Shadekit's own, with the exception of the conspicuous black spot that marred the center of his chest. "Are you hoping for a glimpse of the moon as well?" he asked inquisitively, peering past the black tom for a peek himself. "Oh, I'm Shadekit, by the way," he added absentmindedly, his attention focused wholeheartedly on the glittering starscape of the night sky.

"Yeah, how did you know?" His whiskers twitched, in anticipation of the answer.
"You don't have mind reading powers do you?" He crouched defensively, his eyes betraying his fear.
"Because my mind is my own, and nobody else can read it!" he hissed, claws unsheathed.

"What are you on about?" Shadekit asked, his questing gaze finally locking onto the silvery sphere that hung perfectly in the night sky. Pulling his eyes away from the spectacle above, the little white tom noticed the aggressive posture the other kit had taken, and he rolled his eyes. "Of course I don't have mind reading powers; don't be absurd," he said, perhaps a bit harshly, indignant at the other kit's completely unfounded and entirely nonsensical accusations. "And, just so you're aware, it's common courtesy to introduce yourself to those who have introduced themselves to you," he added, his voice becoming matter-of-fact rather than indignant, and he sat back down, curling his tail comfortably around his forepaws.

Nightkit sighed. He let his fur lie flat, and sat upright. He scanned the skies, and found the moon, watching where the other tom's eyes lie.
"Sorry, Shadepaw." He mewed sarcastically. He calmed down, shifting his paws
"Um, sorry again I guess, I'm Nightkit. I guess I freaked out a little bit there, huh." His voice betrayed a hint of humor as he tried to be friendly with the other.

| Usually I was not one to get copious amounts of sleep, but when you spent your nights climbing stone camp walls and getting yelled at, you had to have a night with more than an hour or so of sleep. Apparently that was not going to be tonight. At voices, I uncurled from my sleeping position and weaved around the different sized nests littering the floor of the nursery. Curiously, I crept forwards, aiming to not only not be seen, but to listen in. I pressed myself into the shadows, only taking a moment to curse that the majority of my fur was white. It wasn't as if my black paws and tail would be of much use if I decided to stake out. Why couldn't I have looked more like my father? With enough background information gathered, I popped up behind the dark furred kitten and bellowed out a 'boo!' noise. I had a sharp grin on my muzzle as I relished in the possibility of causing fear in one or both, although I did get the feeling I would hardly scare the white one. Oh well, the darker furred cat seemed to be more skittish with these things based on his accusations of mind reading. I stepped off to the side, the moonlight finally hitting my white face and pale eyes. I gave what I considered to be a winning smile, little white fangs poking out an all, before curled my black tail around my paws. "The name's Mistkit, although I don't suppose either of you really invited me to say that." | | | | | notes/tags |

"Just a bit," Shadekit replied, a wry smile spreading slowly across his face. "I mean, really, mind reading?" he asked, purring a bit as he thought about just how ridiculous the accusation truly was. Before he could say any more, the sleek white shape of another, older kit melted out from the shadows, a devious grin plastered across her face as she let out a "Boo!" Shadekit took it in stride; if anything, he was more curious as to how a cat with a pelt the color of fresh snow had blended so well into the inky blackness. "No, I suppose we didn't. But it's a pleasure to meet you all the same. I'm Shadekit," he replied, giving Mistkit a cursory glance with his bright amber gaze.

Nightkit was at ease, watching the night sky, as if it was all he could see. However it was sadly not to last. Suddenly he heard a loud noise coming from behind him. "Boo!" It said, and Nightkit swiftly turned around, jumping slightly, his short fur spiking up, as he hissed and lashed out a paw, his eyes glowing in fury, nearly the only thing you could see in the dark. He glared intimidatingly at the older white kit, "Who are you?! And what are you doing?! Good thing you're not an intruder or I would've clawed your ear off!" He hissed, fury in his voice.
He let his fur lie flat, still irritated. "Mistkit? Well that was a pretty rotten thing to do! Do you do that to every cat you meet?" His fur bristled again slightly. Oh, and Shadekit agrees? Great. He must me the laughing stock of the night. Just what he needed. Two kits trying to get on his bad side. All he wanted was to see the night sky! What luck! " Well while you two are getting to know each other, I'll just lie here." And so he did, and the floor was cold. He wasn't going to go back on what he said though, and stayed there, looking up at the sky once again.

| I'd swiftly pulled my head back to dodge the swing of a paw, grinning somewhat wildly at the tomcat who has been victim to my little prank. I rolled my eyes at him, flicking my tail in dismissal. "Me? Just enjoying the night sky. Why do you ask?" My mouth curved into a cruel smile as I blinked at him. I wasn't fazed by his threats to 'claw my ears off'; He'd have to grow tall enough to reach them first. I rather enjoyed aggravating other kittens and seeing how they reacted. I generally wasn't a people-pleaser, my mouth spouting out cruel words and taunts. Maybe I was just blunt. Cats didn't seem to like blunt. "Only the ones who accuse others of mind reading," I meowed with a snort. I raised a 'brow' at his reaction, whiskers twitching as I chuckled lightly. "Oh, sorry. Did I intrude on your special time with your boyfriend or are you just so bitter that you got scared? You're acting pretty childish with this pouting. I said 'boo' and you reacted accordingly. Get over it." I looked over to Shadekit, a smile falling onto my face. "Good to meet you, I supposed your angry little friend doesn't want to give me his name, does he?" | | | | | notes/tags |

Shadekit sighed inwardly, the thought of where this conversation was likely to go draining him, and said, "No, I'd say he doesn't. But his name's Nightkit." The tom doubted the other kit would appreciate his name being given to his tormentor without his consent, but he'd get over it; he had no wish to sit in as a passive spectator as the other two kit's argued, and this seemed like the best way to diffuse the situation. "Nightkit," he said, turning his gaze on the black tom, "It is entirely up to you, but both of us," he gave Mistkit a meaningful glance at this, "would be happy to have you in the conversation." With that, he sat back down; personally, he was completely fine with Mistkit's bluntness, and indeed found the trait endearing; he wasn't sure that the other tom would feel the same, but he would let this play out as it was destined to play out.

Dreamkit padded around the nursery, bored as ever. She kept padding around until she found (super dramatic pause) the entrance. She bounded towards the entrance, hoping to get to go outside.
