Sunfish padded out of the warriors den. He'd recently been given two new apprentices and he planned to start their training as early as possible. He was going to keep their training individual until they did fighting. They could easily be sparring partners but for now things would be quicker if they'd had separate sessions. Sunfish went out to go find Knotpaw.
He peeked his head into the apprentices den. "@knot, training." He called calmly in a hushed voice. He didn't want to wake any other apprentices except his own. He sat outside of the den waiting for his apprentice to come out for his lesson. Today they'd handle learning the territory.

Knotpaw was sleeping soundly flipped around on his back. When his mentor called in for him the voice woke him up. He opened one eyes and for a second he was very confused as to where he was. Then it hit him and he sprung out of his new nest. Today was training. His mentor was calling him. Knotpaw had wanted to wake up early and untangle his fur, but that would take too long to do now. He rushed out of the den, trying not to worry about how messy his fur would probably look. "I'm here." Knotpaw meowed as he showed up in front of Sunfish.
The older cat seemed really cool, but that opinion hadn't been solidified in Knotpaw's mind yet. He tried to think of a way to make that true. He could always play his little copy-cat game, but if Sunfish got mad that that could make the rest of training pretty awkward. Knotpaw was excited to hear what they'd be doing. Today wasn't fighting because Sunfish had said that him and Sunpaw would probably do that together. He wondered if they would be learning to hunt. He searched his mind to try and figure out what other training lessons they might be doing.

Sunfish smiled as the apprentice woke up and wandered over. He looked out at the way they'd be exiting camp. "We're going to be learning the territory today." He noted aloud. "I'll get to the border, explain the Clan, and you tell me if you have any questions. I think we'll probably get to a bit of hunting today too." He flicked his tail to signal that they were heading out. Sunfish began to make his way to the FireClan border first. He sat down beside the border and looked back over at Knotpaw.
"Borders are to be marked daily. Cats do not cross these borders. If they choose to, well, the rivaling Clan will decide what to do with them." Sunfish himself had crossed the border before. But it was for legitimate reasons, sometimes. FireClan is led by Darkstar and her deputy is Foxtuft. FireClanners live within a flat prairie, which makes them adept to running. The weather in FireClan seems to be a lot warmer than it is here." He explained.
"Any questions about FireClan?"

Knotpaw listened to Sunfish intently. So today they were going through the territory. He could finally see the outside for the first time. He had seen it from a few different vantage points around the camp, but never up close. When Sunfish also mentioned hunting he perked up a bit. Hunting was one of the lessons that Knotpaw was the most looking forward to. He began to follow his mentor as they left camp. He was bouncing on the pads of his paws as he followed the older tom into the territory towards some goal that he wasn't aware of.
When Sunfish stopped Knotpaw stopped too. His nose scrunched a bit as an unfamiliar smell hit him. It smelled like cats, but not familiar ones. Sunfish jumped right into an explanation about borders and Fireclan. Knotpaw tried to make sure that he caught all the information. No crossing the border, the leader was Darkstar, the deputy was Foxtuft, good runner with warm weather. He was pretty he understood all that. He was about to nod and say he understood when a question popped into his head. "Are we on good terms with them?" He asked. He had heard that in the past Iceclan had been in wars against different clans. He wanted to know which ones would be an aid to his clan.

"Err... Well we don't seem on bad terms with them." He shrugged. All the Clans seem to be in peace at the moment. "No one seems to be clashing at the moment." Clans were never really on great terms with each other more like tolerated one another in Sun's eyes. "I don't think IceClan has really allied themselves with anyone in the last few moons. Everyone seems neutral for now." Although, that could easily change.
"Next... Let's visit TreeClan's." He directed his apprentice to the next border and sat down. "TreeClan is situated in a dense forest. They are great climbers and the weather there seems quite neutral. Not too hot or too cold. Leader is Spiderstar and Deputy used to be Magnoliafrost, but is now Arrowstrike."

Knotpaw listened to what Sunfish said in answer to his question. He seemed hesitant, as if even he didn't really know the answer. Knotpaw nodded to show that he understood. Nobody was at war, but nobody were really allies right now. He supposed he wouldn't have to ask the same question about the other clans with the answer he was given. Everybody was just kind of neutral right now.
After Knotpaw's question was answered they began their walk to Treeclan. He was still trying to memorize his way around the parts of the territory they had already walked past. In his mind he was starting to make a short of map. This part of the territory went next to this part, the camp went there. Knotpaw was so caught up in this that when Sunfish stopped he almost ran into his mentor, only just managing to stop. Knotpaw sat once again to listen.
This clan was already noticably different. Where as Fireclan had been flat and mainly grass, Treeclan was mainly trees. Knotpaw couldn't really decipher if it was flat or not. According to Sunfish they were good climbers, their clan was not too hot or too cold, Spiderstar is their leader and they have a new deputy called Arrowstrike. He could probably remember that. Knotpaw had to admit he was getting a little overwhelmed. There were so many new things that he had to take in. He wasn't about to tell Sunfish that though. Knotpaw nodded again to show that he was ready to keep going.

"C'mon, next is RockClan and then we can get to the actually fun stuff. We can go to the river and learn fishing." He led his apprentice to the RockClan border and sat down. "RockClan is located on the rocky cliffs. Their talent is digging. They carve out caves which I assume is for dens. The leader of RockClan is Cloverstar and her deputy is Flamepath. The temperature there is similar to IceClan a little. Although probably not as brutal."
He looked over at Knotpaw. "Our Clan is faced with brutal long winters that begin earlier and end late. Our main source of food from the river is hardly accessible since the river freezes over in leaf bare. We have a talent for jumping. But I like to think we have a pretty good talent for fishing to. Swimming seems to be something only we really do as well." He smiled.
"Be glad to be living in IceClan. There are other places out there besides the four Clans. Loner groups, rogues, DeathClan.. Kittypets."

So Knotpaw was maybe a little excited to start hunting, but the second he heard the words fishing and river he began to worry. His worst fear was water and now his first day in the territory and his mentor was planning to take him to the first and largest water source he had ever seen. His tangled tail began to flick nervously as he followed Sunfish towards the Rockclan border. There were many thoughts whirring through his head, but the idea of figuring out where he was took a back seat to figuring out how to get out of going to the river.
He wasn't really listening as Sunfish as he explained the aspects of Rockclan, but he was smart enough to just completely ignore his mentor, so he managed to tune in to what Sunfish was saying and ignore the idea of water. Knotpaw tuned in just in time to hear that the leader of this clan was Cloverstar, the deputy was Flamepath, and that the weather was more mild, but similar to Iceclan's was. Sunfish then jumped into a description of what Iceclan was like. According to Sunfish the winters were long and harsh. Knotpaw had never experienced a winter yet.
Then the warrior brought up the river again. How it froze over in the winter and that it was a major source of food. If he was scared of water how was he going to help the clan in fishing? According to what Sunfish said the river was a large part of their survival and if he was too scared to fish in it then he couldn't help. Once Sunfish stopped talking Knotpaw smiled up at him. "So, um, S-Sunfish. Maybe we don't have to go to the river today? I mean I'm not trying to get out of it or anything, but...." Knotpaw trailed off. He was trying to get out of it and he didn't really feel like lying to his mentor on their first training session.

[going to make you and Sunpaw a battle training thread together if you're okay with that.]
Sunfish cocked his head. Well this was a peculiar reaction. Most of his apprentices seem to be ecstatic to visit the river, but Knotpaw seemed genuinely.. not wanting to visit it today. "You sure? I mean it's always best to get that out of the way.. but if you really insist we can always d land hunting today and fishing another time. We could go hunting right now if you'd like, or head back to camp and go hunting another day.
"What would you like to do?"

Sunfish seemed pretty cool with Knotpaw wanting to avoid the river. It also seemed like he wasn't really aware that Knotpaw was afraid, or maybe he just wasn't showing that to keep the younger cat's pride intact. Either way Knotpaw was thankful. "I'm okay with going hunting, I just wasn't expecting to be going to the river today. Hunting sounds fun." He stated. He hoped that Sunfish wasn't too weirded out by his strange requests. Go hunting today, but not fishing. Hunting was fun and was actually one of the things he looked forward to most, but fishing was terrifying. Maybe later Knotpaw would explain all that to his mentor, but for now he just wanted to train.
[yea that sounds good.]
