Breathing slowly, chest moving up and down peacefully, the snow colored she-cat soaked in the cold weather through her thick pelt. Most cats would rather find a sunny spot in the middle of the icy forest but instead Thornkit rather enjoys the cold climate. A breeze ruffling her fur, the kit allowed her thoughts to now be controlled by the nature. It seemed as if all worries and past complaints had been forgotten, right now it was just herself.
Flinching as warmth began to hit her back, Thornkit whipped her head around to see a ray of light sinking through the thick green leaves. Feeling slightly annoyed, the she-cat rose to her feet, stretching out her body thoroughly. Blinking with a tired expression, lazy golden eyes scanned the camp seeing it was empty once more. Shrugging, Thornkit decided to abandon her afternoon nap and was now cleaning her white fur.

i must become a lionheart The pale calico was stalking, his rump high in the air. Slowly he edged closer to that single ray of sunlight, his blue eyes pinpointed on the target. What would it be like to eat sunlight, he wondered. Well, he'd know soon enough. With a trill of triumph he launched forward enthusiastically. Too enthusiastically, as he flew right over the patch of sunlight, and towards a cat sitting beyond. Batkit landed at her paws and let out a huff if disappointment. "I missed the sun. That's impossible, I can't have missed. How did I miss?"

Hearing paw steps speeding towards the snowy she-cat at a fast pace Thornkit's ears perked up. Lifting her head to see a calico kit who seemed to be charging towards the she-cat, she felt alarmed and tightened her muscles preparing for a 'battle'. Golden eyes not moving from the target, the kit watched as he got closer and closer than finally pounced. Snarling, Thornkit raised a paw with sheathed claws only to watch the male land at her paws. Tilting her head to the side, the she-cat wondered what the tom's aim had been. Whiskers twitching with slight amusement, she asked with curiosity,
"Were you chasing the sunlight? And are you okay?"
This kit was quite odd in the female's eyes, he seemed almost distant and in his own world, but she didn't like to judge a cat before getting to know them. Shuffling her brown paws, Thornkit's eyes made contact with his as she waited for a reply. When he had landed a small echo of the impact had traveled around the clearing which had alerted the kit and made her wonder if the male was alright. He seemed uninjured and brushed it off easily. He certainly is interesting...

i must become a lionheart He noticed Thornkit for the first time when she started talking. Well, he'd noticed her there, but hadn't really recognized her as a cat. More so she was 'Oh thank goodness I didn't crash into that furry structure'. Surprise, surprise, that structure was a cat.
"Of course, and of course!" He declared, standing up. "Haven't you ever wondered what it would be like to hold light? It sounds pretty cool to me." The pale calico smiled, finally giving the stranger a glance over. He was silent for a moment....He felt as if he'd forgotten something. Then when it snapped into place in his mind, his eyes widened and the tom threw himself to the ground in a bow of apology. "I'm sorry! I wasn't playing attention. Did I hit you? Are you hurt?"

The young she-cats whiskers twitched with amusement as the tom said some pretty interesting things. Holding sunlight was never something which had crossed Thornkit's mind, although she wasn't really interested in the sun either way. Perhaps holding moonlight would draw in her attention more... Shrugging her shoulders, the white she-cat responded as if it was no big deal,
"That'd sure be something, but I'm pretty sure it's near to impossible."
Surprised at the sudden change of subject, Thornkit let a embarrassed smile cross her face. Whenever cats would apologize the she-cat felt somehow guilty and as they were being forced to ask for forgiveness. As for what had hit her, the only thing the kit could think of was a gust of wind. Shaking her head, Thornkit once more replied this time in a more chirpish manner,
"I'm all good here! Although I am sorry that you got injured, it's not too bad right?"
Examining the tom quickly, Thornkit made sure that there were no cuts or slashes on the kits body. Narrowing her golden eyes, the white furred she-cat concluded that no serious injuries had been located.
Glad to be over with the serious business, the kit now felt obliged to introduce herself. Giving a bright grin, the female shuffled her paws lightly and meowed,
"I'm Thornkit by the way!"

i must become a lionheart Batkit's enthusiasm wasn't dampened by Thornkit's claim. After all, the impossible was just the possible that hadn't been done yet. If he gave up hope now, he'd obviously never get to where he wanted to go. "Well when I finally catch it, I'll let you touch it. If you say 'pretty please, oh great and wonderful Batkit'." He replied with a teasing grin.
When it became clear that he had caused the kit no harm, he relaxed. Truthfully he hadn't been aware of colliding with her, so it was possible it had never happened. Then again, it was equally possible that it had, and in his opinion, it was better to be sure. "I'm glad." Batkit purred. "Who, me? No way, just walk it off. I'm fine." He didn't think he'd be able to let someone he just met worry about him, even if he was in pain. It didn't feel like she deserved to have that burden.
"Thornkit?" He brightened at the introduction. He knew her name now, which was obviously a sign of friendship. Duh. Total friends. "I'm Batkit.....Though I might have said that already....Have I?"

Rolling her golden eyes at the kits remark, Thornkit let out a laugh and then smirked slightly. It was in situations like this that the she-cat liked to tease others back and forth. Giving him a sly, questioning look, she replied with the same amount of tease in her tone,
"And what if I steal the light?!"
It wasn't easy to simply 'walk it off' and Thornkit knew this was at least true. Pain would only grow when it is stressed which could lead to life time injuries. Although if it wasn't too bad, perhaps that would be alright. Giving him a worried gaze, the female cocked her head to the side and pressed on, trying to get the full truth out of the male,
"You're really okay?"
It made the white kit grow happy when he brightened up at her introduction, quite frankly Thornkit felt the same way. It wasn't everyday you made a new friend. Laughing slightly at Batkit's forgetfulness she shook her head and meowed delighted,
"That's the first time I've heard it! So Batkit, it seems you're just about the age of apprenticeship right?"

i must become a lionheart Oh dear. Batkit's eyes widened. Perhaps he had misjudged Thornkit after all. Oh no no no. "You think you could steal from me?" He repeated, his tone full of mock offense. "Perish the thought. I'm too awesome, you'd never succeed." Luckily he'd decided she was joking before taking any real offense. Ha, steal from him. As if. He almost laughed at the thought.
The tom was a little more comfortable in the face of Thornkit's questions, now that he'd decided they were friends. He was able to flick that switch within himself quite quickly, between moods and people. "All my legs are still attached, so it can't be bad that." He answered honestly with a shrug. If he could 'walk it off' as he put it, then it obviously wasn't that bad.
Ears flicking forward bashfully, Batkit smiled. "That's right. I don't mind the change, I don't think. I'll bet there are plenty of high places to climb outside of camp, so become an apprentice shouldn't be too bad. But you," He looked down at Thornkit and smiled impishly. "Why look at you, all innocent and childlike. You should skip amongst the roses while you can child, before you become a nasty grown-up like me."

The she-cat once more laughed at his response. Of course Thornkit would never 'steal the light' but perhaps she might touch it without permission. Putting on a playful smirk, the white kit moved her paw towards the small patch of sunlight near the two. Slowly she moved closer to it until she was a whisker length away from it and glanced at Batkit,
"I'm going to get the sunlight!
This amazed Thornkit. Obviously he was just kidding, but the thought of seeing his legs detached was one which would never leave her mind. Rolling her golden eyes, the she-cat still felt the smallest bit of concern but decided to trust the tom, he seemed alright. Nodding, she took a deep breath and once more smiled at Batkit before replying with honest relief,
"Thank goodness you're alright, I don't know what I would do if I found a cat with no legs!"
Narrowing her eyes at him slightly as he spoke about becoming an apprentice, Thornkit couldn't help but feel a hint of jealously. She would do anything to be trained by a mentor to become a warrior. Shaking the feeling off quickly before she became rude, the she-cat instead nodded with excitement now thinking of the future.
Laughing at his next statement, Thornkit began to question the tom's logic. Replying with a smile on her face, eyes now glistening with delight, she responded playfully,
"I don't think that's safe. Roses have thorns right? I mean maybe I'd be alright since I am Thornkit, but you wouldn't last a second."

i must become a lionheart Batkit let a mock growl squeak in his throat as Thornkit moved. He wasn't going to let her chase after his sunlight so easily. Following after her, the tom kept a careful eye on her progress. "You know if you call it, and act very nice, maybe it will come to you." He added sarcastically with a wicked smile.
He laughed, since Thornkit seemed honestly concerned by the notion of a cat with no legs, but he was entirely amused. "I suppose you'd have to make friends with it, and roll it from one place to another," he suggested earnestly, trying to take another subtle step towards the patch of sunlight. Honestly it looked too big to hold now, but was a rather comfortable size for lying down in. "Well I'm Batkit," he replied without looking from the sunlight. "Clearly that means one day I'll have the power of flight, so we'll see who's laughing then."
