Willowfall dipped her head in thanks, content that the message had gotten across. "So Speckpaw, how about you try and catch a fish now?" She asked the FireClanner, a slight challenge in her voice. "It's much easier for us IceClanners, for we have the thicker coat." Willowfall decided that she would save the fish for camp, for there are a few queens that need the food to produce milk.
(I don't mind either way, but this is really good for Willow to help her break out of her shell. I am also having much fun with this xD)

{ then we can keep going :3 }
Speckpaw's eyes instantly turned as wide as an owl's. "Uh... you mean... fish?" he asked, eyeing the river. "In that frigid water? I think we both know I'd only make a fool of myself. Fishing is for IceClan cats. FireClanners only fall in and drown, and I do not want to prove that theory...." Though, he was tempted to at least try. Really, if he did fall in, he had a luminous IceClan savior to rescue him. Even if he would have rather it be the other way around, it was still a comforting thought. "But... maybe... uh... how do you fish, anyway? Not that I'll go through with this or anything, but just to know?"

Willowfall twitched her whiskers in amusement. "Now, now. I don't need or want an apprentice drowning on me, so I don't suggest you try." She stood up and moved closer to the river. "First, you want to find a good place in the river. One where the current isn't too fast, but not so still that no fish are there." She looked down into the river, before continuing, "Be sure not to let your shadow cast over the river. If you have to move to a different spot along the shore, that's alright." Willowfall was already in a good place, so she did not move. "Now, here is when it gets tricky. You have to be quick and precise, for if you miss, it will alarm all the other fish and you most likely won't catch anything. For beginners, I suggest snagging the fish with your claw, as deep as you can, and lifting it out of the water slightly before quickly biting it to make sure it is dead. If you take it fully put of the water while it is almost fully alive, it may wriggle out of your grip. That is another reason why you must be quick." Willowfall then demonstrated, catching another fish, but with a bit more struggle this time, nearly losing it. "Some cats like the snag it and then bang it against the rocks to kill it, but I find that method a bit to risky. Sometimes, when you have been fishing for many moons, you can just dig your claws in and kill it. Or, sometimes warriors like to show off and throw it up in the air, and then catch it in their mouth." She looked at Speckpaw once more, "I advise you not to try this without one of your own FireClan warriors, for I don't need to be held responsible for an apprentice falling into the river."

Speck was quite intrigued about this. Walking beside the borders and being told that 'IceClan's skill is fishing' and 'TreeClan cats can climb like squirrels' was a simple way of stating the obvious. But actually going into detail about how IceClanners fished, even if he himself wasn't about to practice, was still quite interesting.
"I never thought about fishing... any of the pros and cons, that is. But then again, I am a FireClanner. And we don't have anything to do with swimming." he replied with a light smile. "But your a pretty good mentor, Willow. I might even try fishing... one day. Not tonight, and certainly not in this chilly air." He shivered as if to prove his point, and then added with a smirk. "Beauty and brains? What a catch, I must say. Some lucky tomcat or she-cat should be grateful you'll be there's in the future."

Willowfall couldn't help but lick her fluffy white chest again in embarrassment. " Well, um, thank you. I'm sure any she-cat or tom would feel the same about you." She replied, still looking down. "Speckpaw here is quite the flirt." She thought to herself, flicking one ear.

Speck laughed at the returned compliment. "Haha, I'm just a regular tomcat. Your the lucky catch, Willow." he meowed. {flirting is so hard to do successfully!}
"So am I the first border cat you've befriended? Oh, we are friends, right? Would be a shame to be kicked off that list by such a beauty."

"Actually, no. You are not the first border cat. But their names will remain unsaid," Willowfall paused before adding: "Yes, I suppose we could be considered friends." She answered him, nodding slightly. Willowfall then dipped her paw into the frigid water, but without a flinch, and slowly moved it back and forth. The water felt good on her paw, and she could see the fish swimming away quickly.

Speck raised an invisible eyebrow. So she was familiar with border cats. That was to be expected, since someone couldn't be locked inside camp forever. "So these nameless border cats... do you still chat with them?" He didn't know why he was prying. Maybe he was just curious?
"That made my day, Willow. Accepted by Willowfall the IceClanner is an honor." He bowed childishly. "Though they say friendship like this can only lead to love." He winked.

Willowfall narrowed her eyes slightly. "You can definitely count on that being a no." She mewed flatly, obviously seeing where this apprentice was going. "It is one to have a meer friend with a cat from another Clan, and another to love them. It pains me to hear that cats believe all friendships between male and female cats across borders result in love. And when it does, it seems the warrior code suddenly doesn't exist." Willowfall lashed her tail, before adding, "If that is all you think of me, another beautiful cat destined to be your mate, then I think that I best be going."

She's certainly different from most cats I've met. Speck thought, feeling his heart race at her words. "No, no. I didn't mean to hurt you in any way, Willowfall. And no, I don't view you as just some she-cat. Yes, I do think your beautiful, but beauty can only go so far for showing the real cat inside. I understand you want nothing to do with love from an enemy, so I would like to stop the conversation at just friends." he meowed, glancing at the river briefly before looking back up at her. "I was just curious if you were still friends with those cats. I mean, I'm a border cat and I want to stay your friend. So it kinda ties together a bit. Probably shouldn't have pried... but I'm sorry for hurting you in the way I did. I don't want your lasting image of me something you dislike."

"I suppose we could just my friends. But, don't think I am going to keep meeting you like this. If we ever face in battle, don't consider us friends during that time either. I don't want you to show any mercy to me, nor will I to you." Willowfall concluded, backing away slightly from the river, her paws slipping on the shore...
(Sorry for the such late response)

{ it's fine! we can end the thread anyway ^-^ }
Speck sighed. If that was the best he was going to get, he might as well accept it. "Fine. Friends tied by loyalty." he agreed, and then turned around. "Well, I guess I should leave it at that. It seems I have a way of getting under your fur... heh, I might need to work on that. Think it's my terrible flirts or my distracted mind that got this conversation a bit more hostile than friendly?" he asked with a teasing smirk.
