(Private for Petalfur) Silvercloud wasn't doing all too much today. All her apprentices seemed to be missing. Not getting into trouble or slacking, I hope. Maybe they're training on their own? Silvercloud let out a laugh at the thought. Apprentices were probably known for their laziness, and apart from Marshpaw, no apprentice of hers had been entirely forthcoming in training yet. But enough about her apprentices. That seemed to be all her life was centred around these days, and it couldn't be healthy. She needed a little time for herself, for her own warrior life. Deciding to meet some cats, she moved out into the camp and walked straight up to the first cat she saw who didn't look too busy, introducing herself. "Hi, I'm Silvercloud. Sorry for disturbing you, I'm just trying to introduce myself to some cat."

As it would turn out, Petalfur was quite busy attacking a pesky tick that refused to lose it's grip on her shoulder. Granted, it likely didn't look like much - just a middle-aged warrior she-cat starting quite grumpily at her shoulder and stabbing the area every so often with a long sharp claw. The battle was won moments before another warrior, seemingly younger, approached Petalfur. The Bengal flicked the dead pest away, her kind aqua-green eyes focusing intently on the other cat. "Oh, no, it's perfectly fine!" Petalfur assured her clanmate, Silvercloud. "Lovely name, by the way! I'm Petalfur."

As she neared, she saw the she-cat repeatedly stab herself in her shoulder before flicking a tiny black speck away. What is going on here? Shrugging her queries aside, she turned her mind to the she-cat's words. Maybe the other cat was simply a little insane. Silvercloud smiled at Petalfur, easily seeing where the mottled she-cat had gotten her name from. "Your name's pretty too, and I can see why you have it." Briefly, she wondered if the she-cat had not only gotten the name for her pelt, but her personality as well. She certainly seemed nice as of now. "Out of curiosity, do you have any apprentices? The clan seems to be a little short on mentors nowadays." Silvercloud was curious because if she, a new warrior, had three apprentices already, how many would an experienced warrior have? Surely at least five!
(Sorry my muse is dead.)

If cats could blush, Petalfur would be a radish. Shifting her weight out of self-conciousness, the warrior smiled. "Thank you, that's very kind of you," she responded, her gaze returning to Silvercloud after a brief journey around camp. Silvercloud's next question was kind of out of the blue for Petalfur, so she blinked in surprise, but then smiled deeper, chuckling softly. "My apprentice's always run off on me," Petal began, reflecting on the numerous apprentices she'd had but never had the chance to complete training with. "I can't figure out why! So no, I only technically have apprentices right now." Petalfur blinked again, a sign of kindness.
NO NO! It was great! It made me laugh and that's the best kind of wayto show muse! XD Template by Meg❤

Silvercloud blinked at the thought of her own apprentices running off on her. It had happened quite a bit, but to a lesser degree since she hadn't been training them for particularly long. Marshpaw seemed fine, eager to learn, but Brackenpaw and Viperpaw never seemed to be around. Maybe they were training on their own? A mentor could hope at least. Smiling gently at Petalfur, Silvercloud replied softly, "Ah, I see. My apprentices are being quite diligent now, but that's probably only because they're new. I'm sure they'll start slacking off once they get into the swing of things!" As a matter of fact, she was pretty sure that if Petalfur wanted an apprentice, she could simply ask. But she probably didn't want one anyways. It was a lot of work!

"Yes, I'm sure," Petalfur mused, pawing the dirt under her paws. She thought of all that had been going on lately and couldn't suppress a sigh if discouragement. Ashfrost, her mate, wasn't around for the billionth time, and she was contemplating to deep extent the choices before her: Wait again in pain and cycle through the same measures, or end things and find a mate who would always stand beside her. It was more painful and more baring that she could have ever imagined. "Stupid question, but... what do you think about- Never mind," Petalfur stuttered. "How do you feel about Iceclan?" Anything to swerve around the lame question she was going to ask was game.

Silvercloud looked at Petalfur, and noticed that she was drifting off again, probably in her own thoughts. Somehow, the warrior didn't think that Petalfur was on the topic of apprentices any longer. Wondering what Petalfur was truly bothered by, she started a little as the warrior began to speak. Petalfur seemed to want to ask something else, but changed her mind. "Well, it is my home clan. I love it! But really, what were you going to ask?" Silvercloud was simply curious, but also highly concerned for Petalfur. She had only just met the warrior, but she hated to see any cat in trouble or distress, and that was definitely what Petalfur looked like she was facing. If she could help, she wanted to.

The Bengal nodded thoughtfully, but not really listening to Silvercloud's response until she looked up and realized she had been asked a question herself. "Oh, uh..." She said, trying to think of a way out an seeing none. "Well, I was wondering how you feel about the loyalty that love requires, I suppose. As in, should someone that loves you always be there when it matters and at least say something if he was going to leave? Especially as his kits were just born!?" Petal bit her tongue, realizing she had spoken a bit too much. "Just forget I said anything, really. Probably just my instincts as a mother returning to slap be across the nose and I'm just overreacting." The she-cat giggled a bit out of unease, shifting her weight as she tended to do when she got nervous.

Silvercloud dipped her head, pondering this question. It was true that the newly made warrior had never truly experienced heartbreak, but somehow she knew that Petalfur was speaking from somewhere deeper within her than was first apparent. Trying to understand the larger picture of it, Silvercloud decided to answer as honestly as she could. "Don't worry, if I were faced with such an issue I would feel like that too. It's natural to feel protective over your kits. And as for the dilemma, I think that love does require a certain amount of loyalty, but it also tends to be timeless. I agree that it is highly irresponsible for a tom expecting kits to simply leave, but I also think that maybe he has some other matters to attend to. I think that in such a case the cat should be always there, but even if he or she isn't, you can't stop loving them anyway. But still, that's just my view." Silvercloud blushed slightly at the end of her little monologue. Who was she to be giving advice to a seasoned warrior and queen?

Silvercloud's response made sense to Petalfur, but it didn't necessarily solve her dilemma. The newer warrior was simply repeating Petalfur's own thoughts, but she smiled and nodded her thanks anyway. After all, leaving it as it was rather than expanding upon her own problems would be more peaceful and far less awkward. "So, you have any love interests?" Petalfur teased, expecting no answer. She was just a stranger still, not a friend, and she hoped her expression would show it was regarded more as a rhetorical question.

Silvercloud shrunk a little in embarrassment at the teasing question, the previous awkward topic forgotten. She did understand that it was a rhetorical question, asked in good humour, but still she wondered. She knew that most cats had some form of a crush, even apprentices, but she herself had never had much interest in any cat. Well, maybe it would come in time. "No actually, not now. But then again, I'm still quite young yet." Shifting uncomfortably around, she wondered why she had even brought this topic up in the first place.

Petalfur smiled. She understood completely, and so she nodded, her gaze drifting out across the territory. The Bengal said nothing, just let time pass as she thought about anything and everything in no specific order. A silent rain began then. Petalfur frowned at the change of weather, looking up at the falling water. "Looks like now would be a good time to head in before we get drenched!" Petal remarked, standing and stretching. "Want to walk back to camp with me?"

Silvercloud nodded in response to Petalfur's smile, and fell into an easy silence with the she-cat. It was nice, she would admit, not having to feel compelled to fill the silence with mindless chatter. She normally found difficulty in speaking, found trouble in crafting words that would fall out of her mouth in just the way she wanted to. In this case, silence was beautiful. It was quickly shattered, though, by the sound of pattering rain against the ground. Flinching as the water droplets hit her, she stood too and quickly licked the water droplets on her nose off. She had always been really irritated by anything that impeded her sense of smell, and this was no different. "Yeah, it's getting quite wet out here! Sure!" Stretching her legs out, she followed after Petalfur.
(Yep, I think that would be best.)

With a quick nod of approval, Petal took off at a steady pace, slowly gaining in speed as the rain pelted her back with increasing ferocity. Glancing back briefly, Petalfur hoped Silvercloud was close behind, but her vision was a bit blurry with the motion of the rain and the water in her eyes. Ah, yes, the magic of Leaf-fall, changing the weather in moments. Upon reaching the camp, Petalfur slowed, breathing heavily after the endless sprint. Turning her head, her drenched pelt hanging heavy on her thin frame, she smiled. "I think we made it," Petalfur remarked sarcastically, shaking out her fur before sliding through into the clearing. "I've got to go out on a patrol, soon, I think, so I'm going to rest up in the warriors den. See you around?"

Silvercloud dashed after Petalfur, the other warrior having a head start on her. She had always enjoyed the water though, so she wasn't too bothered by the rain. As long as it kept off her muzzle, she would be happy with it. Still, she ran after Petalfur, in deference to what she assumed was the older warrior's distate for water. Finally catching up to Petalfur as she reached camp, Silvercloud chose the slightly more undignified option of simply flopping onto the camp grounds. She groaned at the thought of duties. She would have to train her endless parade of apprentices now! Sighing, she lugged herself up and decided to get a bite to eat first. "Well, it was close enough. Have a good rest, and good luck with the patrol!" Smiling, Silvercloud moved towards the fresh-kill pile. Just another day in this clan.
(It's been nice meeting you!)
