ADDERPAW OF ICECLAN If they ever found out what he was doing, the queens were going to flay Adderpaw for it, without a doubt.
He'd just sneaked a kitten out of the camp. The apprentice could hardly believe they hadn't been caught yet - their escape was less than perfect, but apparently it had been enough to avoid detection by any of the other IceClanners. Adder only dared to let out a breath of relief once they were a safe distance away from the main paths.
"So what do you think? Lots more space out here, yeah?" asked the pale tabby after turning towards Shadekit with the corner of his mouth twisting upwards into a grin. This was absolutely not allowed. He'd be in deep trouble if someone happened to wander by, and the danger alone made Adderpaw shiver with excitement. Why hadn't he done this before? As the dizzyingly high peaks of the mountains came into view, Shadekit's breath caught in his throat; he'd never seen a sight quite so resplendent before. For a moment, the only thing the kit was capable of was gawking; the fact that Adderpaw had said anything at all took several moments to register with the awestruck little tom. "It's..." he managed to choke out, his eyes still wide as saucers. "It's... wonderful," he finished, letting his gaze wander over the surrounding terrain, from the dipping valleys to the soaring mountain tops. Truth be told, Shadekit had never really considered how... big the world was, and it was only now, all at once, that he was able to get a grasp on the enormity of everything. Free indeed. Turning back to the apprentice, Shadekit asked, "So you can just come out here whenever you want? Go wherever you want?"; his question carried obvious overtones of excitement, bordering on mania.

ADDERPAW OF ICECLAN Personally, the tabby tom didn't favor IceClan's terrain. It was too cold and rocky. The woods were more his style, particularly DeathClan's marshes, but he hadn't been there in a long time. Going home at long last would be excellent, though he hadn't had a chance yet.
But enough of that. Adderpaw twitched his ears at Shadekit. "Not really… apprentices are allowed outside, but usually the warriors get upset if we go alone. They like tagging along. Even once you're an adult, there are restrictions on how far you can go and what you can do. It's stupid," he huffed frustratedly.
"What they don't know won't hurt them. C'mon, let's explore." WORDS: 111 || WRITTEN FOR: Shadekit NOTES - n/a template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Shadekit found himself agreeing with Adderpaw; the fact that there were restrictions on things such as travelling within your own clan's territory was, indeed, stupid. His negativity evaporated instantly at the mention of exploration, and once again the young tom was nearly bouncing with excitement. He darted off, intent on discovering new things and exploring new places, before he stopped to think that perhaps it wasn't the best idea for a kit to scamper off, alone, with no idea where he was going. So, with a significant degree of reluctance, Shadekit slowed down, casting an impatient glance over his shoulder at the older tom. "Hurry up!" he called, as though such verbal prodding would actually get the stubborn apprentice to do any such thing.

ADDERPAW OF ICECLAN Adder quirked a feline eyebrow when Shade immediately zoomed off. He did trot to catch up, however, and attempted to thwack the kitten's ears with his thick-furred tail as a reprimand.
"Unless you know where you're going, I'd recommend sticking with me. You're not allowed to go running off a cliff or anything like that," the apprentice reminded his younger companion. Adderpaw set a moderate pace towards the river then, heading for a less popular area. It wasn't too far away and he'd be willing to bet that Shadekit would have fun checking out this unfamiliar location. "As if I'd try and fall off a cliff," Shadekit muttered to himself indignantly, flicking his ears as the residual shock of Adderpaw's swat faded away. He did, however, do as the older tom said, following closely behind as he set off at a brisk pace, not too demanding for the unweathered kit to keep up with, but not slow, either. His annoyance, as always, left him almost as soon as it had come, leaving him gazing around in a curious manner, examining the dullest of boulders with as much diligence as the most spectacular of vistas. After a while, his curiosity urged him to ask the question that he'd had since the two toms had left the camp; "Where are we going?"

ADDERPAW OF ICECLAN Though he twitched an ear, Adder didn't bother arguing the point. Shadekit was young and defiant even with this newfound freedom - and the former rogue couldn't really blame him. Clan ways were unnecessarily oppressive. So, with a half-shrug, he kept padding along.
"Why don't you see for yourself?" meowed Adderpaw in response. They reached the top of a small ridge then, and just ahead, the trail sloped down towards the river's edge. It'd be too cold for swimming, and of course Shade wasn't old enough for that anyway, but there would still be fish to watch and surroundings to explore. A paradise of sorts for a kitten… assuming they weren't caught. WORDS: 111 || WRITTEN FOR: Shadekit NOTES - Oh man I am so sorry about ditching this thread. They sorta piled up after I switched to this account as my staff one. Hope you're not too mad about that - I'd love to have Shade and Adder roleplay once more when I'm not so flooded with things to reply to! template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

Before Shadekit could make any further arguments concerning Adderpaw's intentionally infuriating response, the two cats crested a ridge; though it wasn't anything spectacular on its own, the sight it led to was. The tom's gaze brightened even further as he took in the enormous, ever-churning body of water before him, occasionally tossing up sprays of water that caught the sunlight in just the right way so as to send out a brief, dazzling flash of color before disappearing beneath the glistening surface once again. Instead of saying anything, Shadekit leapt forward, running straight up to the riverbank, and leaning close enough to the water to let his nose touch the chilly torrent as it raced by. Pulling back, he noticed a flicker of movement beneath the surface of the river; curious, he kept watching, until again he saw it, a swift, silvery blur, following the downstream path of the current. Puzzled, the tom thought about what it could possibly be, before coming to the conclusion that it must have been a fish. With a laugh, Shadekit turned back to face Adderpaw; "Thank you," he said simply, his voice carrying the weight of how truly grateful he was that the older tom had chosen to show him this place, and his amber gaze danced with equal measures of wonderment and gratitude.
