Sunfish was out with a small group of cats. He'd been patrolling when he'd picked up a strange scent. It wasn't the scent of prey, but a smell that he'd once seen before. But.. not in the Clans. They were quite close to the twoleg place which might explain things. Sunfish caught a small sparrow. But suddenly a large dog emerged. He dropped it, stepping back and the dog advanced. It seemed to think that the food belong to it. Sunfish gulped, not staring back at his companions, but dead on at the dog. "..Err.." He muttered. He had one warrior and two apprentices with him. Likely not enough to kill this thing, obviously. Sunfish seemed stiff for a moment but suddenly burst into action as he attempted a blow to the dog's eye. WolfearsMistpawThunderhowl

Wolfpaw was with his father, Mistpaw, and Thunderhowl when suddenly a huge dog appeared. Wolfpaw's ears flattened and he stepped back a little. "I-Is that a...!" For some reason he'd felt like he'd seen one of these before, but he hadn't. Sunfish went to aim a blow for the creature but Wolfpaw found himself still with hesitance that fear consumed him.
He watched the fight go on without yet making a move for himself.

| I was following along with the hunting patrol, already having caught a mountain bird that was perched low in the pine. I'd buried it in a small snow pile for later pick up. I was, more or less, extremely bored, only occasionally poking fun at Wolfpaw because I liked his reactions, but my amusement was gone at the sudden change in air around us, My head whipped around to stare at the face of a dog, Sunheart's sudden attack making me grin. Enjoyed— No, I thrived off of violence. "Move before it eats you, goat-brain," I hissed before charging forwards, long legs propelling me as a wide grin set on my muzzle. I ducked and slid in between the dog's front paws, twisting so that I'd continue to slide on my back. I raised my unsheathed claws to rake across the dogs stomach. It was easy to make contact and drag the sharp, thorn like daggers of claws through it, but as I slid out, a sharp kick knocked into my rib cage, sending me skidding backwards. I pulled myself up and spit out a little blood, not entirely worried about internal damage. I had no time to worry. Fear and excitement roiled in my blood as I poised for attack once more, leaping up and onto the creature's back. I viciously tore into the back of the dog's neck, already feeling myself being shaken. I fell to the side, landing on my feet heavily as I bared my teeth and snarled, willing the dog to look away from Sunfish. The deputy was older and probably wouldn't last long while by himself. Or maybe I just wanted a fight. | | | | | notes/tags |

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, Thunderhowl had clearly chosen the best time to return home. he'd picked up the dog scent near the border and had followed it a good way into iceclan, determined to fight and finish it off alone before returning to camp. in a way, at least it would make up for his long absence. he hadn't expected to see others already fighting the creature, and was both disappointed and worried by the sight. two of them were tiny, certainly not even warriors yet. the other was an old fart. he'd be the first to die.
With a roar of fury thunderhowl flew over the edge of his cliff, overlooking the battle. he was a creature born and bred for battle (hunting sucked and it was pointless, he would forever defend that), claws unsheathed and fangs bared as he landed upon the creature's back, so recently vacated by the gutsy apprentice. he had to give her credit for that move as well. digging his claws in, thunderhowl leaned forward and latched onto the dog's ear with his teeth, using it as a handle. he felt like he was riding the iron bull at a rodeo.

Sunfish gripped his teeth into the dog's shoulder. It tried to fling him around as it dealt with the pain from the attacks of Thunderhowl and Mistpaw. The dog seemed to be snarling at something but Sun wasn't sure if it was because of the pain, or if it was after something specific. It was fighting back wildly but it's eyes seemed to stare at his son. Who, for some reason, stood there like he was a statue. "Wolfpaw!" He called. The golden feline wanted his son run. But of course he knew Wolfpaw was too stubborn to listen.
The dog struggled, but managed to go towards Wolfpaw and while the cats were attacking. But it did seem quite stunned by the attacks. Yet it looked ready to go for Wolfpaw. Sunfish let go of the dog and aimed another blow for it's chest to keep it away from Wolfpaw, but the dog got a hold on his shoulder. a small crunch was audible. It wasn't too bad, it's not like he'd never walk again, but the dog had gotten a pretty good hold of him. Blood splattered onto the ground and it was obvious he had punctured flesh. It seemed to feel satisfied, because it dropped Sunfish but did begin to lash out again at the whole group.

Wolfpaw knew very well everyone was probably angry with him for not attacking. But there was something about this that just seemed extremely familiar, and scary. His paws were trembling slightly. Why was this a lot harder to do than it looked. Everyone else was fighting. For some reason he could easily see himself dying. A flash of a tree became vivid in his mind but that was about all. Suddenly he felt something splatter onto his face. It was blood, Sunfish's blood. His eyes widened and watched Sunfish drop onto the ground. He felt himself be lifted and swung. The dog had him by the throat and just swung him until he was thrown a slight distance away.
He rolled onto the floor and he crouched down as the dog peered over him. Why did this seem too familiar!? He could almost see death in the dog's eyes. It lashed out at Wolfpaw a few times, causing him to bleed but then it simple stared him down, growling.

| I was, of course, quite curious as to who the newcomer was, but he did smell of IceClan, so I focused more so on the enemy that was attacking us and not a cat. I grinned as the gray and white tom leaped onto the dog, adding to my handiwork. I appreciated the gutsy move. I suddenly looked over and let out a string of curses, the deputy with a crushed shoulder and Wolfpaw on the ground... the dog walking forwards and lashing out... I narrowed my pale eyes and wasted no more time, a furious howl escaping my mouth as I darted in front of the stunned apprentice. I took the brunt of a swipe, filed claws slicing across my nose bridge, leaving a deep, arching cut across my face that made it hard to breathe through my nose due to all the pouring blood flowing from it. I stared back at the animal fearlessly, fur spiked out, and now a rather unflattering shade of clotted pink. My paws jabbed out quick and precise even as the dog's huge jaws latched onto one of my ears, I had already hit the dog's eyes. The creature lifted its head upwards as it prepared to throw me like it had with the brown cat I was currently standing in front of, but a huge, mouth-splitting grin cut across my face as I lunged forwards, feeling some of my ear shred. My jaws attached to the beast's neck and I raised my front claws, tearing at the rest of the neck that was exposed. The thing stumbled back, probably caught between Thunderhowl and myself ripping into it at the same time. I pushed my face into the thing throat, teeth grabbing and tearing whatever was available. My vision, taste, and scent were masked with the thick coppery blood that seemed to pour out, the usually viscous liquid now streaming like water. At the whimpering gurgles and whines that slowly ebbed off, I pulled away. The dog wavered, looking at me with wide glossy eyes before crumpling down. I smiled sardonically at my work, blood still pooling out and turning the frosted grass below my feet shiny with it's slick. I turned, not bothering with the deputy or the intruder, instead bearing down at Wolfpaw. I knew I probably looked terrifying as I stared at him. My face was drenched in thick, dark crimson, my chest and my legs as well. My black paws looked like the color actually faded into red halfway up my legs. My mouth and muzzle probably had pieces of dog internals on it, one of my ears shredded at the top, and a thick, deep cut across my nose bridge obvious against all the redness. I leaned down, baring pink teeth at him. "You idiot! I can't believe you! If you do something like this again, I'll kill you before a dog or an enemy warrior does! You become a liability to your comrades when you freeze up! This is why we train, you numbskull! I'm sentencing you to doing extra practice with me so I don't have to defend your useless butt again." I was done snarling though, my shoulders shivering with adrenaline as my whole body looked like it was visibly buzzing. "Now, how hurt are you? I'll lend you my shoulder to lean on as we walk. Come on before we get more bad luck and get hit a blizzard." I leaned down, nudging him and moving to help him up. | | | | | notes/tags |

Wolfpaw was actually crying. He'd never let himself cry before. But his eyes wide, staring at Sunfish and then the dog allowed him to feel extremely vulnerable. He watched Mistpaw attack the dog his fur was fluffed out and he lashed his tail. Something snapped and the tomcat took a large bit to the dog, ripping out a small piece of flesh. He gripped onto it's chest, near its lower part of the neck as Mistpaw had finished it off. When it was beginning to die he remained gripped on for a few minutes before letting himself fall loose. But he remained quietly on the ground. He had tears streaming down his cheeks.
He kept his back to Mistpaw, but slowly turned his head. What is wrong with me? Why was he so scared. He was still shaking. He stared at her with a slight blank expression. Usually he'd snap at her but he was rather quiet. The only thing that him moving earlier was the rush of pure adrenaline. Now he couldn't find himself moving easily.
"S..Shut up..." He muttered very quietly as he leaned against her.

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, he certainly couldn't allow the stupid kits to have all the fun. though, as the warrior and white apprentice fought, his attention did keep straying to them. had so much really changed that he couldn't even recognize who they were? he was so distracted by himself that he barely noticed when he slipped off the thrashing dog, taking the rest of its ear with him. spitting it out, thunderhowl tried to roll to his paws, but found himself trapped underneath the dog. at this stage, it was distracted with throwing sunfish around, and advancing on the brown apprentice. thunderhowl was distracted as well, and didn't notice the dog's flailing back legs until one sliced across his shoulder, kicking him away.
by the time he was on his paws again, he had forced to watch the white thing fight his battle. it was annoying, watching someone else steal his thunder, but in the very least she managed to do it without hurting herself. he would have been worried for such a pathetic creature otherwise. as the apprentices moved together to coddle enough other, the grey and white warrior stalked up to the gurgling dog. it was still alive, and he was still in his battle mode. quickly he took an ana.lysis of the creatures wounds. throat, claws, neck and grinned. Latching on to the dog's lower jaw, he anchored his paw into the neck wound wolfpaw had made, and the other, he dug into the dog's eye. Then with a howl of anger he pulled, ripping the dog's lower jaw from it's head by the already torn throat and neck, he didn't stop until it lay by a strip near the dog's front paws.
spitting out blood, the young warrior turned to Sunfish and grinned, resisting the urge to laugh in his joy. "Are you alright there, gramps?"

Sunfish got to his feet and slowly tried to walk but it proved to be slightly more difficult then he intended. His shoulder was badly hurt and he could tell. He looked over at Wolfpaw. "..Are you okay?" He asked with genuine concern. Sunfish looked back at Thunderhowl, snorting. "Tch... I'm not that old, boy. If that dog didn't rip out your tongue than looks like I might have to."
He seemed worried, Wolfpaw had acted a bit strangely during this fight.

| I didn't bother to comment on his retort, knowing he was shaken up. I looked over to the deputy skeptically. "Considering he and I just defend your pathetic pelt and your son's I wouldn't be making light threats as you are currently. It is rather ungrateful, old man." I gave him a level stare before turning my attention back to Wolfpaw. "Hey, I don't know what happened out there, but if you don't know either, talk to Addervenom. My br— The medicine cat has spiritual connection and might be able to help. I don't think I believe in it very much, but after that atrocious reaction to the creature, I'd go for anything that could provide answers." I was whispering into his ear, not wanting to worry his injured father more. I looked over my shoulder at the tomcat who'd hopped into randomly, eyes looking over him. "Oh, why did you have to do that? I liked the nice hole I made with my mouth and head. I also like when things suffer, but you killed with the shock. A shame, really. It would have been so much more delightful for crows to slowly pick out its eyes and for to drown in that dribbling pool of blood." I paused to look down at the dead dog, letting out a small 'tsk'. "Too bad there isn't another. I'd enjoy seeing its reaction to its comrade being ripped open in such a showy way. I'd also enjoy killing it, but with receiving less scars. I'm a little disappointed with myself, to be honest." I licked some of the blood off of my muzzle. "You should help Sunfish, he is the deputy after all. It'd be a shame if we had to lay him next to the dog." | | | | | notes/tags |

Wolfpaw remained rather quiet still. He seemed to drown out half of the talking until Mistpaw started talking directly to him. He didn't think much of it. Lots of cats were afraid of things. Spiders, foxes, twolegs. Maybe he just had a super bad case of the jitters when it came to dogs? But the imagery of a tree and falling leaves still seemed slightly vivid in his mind as if he'd seen this place somewhere before. Yet none of this matched the description of any parts of IceClan he'd yet to see.
"I just want to go home." He said almost inaudibly. He seemed pretty much out of it and done with this little adventure.

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, "well, you're pleasant," he remarked, smirking at the tom. so much for being helpful. this was exactly why he hated people. his expression turned even more incredulous as the white apprentice spoke, and he turned to glare at Sunfish. "your deputy makes a habit of threatening his clanmates? noted. makes me wonder why i ever left."
iceclan was a den of weirdos. weirdos and danger. how could he have forgotten that? glancing between the deputy and the two apprentices, thunderhowl began to suspect he would have been safer teaming up with the dog. "there is no honour in needless suffering," he finally grumbled, sitting down so he could crane his neck to lick at the blood running down his back. perhaps he could take the wolf jaw back to vinewhip as a present? perhaps she wouldn't be angry that he had left for so long.
"you should all get back to camp and get your wounds looked to. i've some stuff to take care of."

"This is a stressful situation. It's not the time to be making condescending remarks." He snapped. He wasn't in the mood to deal with people calling him aged. He was well over the age of when deputies were regularly given the title, but still. He was only a senior warrior right he still had a lot of spunk in him. "Now, let's head back to camp." He glanced at his son for a moment before attempting to head back the way they came.

| I raised my brows at Thunderhowl. So he'd left? Interesting. I'd have to question him if he'd been near my father's area. I looked back to Wolfpaw, expression sliding into a cool mask of nonchalance and blankness. "We'll go home soon, stop whining and maybe will get there faster." I shifted my weight with a grunt, so that I wasn't leaning as much on my side, the injury angrily throbbing. "Oh, what? You think these animals have honor? You're a bloody fool if you're that— " I looked over at the deputy and paused. I had almost said, "if you're that wrapped up in the clan laws". Probably not the best idea. "It's naive to think that these creatures would have done nonetheless than eating us alive. Honor has no place in a life or death situation." With that I looked away and started trudging back to the camp, tapping Wolfpaw on the haunches with my tail. | | | | | notes/tags |
