I yawned as I stretched, birds chirping and snow finishing it's most recent fall with the last few flakes tumbling down around us. I had gone out hunting with Thunder and I'd split off from him, something about which one of us was going to catch more prey. At a rustling, I grinned, the dampness of the snow hiding whatever scent was lingering. I was hoping it'd be something good. I shifted forwards, but the bush shuddered and I was face to face with a crimson furred fox, her angular face staring back at my own. I was tall, but even I couldn't beat a fully grown mother fox in that category. I leaped back as the creature snapped it's jaws. I let out a yowl, hopefully loud enough for my mate to hear. "Thunderhowl! Fox!" Unfortunately, the beast didn't have any inkling of patience and launched forwards. I leaped to the side frantically, claws outstretched and already raking across the vixen's side. It took a quick turn and it's thorn like claw sliced my nose, a trickle of blood spilling down. I let out a snarl and jumped, landing on its back. I dug my claws in bared down on it, ripping and tearing at the back of its neck with my teeth. I was thrown off though, back slamming into a stone. I could feel the old injury in my rib cage singing with pain. The fox took no precautions and stalked up to me, black eyes only a few inches away from my face as we bared our teeth. I still hadn't gotten up, the pain in my side making me feel sluggish and slow.

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, Unlike Vinewhip, the fox scent hit Thunderhowl like a brick as he tore towards his mate. As soon as he'd heard her call the tom had taken off running, churning his legs and cursing their stumpiness. Leave it to them to find the one fox in Iceclan territory, right after he'd finished fighting a dog.
"Vinewhip!" he yelled, skidding to a halt between his mate and the fox. now that he had found her alive, he allowed his excitement at the prospect of battle to take over. "you're nose is crappy enough as is, loony. stop letting it get beat up all the time." with that final insult he launched himself at the fox, darting between its legs and sinking his teeth into its bony back ankle.

I grunted and pulled myself up, wincing at the heavy pain that was spreading over my left side. Great. "Took you long enough, squirt. I was afraid I was gonna have the fox defeated before you go to join in on the fun." I gave a defiant grin, shoving away my pain to replace it with adrenaline. As he moved, so did I, my body flinging towards the fox's face to make it unprepared for Thunder's attack. My claws aimed for its eyes, the jaws soon snapping blindly at me. I felt a little sorry for the stupid thing, but then remember the unforgiving, black eyes that had stared at me and swallowed me whole with their depths. This thing didn't show mercy, so neither would I. I reach up and shredded at its temple, but the thing caught my paw and I winced as I heard a crunch— well, felt the crunch— and I got tossed, but I skidded to a halt on my feet. I dove under it and twisted, knowing this would be god awful for my leg and rib. I used my good paw, my right one, to rip through the fox's belly skin, smiling as I came out on the other side flecked with blood.

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, thunderhowl glanced over his shoulder with a grin. "Oh you know me, just taking the opportunity to watch your beautiful fighting skills," he quipped, though his gaze was apologetic. he'd never imagined that simply splitting up to hunt could be so dangerous. even if the pain he detected in vinewhip's movements worried him, he couldn't help the thrill of pleasure as they moved together in complete harmony.
As vinewhip tore into its face, he used the opportunity to sink his hold further into the fox's leg, and when he heard a crack that filled him with anger, he repaid the fox by biting down harder, until the fox's ankle cracked under his teeth. Sensing the fox turning its attention towards him now that vinewhip had been thrown, and her distraction had stopped, he quickly slipped out from between the fox's legs. Using the attention to his advantage, he leaped onto a nearby rock, and used it as a trampoline to vault onto the fox's back (stupid short legs), effectively capturing its attention as vinewhip took his old position and slid underneath it. With a laugh of pride he sunk his teeth again into the fox's shoulder blade.

I snorted at his words and gave him a sly wink. "Glad to know it takes a fox fight for you to mention something about me beautiful. Looks like I'll have to find a few more of these bad boys," I meowed with a sharp, barking laugh as I rolled my shoulders and pulled my lips back into a snarl. I let out a gleeful hiss and pulled myself to my paws, laughing my butt off to see Thunder leap off of the rock and onto the fox. I was making fun of him for that later. I dove around behind the fox and my jaws clamped down at the base of the fox's tail, my teeth grating down harshly. I could feel the skin tearing and breaking, blood seeping into my mouth as a few vicious kicks were given to my chest, but I didn't detach despite the trouble it caused with my breathing. With one last angry scream from the vixen, the tail tore right off. I spit it out onto the ground, a mixture of the fox's and my own blood probably. The creature was furiously snarling in a panic and swung around quickly, paw out and knocking into the side of my head. I could see the edges of my vision blurring and darkening, things focusing and unfocusing painfully. I wouldn't be surprised if I had a concussion. I let out a bloodcurdling roar and dove beneath snapping teeth. I buried my muzzle in soft ginger fur and then bit down hard. Crimson blood spattered my eyes and I could feel the fox's jaws closing around the fur of my scruff. This would be a decent time for Thunder to pull off some magic.

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, "Well you know me, i'm a master at setting the mood," he fired back, unable to resist a small smile. during combat he was generally in a better mood. everything seemed to fade in importance to him, with the exception of vinewhip of course. in her case, he seemed to become hyper aware of her presence instead.
considering that, he took a moment to appreciate his mate in battle. after all, she nearly rivaled him in brute strength, and her height certainly aided her skills too. Much as he hated to admit it, being short wasn't necessarily bad on the battlefield either. only when it appeared that vinewhip required his help did he charge back into battle. leaping at the fox's lowered head, he hissed and sunk his teeth into its eye. The fox roared, releasing its grip on vinewhip and bucking away. for a while he refused to release his grip, until eventually the fox bucked him off. landing on his paws before vinewhip, he barely had a chance to recover before the fox sought its revenge, grabbing his head and left eye within its jaws.
screaming in fury he tore free, ignoring the pain as he used his paw to sucker-punch the fox's eye-gouge, breaking through its skull. With a last cry the fox fell and thunderhowl retracted his paw, whipping his head to cast of some of the blood crying from his left eye. "you alright, vinewhip?" he asked hesitantly, turning around.

"Oh, gee. I'm practically swooning for you right now," I meowed with a sarcastic batting of my eyelashes. It was not secret I loved to fight and hunt, especially when I was pared up with my mate. There was something that clicked between Thunder and I, making us quite the power duo. I was there for him, and he was there for me. I was able to get out of there as soon as Thunderhowl swept in, stumbling slightly as my vision was dangerously blanking out. This wouldn't be good— and I had an inkling that Thunder wouldn't be letting me out of camp for a while after inspecting my injuries. My head turned all too quickly at the scream of what sounded like, my eyes narrowing. I was in no state to fight, but I moved forwards, limping. My eyes widened as Thunderhowl turned around, my fur bristling in fury. The usual dark brown of my eyes fell into an angry blackness. I pushed past my mate, claws unsheathed as I looked down at the barely breathing fox, my shoulders shaking with rage and unadulterated hatred. I gave the creature the same black, piercing look it had given me when I had been pinned against a rock. No one was here to save the fox. I reached out with a paw, long claws tearing into her neck, but they started ripping and reaching inside. I turned her throat to ribbons, inside out. The swell of anger calmed down as I turned, shoulders now shaking from the strain of keeping myself upright, eyes filled with worry instead of hate as I looked at Thunderhowl. "Me? Am I okay? Look at you! Dear Cloudclan, you might not be able to see out of that eye ever again!" I let out a frustrated sigh, not wanting to disclose the fact that every movement and word I gave was like a rock smashing down on my head. "I still think you're handsome though, so it's okay," I meowed with a weak laugh, pressing my bleeding nose into his fur. "Fair warning, I might have a concussion, so let's get back home before I smash my head in on a rock or pass out."

outta luck, outta time; old-man winter's comin' on ,, He stepped back as Vinewhip swooped in for the kill. HE KNEW BETTER TO intercept the anger in her gaze, and instead took a moment to steady his ragged breathing. was his eye even still there? he was, for once, too afraid to try and open his eye and check for himself.
"calm down," he scolded, moving forward to support vinewhip with his shoulder. "it's just an eye, I've got another one. i'm just glad you managed to stay in one piece." though it was hard not to get disorientated with only half his vision. knowing vinewhip didn't have time for him to be so confused, he shook his head again to clear away some of the sharp pain and started to lead her forward.
"oh, well thank cloudclan for small mercies," he drawled with a snort. what in the world did he care about good looks. he'd never considered that they might have been a factor in vinewhip falling for him. "you know it's kind of hard to start a family when you're bleeding all over the place," the warrior chastised, internally calculating how far away the camp was. "i'll have to come back for the prey we caught after I drop you off."

I growled and looked down at him with raised brows, skeptically taking in his condition. "You're the one that should be freaking out, not me. And you won't have another eye if I smack you over the head so hard that the good one falls out. You shouldn't be getting this hurt on my expense." I frowned and I looked carefully at the wounded eye, squinting as I inspected it and prayed for it to still be intact and working by the time it got fixed up. "I have a lot of big pieces that won't be destroyed quite so easily, although I feel as if my paw if a different story." I lifted up my left leg carefully, my foot only flopping limply. "What, afraid I'd leave you over the fact that you look like hell attacked your face? Nah, you just look extra cool and sexy now, besides you'd probably cuff me over the ears and call me an idiot if I did something so shallow." I let out a rumbling laugh, voice easily flowing out despite the pain it was causing the surge in my head. I blinked at him and then grinned, showing off my slightly pink teeth. "You thought about it! I'd cheer, but that might make me pass out. Looks like we'll just have to do one big celebration tonight if we're able to, if you know what I mean." I gave him a sly smile and wiggled my 'brows' playfully. "Just so you know, I'll drag you back even if the medicine cat cuts my head open, and then I shall proceed to tell the entire clan all of your ticklish spots." I gave him a pointed stare before motioning my head forwards. "We need to get outta here before another one comes. It'll be a little hard for to make up for your limited sight despite how amazing I am."
