mockingpaw's green gaze scanned the apprentice den, her new home. she padded forward slowly, in a trance, as she took in the space. the black and white patterned moggie gaped at the size of the den, trying not to turn around and flee back to the cozy nursery. her paws scuffed the ground nervously and the tiny cat looked around for a den, as she had been instructed. she watched as a group of larger apprentices came towards her, before ducking out of the way as they glared at her. gulping, she turned around and spotted a den in the corner. it seemed unused, the moss quite hard and dry. mockingpaw trotted over to investigate, ears flattened against her skull as she ducked her head. prodding the moss with an unsheathed claw, she sniffed it and relished the smell of moss. she fluffed it up with a paw, making it softer, before stretching and lying down in it to fill it with her scent.

MAPS CAN BE POEMS WHEN YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN | Thicketpaw had brought his nursery habits into the apprentice den with him. He found it much more comfortable to sleep in the hollow under his nest, with the moss creating a strange roof/blanket over his head. At first he hadn't believed the nest hollow would be big enough for him, but luckily he'd lost a lot of weight during training, and he was no longer anywhere near as fat as he used to be. At a strange scraping sound, Thicketpaw popped his head up through the nest and looked around. For all intents and purposes he looked like a head rolling in the moss nest, the rest of his body still hidden. The pale tabby smiled as he witnessed another apprentice put the finishing touches on their nest. "It's a nice feeling, isn't it?" He purred in understanding. Mockingpaw |

mockingpaw jumped as a voice interrupted her hazy thoughts. a head was talking. a talking cat head. standing up quickly, she backed up against the edge of the den and gaped at it. "you... ergh... yeah." she managed to get out, as she realized that there was no threat. "uh... yeah!" she repeated with a bit more chirp, this time smiling weakly. she approached her nest again and lay down, suddenly feeling very tired. the whole moving process was a pain to endure and she flicked an ear, feeling a little calmer. "sorry about that. uh... so, what's your name?" the feline asked, attempting to make a smooth recovery.

MAPS CAN BE POEMS WHEN YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN | Oh right, he often forgot what kind of a sight he made at first. Most of his friends were used to it by now and didn't even blink when he emerged. An apologetic grimace crossed Thicketpaw's features at the she-cat's fright, though as soon as she appeared calm again he started laughing. "Sorry about that, I didn't mean to scare you so bad," he replied through a chortle. "My name is Thicketpaw," the tabby replied, pushing against the ground to move himself closer to the edge of his nest and to Mockingpaw. When he could, he rested his chin on the ground and watched her curiously. "Are you new? I spend so much time in here that I know most of the faces."MockingpawFriends! <3 |

mockingpaw playfully glared at the tom when he started laughing, but then started laughing herself. "that's alright." she said with a chuckle, smiling. sitting down, the black and white she-cat flicked an ear, curiously looking the other cat up and down. "thicketpaw, huh? i'm mockingpaw." she said, then nodded. "yeah. i'm new. i just got in here today. it's very different from the nursery." she said.

MAPS CAN BE POEMS WHEN YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN | "Mockingpaw?" It was such an unusual name, that Thistlepaw was quite intrigued by it. "Is it because you like to mock people or.....?" What a strange mother she had to have. All well, he liked unique things.
"Different is right; the nests are so much bigger! Or perhaps mine was so much bigger because I used to be so fat," he purred bashfully. "Who is your mother then? Do you miss the nursery?" |

mockingpaw smiled slightly. she got that question a lot. "no, i was named mockingkit because my mother thought i sounded like a mockingbird when i was born." she answered simply, then chuckled a little. "i get asked that question a lot." then she nodded eagerly, looking around at the nests. "they're huge! not just because of weight." she added, flopping down onto her stomach and stretching out. "my mother? her name's meadowlark. she's quite nice. i do miss her. i miss her a lot, i missed her as soon as i stepped into the apprentice den!" she replied, then shrugged. "i used to hate being around my mother, and now i miss her. same goes for the nursery. i'd do anything to be curled up next to my friends right now." she said, laughing a light laugh. "what about you? do you miss anything?"
