Sunfish padded towards the apprentices den. He was going to do a joint training with both Sunpaw and Knotpaw. He was going to let them be each other's sparring partners if they were up for it. He padded towards the apprentices den and poked his head in. "Sunpaw, @knot. Today were doing a joint training practice. Come on out." He called softly as he waited outside the den. He hoped they were excited. Today was going to be much more interesting than previous sessions. [If you want an assessment right away as soon as you reach 115 posts, PM me. Knotpaw was more used to waking up early now. The first time his mentor had called him to wake up he had been a little surprised, but this time Knotpaw was completely aware as to what was happening as he woke up. He yawned and blinked the sleep out of his eyes. Today was joint training, which meant fighting training. He was bouncing on his paws as he walked out of the den and sat beside Sunfish to wait for Sunpaw. He still thought those two names were funny. He liked to imagine that Sunpaw would become Sunwish once she was older and then they would be Sunfish and Sunwish.
"Hi Sunfish. I'm ready for training today." Knotpaw murmured to his mentor. He watched the den entrance watching for Sunpaw. Perhaps he should have poked her and made sure she was awake. She did have a nest right next to his. He frowned to himself. If she didn't wake up he was going to blame himself.

Sunpaw didn't wake up to Sunfish calling, but to Knotpaw making noise. "Ah quit it!" She meowed, then saw Knotpaw and Sunfish, "Wait! I'm coming!" Sunpaw scrambled out of her nest and bounded towards Sunfish, "Are we doin joint training? Are you going to teach us fighting moves?" she asked excitedly. Sunpaw had been looking forward to a lesson in fighting ever since she became an apprentice. Was today the day?

Sunfish smiled. "Good, now let's be off." He led the two to a familiar clearing where he usually trained his apprentices. He sat down and looked at the two. "We'll establish weak points. Know that a weak point for most cats it's area with soft flesh. The belly for example, is an open area for you to target. Areas like the throat are meant to be wary of. You never give a killing bite to the neck unless it's absolutely necessary. Now, I want you two to spar. I'll show you a few moves first."
He stood on all fours and flicked his tail. "A belly rake. Slice your claws against a foe's belly. If you are pinned this essentially is a good way to help you get yourself back into action. Move forward, wait for an opening and attack the opponent's open stomach area." He attacked the air as a demonstration but obviously it looked a little silly since he was hitting nothing.
"Another simple one is the front paw strike. Aim for the face or body. Slice downwards with one of your front paws." Once again he spoke as he showed the action, then turned to them. "Now try it on each other one at a time. Also, remember, sheathed claws."

When Sunpaw can out of the den Knotpaw smiled at her. At least she hadn't been late. Sunfish wasted no time in pleasantries and they were off into the territory right away. The territory was still really cool to Knotpaw. Perhaps eventually it would become boring, but for now it was still interesting and new. He stopped once they arrived at the clearing. It looked like a good place to train. There was room to move around, at least.
Sunfish launched right into explaining weak spots. He stated that they were soft flesh. Knotpaw tried to think of all the places on his body where he had soft flesh. Would his face count as something like that? It wasn't exactly soft, but that felt like a place that you wouldn't want to get hit. Sunfish directly mentioned the belly and the throat, of course he gave a warning about the throat and about not giving a killing bite.
Knotpaw watched as Sunfish began to explain and demonstrate two different moves. A belly rake and a front paw strike were what their names were. Knotpaw flicked his ear as he played out doing them in his mind. Attack the belly, attack the face or body. He turned to look at Sunpaw. He thought for a second. "You can go first." He stated. He wanted to see her do it before he tried it himself. Knotpaw braced himself to get hit with the attacks. Even with sheathed claws he had a feeling they wouldn't be pleasant.

Sunpaw bounded behind Sunfish as they entered the clearing. She listened to her mentor as he explained different fighting moves. The belly rake sounded hard to pull off without being under the opponent. The swipe sounded like a pretty basic move. It wasn't too specific, and it could be applied to many situations, unlike the belly rake. Sunpaw watched carefully as her mentor demonstrated the moves. It was kind of funny that he was pawing the air, but Sunpaw tried not to linger on that. Then Sunfish told her and Knotpaw that they would be sparring each other. Knotpaw apparently wanted to go second. He must have something planned, she thought. Sunpaw quickly got into a tense stance, her muscles tensed. She leaped into the air, attempting to swipe at Knotpaw's muzzle, trying to make the blow tough enough to throw him off balance.

Knotpaw had been a bit unsure of the instructions. He hadn't be sure as to if they were supposed to spar right now or if they were just practising the move before they sparred. The only reason he wanted Sunpaw to go first was so that he could decide what they were doing based on her actions. He knew, however, that if they were sparring then he would be at a disadvantage. He decided to take that chance.
Knotpaw watched as Sunpaw got into a tense stance. Knotpaw tried to kind of copy it, but he still wasn't exactly sure how to do a fighting stance and so he ended up just kind of getting lower to the ground without helping himself in any way. If anything he was just making himself slower. Still when the attack from Sunpaw came he let himself get hit. He assumed that they were sparring rather quickly after the attack considering how the paw to his face knocked him to the side a bit.
Knotpaw stumbled for a second before righting himself. He was pretty sure that was one of the attacks that Sunfish had showed them, so he should do the other one. Right? He started running at Sunpaw. He tried to think of the best way to get at her belly and attack there. Knotpaw pretended to trip and tumbled under Sunpaw before he stopped and tried to swipe, with sheathed claws, at her underbelly. His move probably looked stupid, but if it worked then he hoped Sunfish wouldn't mind.
