You're second hand smoke I breathe you in, but honey I don't know what you're doing to me The sun had just reached its highest point of the day and Tigerkit still felt like he hadn't done a single thing to be proud of. He sat at the edge of camp in the shadows trying to keep cool from the rays of the sun. He licked a paw and brought it over his dark brown striped ear. He sighed ultimately defeated. There was absolutely nothing for him to do. Everyone seemed to be out of camp doing things and today was not a day that he wanted to be stuck in the nursery playing moss ball with the other childish kits. He wanted to be out exploring the territory like the apprentices did. Of course he knew he still had a long time to go from now. He was just so impatient. No matter how much he reminded himself he would get his turn he could never make himself believe it.
Tigerkit flopped onto his side and stared at his big paws. He never seemed to understand how his paws could be so big and how his body could be so small. There was not a limit to the times he had fumbled over his gigantic feet. The tom sighed. He could not believe that he was so incapable of doing something, that he resorted to thinking about his oversized paws. Tigerkit huffed and looked up at the blue sky, trying to distract himself from his annoying thoughts

Today was an unusually hot day in Iceclan. The usually all-pervading snow clouds had partially given away to a few rays of sunshine. Not too horrible for most of the cats, of course, especially the half-clan ones. Silvercloud hated it though. Her long black pelt tended to trap heat well, and it was utterly sweltering for her, a cat who had long ago got used to the cold of her home clan. That was what had led her to pad towards her usual spot, a shaded bit on the fringes of camp. It was perfect in that she could always see what was going on, and yet stay in the shade whilst doing so. Today though, it seemed that she would have to share with someone else. The little tom was lying on his side, staring at his paws. And for a good reason. They were strangely large, larger than she had ever seen on a cat this small. From the cat's stature, she assumed that he was a kit, but his paws might disprove that theory. In any case, she wondered how he fared with those paws. Certainly they would be difficult to run with. But it was not in her place to pry. Settling herself down by the other cat, she turned to him and spoke cordially, "Well hello there. I'm Silvercloud." She wasn't entirely sure where this conversation with the kit who was in her spot would take her, but she was sure that it would be quite interesting. Conversations with kits almost always were.

Tigerkit heard a voice breaking him from his daydream. He jumped up from his unusual position on the ground. The small kit turned his head towards the voice and came across a warrior. Her pelt was long and black. She had introduced herself as Silvercloud. "I am Tigerkit" he boasted clambering onto his four feet clumsily. "Do you wanna join me in the shade." he offered with a playful smile.
Tigerkit waved his tail to the side gesturing for the warrior to come sit. He had so many questions to ask but he had no intention of asking them all right away. He could not seem clueless to this obviously skilled warrior. He had to keep his reputation of being the most knowledges and mature kit in the clan. Or so he thought he was.

Silvercloud nodded politely at the young kit. He seemed a little prideful, but it wasn't entirely too uncommon for kits. In fact, they usually grew out of it as they aged. And he did indeed seem nice enough. Smiling, she decided not to mention his clumsy clambering onto his paws. In fact, she was almost certain that he would grow into them. Large paws were typically an indication of a large cat, and if he met expectations, he would probably grow to be bigger that Silvercloud herself. Not that it meant much, of course. The black furred warrior was barely an acceptable size for a warrior. She obliged Tigerkit's invitation and sat down beside the kit, tucking her tail around her paws in a habitual act that stemmed from all too many kits and apprentices trying to nip at her tail. She was lucky indeed that she was all black. After all, it would be horrible to have a white spot on her tail. Her tail tip looked enough like a mouse to kits already. "Indeed I shall. Come on, no need to jump up like that. We can share the space." She dipped her head to the space beside her and glanced enquiringly at him.

Tigerkit looked over at Silvercloud as she strode over. She sat tucking her tail under her. He listened to her words and scoffed. "I was only jumping up to make space for you. I was going to sit here anyway" he said. He meant what he had told her. He had jumped up because he had taken up half the space laying down and no way was he stepping out into the hot sun today. He preferred snow.
"So, why are you here?" he asked even though he knew full well the answer. It was hot and she couldn't stand the sun. He had in fact only asked her so that he could start some conversation.

Silvercloud smiled again as the kit hurried to refute her statement. It was interesting, the fact he was saying it in a mocking tone of voice. The words themselves weren't offensive after all. Far from it. She didn't mind it though. As she had previously thought, she expected him to mellow as he grew. Cloudclan knew most kits did. Shrugging in answer to his question, she replied softly, "I'm here to get out of the sun. My pelt isn't particularly built for sun, after all. This is my usual spot here in camp." As she spoke, she made sure to add a gentle touch to her voice. She didn't want to scare Tigerkit, and in her experience if one told a kit that this was their spot, said kit would run immediately. Somehow though, she didn't think Tigerkit would behave like that. Still. Better safe than sorry.
(Bleh my muse is going flop.)

As Tigerkit had expected Silvercloud had said exactly what he had thought. Casually Tigerkit stretched out his back and then laid down again. He yawned as he did this. "I didnt know you had claimed this spot? I'm pretty sure it doesn't have your name written in the ground?" he said sarcastically scoffing a little at her remark. "We might just have to share this spot anyway. I think I have grown a bit of a liking to it." he mentioned running his tail along the ground.
"Anyway, Silvercloud." he tried to sound nonchalant in his next statement. "Got any apprentices or are you just living the careless warrior life?" he demanded. "Because if I were a warrior, I would never want an apprentice. It would take too much of my time. Who needs an apprentice when you can be battling or hunting for fresh prey." he said blankly.

Shaking her head in disapproval at the kit's lack of respect, she replied, trying to keep her patience. "And, if you would be so kind as to notice it, I never said that I had claimed this spot, but rather simply that it was my usual spot. There's a difference, little one, between those two statements, and you would do well to learn it before you assume things." She made sure to not be too snappy with the kit, but added a tinge of reproach into her voice. Tigerkit had to learn respect, and if it had to be from her, then so be it. Sighing again as the kit spoke of never wanting an apprentice, she realised that it wasn't entirely an unusual view for a kit. They tended to be always thinking about themselves, never about giving back to others. She didn't fault him for it, for she was almost certain that he would grow out of it. "In fact, I have four. Some of them have disappeared, but some others remain. And I personally enjoy training apprentices. It gives me a chance to give back to my clan, and build relationships with them." Indeed, she adored training sessions. It gave her a sense of higher purpose, and of worth. But maybe, Tigerkit just wasn't mature enough to see it yet. No matter. It would happen in time.
