cold as ice and more bitter than a december winter night. | The air was cool around this time of the year. This was in fact his favorite time, where winter cool seeped into the fur and cats huddled together for warmth. Ashfrost strolled leisurely though the territory. He had initially come out to hunt but after catching a mouse and Coke he had drifted off in a whirl of his own thoughts.
So much had happened since he had last really stopped and thought about...everything. He had just lost his mate and all of his friends had faded away. But on the brighter side, he just got an apprentice and couldn't wait to begin training.
Suddenly he heard a stick snap behind him and he flinched a touch before turning around to see who was stalking him. His eyes took a moment to just in the dying light of the disk before a cat's figure materialized before him.

Robinstar was afraid nighttime walks were beginning to grow routine. It was often what he did when he had something on his mind, something that bothered him. That particular night, he was thinking about Lionstrike and Spiderleaf, the two that he had let recently join. Little did that Clan know, he had close ties to both of them and he was worried, as always. From his experience, IceClanners didn't take a liking to newcomers very often, and, on a more personal matter, he knew the two didn't exactly get along between themselves.
The leader looked up at the sky, a cool breeze blowing his fur out of place. He certainly didn't mind cold weather—when he'd first joined, he hated it. But it wasn't long before he grew to like it, love it even. After all, it was in his nature. He studied the stars, wondering if Reese, his mother, was up there watching him. And, once again, he wondered about her. What don't I know about her? He wanted to know everything, to know what kind of a person she was before being pushed out. That, in the beginning, was why he had come to IceClan.
He hadn't really seen Ashfrost until the other feline turned to face him. Robinstar wasn't exactly looking for company, in fact, he would have rather avoided it. "My apologies," he said, watching the other tom with his emotionless gaze.

cold as ice and more bitter than a december winter night. | When the figure of the cat before Ashfrost finally came into focus, recognition crashed through his body as he dipped his head and muttered a greeting to his leader. They had never really met before and Ashfrost wasn't exactly sure how to act around the leader who seemed a but disturbed to be in attention of another.
He could understand that though. Ashfrost himself liked the time alone where he didn't have to put op a guard and play pretend around others. Where it was okay to feel and even look sad because no one was watching. He also knew that being interrupted from it didn't feel so great. With his fierce silver eyes, Ashfrost studied the cat in front of him before making another noise.
"Terribly sorry to interrupt you, Robinstar." He said solemnly backing up a bit.

Robinstar dipped his head in greeting as well. He didn't recognize Ashfrost, but he wasn't surprised. IceClan was large and it was easy to miss faces in the crowd—and he knew that he'd definitely not given the warrior his ceremony. He's about my age, isn't he? Perhaps he's been here long enough to know my mother. The idea frightened yet excited him, but he kept his calm exterior around him like a blanket. Terribly sorry to interrupt you, Robinstar. The name came as a slight shock to the leader, and it took him a moment to respond. "It's quite alright," he promised.
The name. His new name. He held so much pride in it—how could he not?—but he also felt regret. He was told to avoid IceClan. In fact, all of the Clans. That was what Reese had taught him and Leo as they grew up, and her wish up until she had died. But what had Robin done? He'd gone back on his promises, disobeyed his dead mother. He'd done more than disobeyed her—he'd become the leader of the very Clan she'd run away from. He began to move away from Ashfrost, left to his misery once more, when he paused. "What's your name?" He asked suddenly, not quite sure why he'd done it.
