cold as ice and more bitter than a december winter night. | Morning came to early for Ashfost as he rolled out of bed with a bitter groan. Life along with time had been hard on Ashfrost and he just needed a bright day today. It took a moment to realize that he had an apprentice to train today making him get up a bit faster. Quickly, he grabbed a light meal before padding over to the apprentice den.
"Aright Dreampaw!" He called in a bit of a loud, overly harsh voice. As much as he had taken a liking to the kit (now apprentice) he was her mentor now and he mentored a bit hard to create a good and strong warrior who didn't break easily. He taught as he had ben taught but his won mentor. "Get ut Dreampaw and look sharp. I'll see you by the camp entrance. You can grab a bite to eat after the training session today.
He turned to walk away but paused a moment to look behind him. "And hurry while your at it," he added before padding to the entrance to wait ever so not patiently.

Dreampaw woke up sleepily. CloudClan, has night really went by that fast? She sluggishly got out of her nest, already missing not having to be woken up by a mentor wanting to train really early in the morning. Stretching and grooming herself quickly but nicely, she went out of the Apprentice's Den, really seeming to notice a cool breeze come by, blowing on her fur. The sky was a beautiful shade of blue, but she didn't look at it that long as she would've when she was a kit. She already felt older, more responsible, having the duty of defending and hunting for her clan. Walking to the fresh-kill pile, she picked out a mouse, not being all that hungry, and if some cat was very hungry, they would be annoyed to see a large piece of fresh-kill taken by an apprentice who would most likely leave most of the perfectly fine fresh-kill to become crow-food. She ate the mouse quickly, being motivated to get on with training like defending a defenseless kit from a blood-thirsty fox. After eating, she ran to Ashfrost, eager to get on with training. "What are we doing today?" She asked, wondering if it would be hunting, battle, or just a simple tour of the territory.

cold as ice and more bitter than a december winter night. | When he saw Dreampaw step out of the den and take freshkill to eat then come his way he felt a little disappointing. Had he not just told her to eat after the training session? Yet she had just taken from the pile and ate anyways. Had she just ignored him? This ignoring thing that she might have been doing was not going to work out well in training. If she wanted to learn to be a good warrior, she first had to learn to be coach-able and listen carefully. He bowed his head a little when Dreamkpaw walked up to him and asked what they were doing.
"Nothing much today," He said sternly leading the way out of the camp. "Territory tour today." he began walking and when they were a good distance from the camp he turned back around and faced his apprentice. Better clear things up here. "Alright lets go over some rules for today," He said. "Stick with me at all times, don't go running ahead and don't lag behind either. If I tell you to do something I expect it to be done because to could pertain to keeping you safe, alright?" Another pause. "Being a good warrior comes from the fighting skills and hunting you will learn to do. But being a great warrior comes from the listening to others and compassion as well as wisdom combined with your physical skills. During our training, I want to make you a great warrior but you must decide what type you want to be."

"Got it, Ashfrost." Dreampaw said, thinking over what Ashfrost has said. Would she be a caring mother, a regular warrior or a blood-thirsty cat that wanted to rule all the clans? For the first time she seemed to notice the forested area around the camp, and the two mountains as well. For a minute she wondered how it looked like in FireClan or TreeClan, how it would it be like chasing rabbits or climbing in the trees. A leaf seemed to float and landed on her, making her jump and when she realilized that it was only a petty little leaf, she felt relived that only Ashfrost saw what had just happened. Dreampaw wandered if a piece of prey appeared, Ashfrost would tell her to try to catch it. Most likely not, but couldn't help wondering. She felt as if a surge of energy went through her, her mind almost seeming to say 'Hey! Let's go and have an adventure!' All of this seemed like a moon of thinking, but it was only a short time.

cold as ice and more bitter than a december winter night. | Ashfrost could literally feel the excitement teeming inside his apprentice. He sort of allowed a smile at her as they padded at a semi-quick pace to the first border of FireClan. "Tours today," he said on the way picking up the pace even more to get this part done with. Territory tours were not exactly the most fun after all.
When he got to the border he marked it and then turned to Dreampaw. He wasn't going to tell her what clan was on the other side of the boundary but wanted her to guess. "Alright," he said sharply. "What do you smell? What do you see?" He paused to let her observe. "Based on what you observe tell me what clan lived here," he instructed. "And then give me reasons for why."

Listening to her mentor, she smelled the other Clan's scent markers. They had a fowl stench, with a slight scent of rabbit in it. She looked on as the all too new but familiar IceClan territory streched out into massive plains, as far as the eyes could see. She spotted a hawk in the far away from the border, at the edge of her sight so it looked like a little dot in the sky. The dot suddenly dropped down, like it was hunting. She felt lucky that she wasn't a FireClan cat, living in fear of a hawk easily spotting you and taking you away. She knew that there were hawks and other birds of prey in IceClan, but only in the very mountainous parts of the territory. "Based on the wide spreading plains, and a strong smell of rabbit, I think it is FireClan territory." Dreampaw said, almost seeming to know that her answer was correct.

cold as ice and more bitter than a december winter night. | Ashfrost mused at the confidence that Dreampaw answered with. She was confident she had the right answer and she did. But perhaps her reason ha for choosing the clan were a bit off, good, but a tad vague. It was alright though, she has gotten the right place.
"FireClan indeed," Ashfrost confirmed. "Known for their quickness and their agility. A retain that is mostly smooth with less forestation. It's good to remember that these cats can be nice but proud and they are extremely quick hunting mostly birds."
Then he began to move away from the border and down the path to the opposite side of camp. He looked behind him once to see that Dreampaw was following and seen that he did he walked in a fairly quick pace to the other border. "What place is this one?" He asked looking over to the rough terrain and little shrubbery.

Dreampaw looked over the unknown territory, peering closely over the rocky, rugged terrain. The scent markers slightly smelled of bird, but the strange scent overlaped all other scents that could aid her. She inspected the shrubbery and sky, and realilzed that it was obviously RockClan. 'And now I realilize It's RockClan's territory! Wow, sometimes I can just be plain mouse-brained.' Dreampaw thought to herself, starting to doubt herself and her abilities when she thought that thought and her ear twitched in embarrassment, then remembered that Ashfrost couldn't read her mind, that only made her even more embarrassed. She heard a tweet from a nearby bird, which brought her back to realality. CloudClan, she was overreacting about a little mistake. 'Okay, keep your calm Dreampaw. You're just overreacting. Be calm, and keep your head out of the clouds.' "I think this territory is RockClan's territory because of the rocky cliffs and the small amount of plants. Also, RockClan cats have a talent for digging, from what I heard." Dreampaw said, sounding slightly unconfident, almost nervous for some reason.

cold as ice and more bitter than a december winter night. | Again, another right answer and Ashfrost smiled pleased. Good girl, he thought. When Dreampaw wanted, she could be very smart and quick, something she should need later. Silently, he observed her a moment before moving. She seemed a bit unsure and unsteady with herself but he didn't mind her uncertainty. It reminded him that she still was an apprentice and this was only her first day. It was something they could both look back on one day and see the massive improvement she had made. He quickly marked the territory and then spoke quickly about RockClan.
"They are great climbers, obviously. They have hard pads on their feet from where they have climbed so often and they are relatively strong and bigger built. They hunt birds and little rodents but they have to often be weary for snakes."
Ashftost began to move out again. He wanted to sum up the tour quickly as possible. She would learn more about this place when she trained in hunting and combat. She would learn more about the clans from experience from them and the gatherings she was now able to attend. This was just a minor lesson.
He lead them towards the last remaining clan and stood behind the border, looking out. Then he turned to Dreampaw and nodded to the other clan territory. "It's obviously TreeClan," he said to her. "But besides this being the only clan we haven't touched on, tell me why else this would be TreeClan." he paused for a moment and smiled. "Besides the fact that there are trees...lots of them."

Dreampaw was confused on what other facts that would make it obvious that TreeClan's territory that would make it... whelp, TreeClan's territory. Assuming by all the trees there would be lots of squirrels. CloudClan, one just passed by far away right now. She carefully inspected the territory for any clues and looked at a Blue Jay as it was flying away from the two cats. Her tail's tip twitched in annoyance that there were not all that many obvious clues other then than that the territory had trees everywhere you looked, tree after tree, and so on. She couldn't imagine everywhere she looked being plains or trees. It just wouldn't be normal, and it wouldn't be normal for any cats from FireClan or TreeClan to live here also. Considering that scent markers would be a key factor, but that one was pretty obvious. "Err... because there are way too many squirrels around this border, not to mention TreeClan cats are like large squirrels." Dreampaw said, fairly certain that she would probably be scolded for making an obvious statement, but it was true. Too many squirrels for her taste around this border.
(Maybe hunting training. Too many squirrels O3O )

Ashfrost chuclked a but at the response. It was fair, after all. What else could really define the clan without mentioning the trees. He had just wanted to see what she could come up with. She had done fair after all.
"Right," he said. "Lots of squirrels and birds. There is always lots of ground greenery and brooks and such. "Very good Dreampaw. Let's head back to camp. We will train hunting tomorrow."
He smiled again and started heading home.
