Icepaw's Training//Day 2//Hunting

"My paws great! Just might have skimmed it." She said calmly as she checked her pure white paws. A sigh of relief left her smiling mouth as she saw no blood. "Yep all good!" She said cheerfully.

[Petalfur]

    "Okay, well lets try it again with those corrections," Petalfur instructed, using a claw to pull up a clump of moss from the edge of the clearing and tossing it towards a little grove of grass. "Pretend that's prey. Stalk it, stay upwind of it, and pounce it. Do the best you can and I'll work with what you know"

Ice nodded and got down doing everything that Petalfur showed her. All the corrections fitted in. Finally she pounced hitting the target and pinning it down swiftly. "How was that?" She asks.

[Petalfur]

     "Great! Try arcing into the air a little more, and it will give you more room to pounce," Petalfur responded with a warm smile. She was glad that Icepaw's training was going swiftly. "You won't have to worry about that too much if you can sneak up on the prey on your own. Now, do you want to try catching some real prey?"

Icepaw smiled at the praise. When Petalfur gave her the advice she made a mental note to try doing that to revive more pouncing room. Her eyes gleemed as Petalfur asked if she wants to try hunting real prey. "Id love too!" She said excited.

    Nodding, Petalfur smiled and flicked her ear for her apprentice to follow her further into the woods. "The first thing you'll need to do is find a place to hunt, which will depend on the prey you are intending to hunt," Petal began, leading Icepaw into slight clearing with boulders surrounded by it quite some ways away. "Sniff the air, and determine what you smell, where it is, where its going, and how old the smell is. That will be your initial tracking portion. Go ahead and try."

Icepaw nodded as she followed Petalfur into the clearing. When she finished right away she sniffed the air for any sign of prey. Her nose caught the scent of a vole. She determined it was heading towards the north and was fresh. She caught a glimpse of it. "Found it." She whispered.

Petalfur

    Nodding slightly, Petalfur silently slipped up into the lower branches of a nearby tree, patiently waiting to see how her apprentice would use her new knowledge.

Icepaw for into her hunters crouch and stalked forward slowly. She felt her paw clench the ground. Her hauches close together and her tail and head at the same level. She felt anxious. Her tail twitch as she neared the vole. Finally when she was two fox length away she pounced landing right on the preys spin leaving it defenseless. Her teeth sank into the prey till it went limp as she Carried to her mentor.

    Tensing nervously when she saw Icepaw's anxious tail twitch, Petalfur feared that the vole would see her apprentice's mistake. If the vole did see Icepaw, it was too late or two slow to escape, and the apprentice caught it, much to the pleasure of Petalfur.
    "Very well done!" Petalfur exclaimed, leaping down from her post on the tree branch. She decided not to spoil Icepaw's first kill by rambling on about her mistake in allowing her tail to twitch. She must have great warrior blood somewhere in her lineage, Petalfur thought, regarding Icepaw's swift learning. She will make an amazing warrior. "Lets get a few more attempts in before we head in."

I figure we can just be like "and they walked into the trees, hand in hand, ready to hunt a bit more" and then there will be a timelapse from this thread to the next, in which Icepaw has mastered hunting and we move on to battle training. I'll make that thread short since you are approaching your warrior post count. That work?
