Hailpaw stood on top of a boulder, proud that she'd been able to climb it. It really wasn't that big, but to her it felt like standing on top of a mountain. Now her job was to find out how wide the top of the rock was. She set one paw forward, pleased as it touched stone. She did it again, though this time it only swiped through the air. The blind she-cat went tumbling forward, hitting the ground with a thump. Hailpaw groaned and got up, wondering how ridiculous she looked. She got up and sat down stiffly, trying to ignore the pain. What an idiot.

He watched from a far, this being what he was doing most of his day. Even in a clan full of dozens of other cats he still felt like her guardian. Although, she had never wanted a guardian. To take pity on her was to commit a sin. Hailpaw was like everyone else. As smart, as agile, as good of a fighter and hunter as everyone else. Although he didn't think this. Because one day she would be greater than everyone else. He would see to this.
Webpaw took the boulders he was currently standing on in a few strides once the female apprentice had fallen. Standing before her and letting his scent wash over her before he would open his jaws so he wouldn't startle her. "Never cease to amaze me Hailpaw." He mewed, a warm and friendly tone edging his voice as he addressed his twin.

Hailpaw frowned, catching Webpaw's scent as he made his way over. "So you watched my great fall, huh?" She sighed. "It took me forever to climb that thing!" She thumped her tail against the ground in annoyance. Maybe one day she'd have the strength to climb it again. Rocks like those seemed to be everywhere in the territory, even though she'd only been through it once. The apprentice bit her lip. Why had Scarletfire left? Was she just too hard to train?
Hailpaw stopped her thoughts, remembering that her brother was near and that it would be rude to stay silent. "How's your training going?" She recalled him getting the mentor Redfern. I hope they aren't too tough on him. He might cry! She snickered at the thought.

Webpaw smirked and let his voice soften even more in the presence of his sister. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll improve," the tom purred with a flick of his tail.
She then mentioned his mentor, Redfern. So far she had been a decent mentor. Not one much for words, but a decent mentor. Not only was she a warrior but a senior warrior, in other words this meant he was being trained by the best. "Redfern is a great mentor from what I can tell so far." Webpaw replied, shrugging. "What about you?"

She smiled. "That's wonderful. I hope she's kind to you." Hailpaw shrugged as he bounced the question back. "Scarletfire took me out once and never got me again." Her smile faded. "I didn't know I was that tough to train." She shook her head. It didn't matter anyway.
Hailpaw took a breath and moved to a happier topic. "So, have you made any friends? Any special she-cat got your eye?" She started giggling.

Webpaw snorted, flicking his tail and looking away with a smirk. "Now come on Hail," He mewed, his voice slightly tainted by the smirk about his jaw. "You know me... I don't attract friends... or the ladies for that matter."
The darker orange tabby shrugged. He wasn't the best at making friends in the first place and actually found it to be quite difficult. Web just couldn't find himself to be... kind to many. "What about you. Any friends around your way?"

"Pshh, I bet you're lying." In her opinion, Webpaw was very friendly. She wouldn't be surprised if he became popular with the clan.
She shrugged. "There's been a few, though I haven't seen them in a while." Hailpaw meowed. Bumblepaw wasn't around anymore, and she hadn't seen Viperkit either. It seemed common for RockClanners to just get up and disappear. She frowned. What if that happened to herself or Webpaw?
The she-cat shuffled her paws, expression becoming sadder as her mind wandered off to something else. "Did you hear that Spiderleaf left?"

The tom nodded and rolled his head left and right in a sort of movement that showed he was on the bubble with the statement she had just brought up. "I hadn't heard, rather than noticed." He clarified for himself. Webpaw hadn't seen the former queen around in awhile and figured she wasn't coming back once they brought in a replacement for her. "Although, I'm sure Brackensky will be a great queen in her place."
Spiderleaf had taken the two of them in, and raised them as her own. Although, he had never really felt all that close to the female. His sister was better at building firm bonds with cats.
"Where do you think she got off to?" He added, meeting his sister's blind gaze. I wonder if she can feel my eyes on hers...

"Of course. I'm not saying Brackensky wouldn't, I just..." She shrugged. "I'll miss Spiderleaf." She had heard the rumor traveling through the apprentice's den about the she-cat's disappearance, and she checked the nursery to see if it was true. Sure enough, Spiderleaf's scent was stale.
Hailpaw tilted her head. "I don't know. Do you have any idea?"

The orange tabby shrugged, taking a seat and planting his rear on the ground. "To be honest I have no idea." They were apprentices, and he guessed they weren't all that important to be knowing everything that was going on. He didn't even know if the rest of the clan had already noticed. "But she will be missed." Webpaw added, shoving his cold nose into his sister's pelt.
He had never been great at comforting. But it was worth a try.
"What do you say we go do something and try to get our minds off it?"

Hailpaw flinched as she felt something cold push into her pelt. She frowned and turned her head to Webpaw, beginning to groom his face fluff. "Why are you so cold? Are there enough feathers in your nest?" She asked, voice a little muffled by his fur. The apprentice stopped and sat back once he asked a question. "What did you have in mind?"

Webpaw purred and shrugged at her comment of him being cold, "Probably just my heart, nothing to worry about." It was interesting how she could know exactly where everything was on his body. Like she knew what was going on and where. Very interesting.
"I would love to see how your training is coming along." The tabby mentioned, picking up his mussel and shoving it into the air as he scented for prey. "Tell me Hailpaw. What can you smell."

"Oh, be quiet." She meowed, nudging his shoulder. "Your heart is warmer than most cats'. But really, remake your nest tonight. It's gonna be colder soon." She said, sitting up straight and closing her eyes.
Hailpaw gave the air a quick sniff as he finished speaking. "I don't smell anything."
