Loki had been wandering aimlessly, eyes stinging from the long nights before when he'd cried his heart out. His mother had been murdered by a fox, or so he remembered. If only he were strong enough to protect her. To be quite frank, he wasn't sure of her death, as she told him to run, though he never witnessed her murder.
A small gash was found on his side, from the fox. Being so distracted, and distant, the tom hadn't realized there was another cat not too far away from him, their scent now overwhelming. He couldn't tell if it were a fox or not, so his fur stood on end, and he let out a slight hiss. His eyes spelled hatred, burning like tiny balls revenge he'd been craving. "Who's there?!" he called, looking around angrily. Cookie

(yikes sorry i'm like four days late and i'll ask her later (like irl) if she wants to join because she has like six accounts, one staff tooooo so she may not wanna join another thread)
Cookie had been standing behind a bush when the little cat spoke. He was queer, not specifically in the physical but just his behaviour, his walking, sort of erratic but sort of not. His emotions rippled over his young face in a way unfamiliar to Cookie--her own emotions so rarely displayed themselves on the surface, of her choice or not, and Panda, though a river of feeling, kept her negative ones to herself in an effort to protect her younger sister.
This was new.
His face was twisted in grief and rage so that it looked crippled. His fur was rumpled and kind of dirty, and his eyes looked raw.
"Who's there?"
Cookie stood stock still, but her eyes widened a little bit, and she twitched her whiskers. She lifted a paw, set it down, and then said, "I'm over here."
The white and black patched cat rounded the bush to look him head on, and she narrowed her eyes a little bit, tipping her head to one side like it was a heavy weight. "How'd you get that scratch?"

{it's cool! i don't mind}
His tension subsided as he realized it was another loner. Even though it was a female cat, he knew better than to underestimate. He shouldn't have been doubting his mother either then. Of course, if he'd had a father to fight the fox, he would never have doubted his father's abilities.
His usual calm self returned, with a small grin edged into his features. The looked seemed to say, in his mother's opinion, that he gave no care in the world. It was probably true.
"Sorry about that," he apologized slowly, his gaze drifting to the cat's interesting pelt. "I got it from a fox... it's a dangerous predator," he finished. "I couldn't fight it off." He would've tried, but he was too young and inexperienced, regardless. It probably wouldn't have made much of a difference.
"Names' Loki," the tom grinned, offering a friendly smile. It was as if he hadn't just been having serious mental problems whatsoever.

His demeanor changed nearly instantly and Cookie narrowed her eyes at the small grin, nearly a smirk, that he so easily adopted.
"I know what a fox is," she mewed, her face unchanging. "That's. Bad." She lifted her eyes to the sky, trying to think of what might be an appropriate response. "I'm sorry." That was what Panda always had said when Cookie had scratched herself, which didn't really make sense since Panda hadn't even been around, but she supposed that's what you were supposed to say.
"Loki. That's a weird name." She stood for a second, just looking at him. His whole vibe was strange--not necessarily bad, just weird, though she was one to talk. He seemed friendly. Ish. "Oh. I'm Cookie."

"I know what a fox is." "Oh," he stated simply in response to the she-cats'. He guessed it wouldn't have been too surprising. Although, they were beginning to grow more scarce now, as it was approaching the season where it became cold. He wondered... had she experienced that yet? Probably so.
"That's. Bad. I'm sorry." He smiled. "No, it's... fine," he finished. "I'd originally been searching for a certain plant to help with my wound." The tom sighed. "It's been difficult to find, though, since it's growing colder, and the frost is killing all the plants. Luckily enough for him, his mother had taught him about the so-called 'herbs' before he'd left her.
"Oh. I'm Cookie." He tilted his head, feeling interested. "That's... an interesting name," he began. Then the question that he'd been originally planning to ask her returned. "Oh, right... do you have any family or friends around here?" he asked. It was a bit concerning being alone, since it could prove difficult without the help of others, to survive.

Cookie twitched her whiskers. "What plant is it?" She had no idea plants could potentially help with wounds. It sounded ridiculous.
"Do you have any family or friends around here?" Cookie narrowed her eyes, pausing for almost ten full seconds before saying, "My older sister, Panda. We ran away from our Twolegs together."

"Er, well, it's actually more of a root..." the tom trailed off. "I didn't learn much from my mom, but I know cobwebs can stop the bleeding and that burdock root can prevent any sort of infection." He never knew how helpful plants could be. "Oh, I see," he mewed, thinking for a moment. Was there a reason her sister wasn't with her? What if something happened to one of the sisters and the other one couldn't find out? It seemed a bit concerning...
A moment passed. Then another. He hated to ask for favors, but since he had originally been looking for the plant (or the root) to help him, he would need to do that soon. He was bleeding to death while keeping a somewhat friendly conversation with another cat. "I was wondering if you could help me find the burdock root and cobwebs?" he asked. "I could even show you have to use them if you're ever in need of them."

(aw dang so sorry i'm late)
"Oh." Cookie scratched her ear. "That's interesting."
There passed a comfortable silence between them--comfortable for her at least, though Panda said it was mostly awkward. At last Loki asked for her help.
"Oh," she repeated. "Yeah, okay! Where are they?"

{it's fine, I am too ^^}
"Well for starters; looks. The burdock root is a dull, pale green with purple leaves/flowers and I'm guessing you're already familiar with cobwebs?" he asked, turning to the she-cat after getting to his paws, a bit light-headed. The bleeding had slowed, but it hadn't stopped. He'd lost a lot of blood before, so he assumed he would be fine though he wasn't actually positive.
"I could find the root and you could find the cobweb?" the tabby asked. "Cobweb can be found pretty much anywhere, so you probably won't have much trouble finding it. You might find burdock root in ditches or near bodies of water and it grows more often in the sunlight. You're more likely to find it in the sun while cobwebs are more likely to be found in deserted and shady areas." He wasn't sure if that had helped much, but now she knew what they looked like and the locations.
"If that's it, do you want to start looking now?" His side was starting to ache while his senses had begun to grow lazy and erratic. It wasn't obvious just yet, but it would've been soon.

(sorry i'm so late and a happy christmas/hannukah/whatever u do or don't celebrate!)
She listened closely to his description of the burdock, nodding after a second in response to his asking about her familiarity with cobwebs. "There were a lot in my old Twoleg's house."
She brightened a little bit. "I think I know where a ditch is," she mewed, and dashed away without thinking to ask if we was going to come with or look separately. Intent on her journey, she nosed her way through the woods until she arrived at the place she'd seen earlier, a steep descent into an old ditch.
She passed a clump of cobwebs clinging between a stone and the dirt ground, making a note to return for those, but looking around more closely for his description of burdock. She'd already forgotten some--green, wasn't it, with purple flowers? Blue? She spotted some purple flower-y things right away and padded over to them, nosing at the roots, a dull green. That sounded about right.
