So I wrote a essay about things I would carry to War and I want your guy's opinion on how it sounds. So read and tell me. Thanks guys. - Maddi
What would I bring to war? That's a good question.. There are many things meaningful to a person even if it's not dramatic like a pin from your grandfathers day in the world war. It could be something simple like a dog tag that has your dog's name, or a picture of your cat. It could be anything. Everything has meaning to you. You just gotta think hard about what has the most meaning. For me, I don't know that I could only bring three items. I have so much that would keep me sane and remind me what I'm fighting for. But if I had to pick I would bring my grandma's knitted blue pink and white blanket, a picture of my cat, dog, and reptiles all sitting together, and my blue bracelet with a silver snake on it.
What do this silly objects mean to me? Well lets see.. The blue, pink, and white blanket are simple. This blanket was knitted to represent one of my favorite racers at Colorado National Speedway, Scotty Badman. His car consisted of blue, white, pink and black a very colorful car. I was always entertained by him and he was like a uncle to me. When I would fall asleep at the track he would be there holding my sleeping body while talking to his other fans. I would always run straight to him whenever the races ended. He was my role model. And my grandma saw this, she loved to knit blankets and so she wanted me to be warm when I was at the track. Even in her sick state she would be knitting me this blanket. It was longer than me at the time and it still is to this day. She made it so it would wrap around my whole body and make me feel comforted. She did the same for my schnauzer Junior.
My grandma had colorectal cancer and wasn't doing too hot. But she wanted to make sure her grandkids and actual kids had something to always keep them warm she didn't stop knitting till the day she died. And to this day the blanket is there always embracing me in warmth, it was made from true love and I swear I can feel her hugging me when I have it wrapped around me. Yes it makes me shed tears, but it lets me know that I am strong and I can continue on.
As for the picture of my many many pets, I can see you finding that simply humorous. Sure you can see someone taking a picture of their dog and kids together but a whole picture of just animals? You may just see that. But I see more than just a silly picture. I see my family. See my dog Junior I've had since I was four. He is now 13 and still alive to this day. He has been there for everything, from me hurting myself, to my grandma dying, to just the days when I needed a friend. He's my little protector and I honestly don't know what'd I do without him. When I first got him I met him and his two siblings brother and sister. I walk in and called them all squirrels. Everyone laughed at me but I thought they were baby squirrels I wanted one! Then there's Mystery who is my black and white Maine Coon kitten. She just recently came into my life but she's made a big impact. I never thought an animal could have so much energy it's scary sometimes but she's always playing and making me laugh. I can't be in a bad mood with her.
There is also Aphrodite, Savage, Nefertiti, Brownie, and Amneris. These are my bearded dragons, All different ages and different morphs I've always wanted a dragon and I got Aphrodite on my seventeenth birthday. The rest just kind of showed up over time. They love me, they always cuddle, and just run around and play. They all have very different personalities. There is also Eclipse, Leonardo, Citrus, Ranger, Sunfire, Jezebel, Blix, Piggy, and Christopher these are my leopard geckos. I have a lot yes, but all of them are in my care. They came to me sick and stayed with me healthy. They all look up to me I wake up, see their smiles and start my day with a smile. Strange right? I never though a small critter could give me so much joy. I never thought I'd have this many. There's also Vader who is my ball python, my baby. He came to me nearly dead he would not eat or drink. I bathed him every day and tried to feed him. He eventually became healthy, and to this day, is the most exploring guy I have ever met. There is also Faolon my hedgehog. He came to me a about a month ago his owner could no longer watch him so I took him in and called him my own. He is a shy timid guy, but once you get him out, he will play, run, kiss, he will be a adorable child. I also had two toads. Athena and Zeno.. Athena was a baby southern leopard toad. She was my baby you held her and she didn't jump she just cuddled she'd look at you with such curiosity and wonder. She passed away at the age of six months. Zeno was a little dare devil always trying to escape. He died at the age of 5 and half months. Both lived such different lives but were so fun to have. I had Hercules a male bearded dragon came to me with nipped tail and horrible lump on his mouth. He died on me because he couldn't eat. It was really depressing. Then there was Zoser, he was a male leopard gecko Ranger and Citrus gave birth to and just like Ranger his dad, he had melatonin bone disease and he was born way too early. Extremely skinny. He died from refusal to eat and lack of calcium. I knew it was going to happen but the short time I had him seemed so.. right like I was meant to have him for that short time, it barely hurt when he passed knowing I tried.
These guys are my family, and without them I don't know where I'd be. This is why I'd have a picture, to see the smiles, to feel the love, to be comforted even without them being there.
Then there's the bracelet. It's just a simple blue rope bracelet with a silver snake on it and fake diamonds. It doesn't look like much but the story behind it is so much more than just showing i'm a crazed reptile lover. This bracelet was given to me by a very special male named Alex. We were at a reptile convention with our job Jurassic Pets. We were running the petting Zoo and I had all my animals, and then we had some from the store, It was insane but fun at the same time. When we finally reached our goal in money we closed down the petting Zoo for a few and explored around too see the animals that were being sold. I had my wallet in my hand ready to get more I always get a new reptile every day it seems. But then Alex had stopped me mid-walking and turned me to view some bracelets and stone creations. I stared in interest as I looked at all the bracelets and surely enough the blue one caught my eye. I held it and tried it on. I asked the guy how much it was and before I could even pay Alex was handing him his money. He didn't let me buy one thing that day instead he spoiled me with gifts. He told me "Think of it as a welcome to the store gift" I had never smiled that big in my life. I hold it close to my heart because that day I realized I had a true friend, someone who saw the real me, and wasn't afraid to help me be me. The bracelet was the start of a bright friendship. It would help me remember my work and all the great friends I have there that I am fighting for that I am protecting. It will help me remember Alex. It will show me that I have a world to go back to, a reason to keep on fighting.
This here, is why I would bring these three objects, silly or not they have a deeper meaning than most would think. These would help me get through the war with what little sanity I have left. These would me get home, these give me the reason to fight to live. These are the things that I would carry.
