[did i not make this? sorry, i thought i did]
Dappledleaf got up wearily, early in the morning. Her limbs were sore though she knew it was probably just because she'd been so busy lately and had rarely gotten sleep. Before heading out, she groomed her fur and made herself look presentable as always. She padded out of the nursery and in the direction of the apprentices' den.
"Dreampaw," she whispered. "Time to get up so we can begin training." Pulling her head out of the den, she made her way over to the fresh kill pile where she grabbed a small fish. Taking it to exit, she sat down and began to nibble on it while waiting for her baby child apprentice and daughter. Dreamwish

Dreampaw got up sleepily, still not used to waking up early in the morning. She streched, wondering what her and Dappledleaf would do today. The wind rustled the branches of the trees surrounding the camp, giving off a mood of peace and tranquility. Yawning, she padded out of the Apprentice's Den, noticing that the last warrior of CloudClan was still out.
She padded over to her mentor and sat down next to her. Her legs were still stiff and eyes still heavy from sleeping. The early morning sun was shining beautifully, and drops of dew were on the grass. Then, all of a sudden she realilized that she hadn't groomed herself. She was slightly embarrassed as she licked her fur, smoothing it down. After that, she asked, "What are we doing today, Dappledleaf?"

[horrible mentor, ohmygosh, sorry! late merry christmas!!]
She took the last bite of her fish and then paused to think. "Your previous mentor was Ashfrost, yes?" the queen asked, thinking. She hadn't been told what they had trained on, exactly. "Well, it just depends. Would you mind telling me what you've already done and possibly what you would like to start the day with?"
She thought she'd try a new way of mentoring, not neccessarily less strict, but what would hopefully make her future apprentices more comfortable during training. Plus, she didn't like being strict with her apprentices. She wanted them to enjoy their apprenticeship, not live in fear of the next training session or even seeing the mentor's face. She shook her head to clear it.
"After that we can begin, OK?" she asked, smiling at the calico.

"Yep, my previous mentor was Ashfrost. We already took the territory tour, and I think he said that I'd want to do hunting training." Dreampaw said, wondering why most other apprentices would likely choose battle training first. However, she would only want to battle in situations where it was completely necessary. Plus, battle training would be much more harder, and it would be more challenging, and she would want to get used to how training works and how hard it would be.

( happy 2016! )
"All right," the tabby replied. "Hunting it is, then." The tabby got up and stretched her long limbs, then groomed her fur quickly. She'd assumed Dreampaw wasn't hungry or didn't care, as she hadn't grabbed something to eat before they left. Wanting to respect the elders and leave them food was different than being a queen, so she couldn't afford not to eat.
She set off in direction of the hunting grounds, a place with several pine trees clustered together between the river and mountain. There were usually voles and mice here, though voles were harder to catch if they jumped back into the river. She wondered if they would, considering it was already so cold in the water.
"Keep in mind that hunting and battle crouches are different." After noting that, she scented the air. It wasn't long before she scented two mice and a vole somewhere along the bank. She dropped into a stance, body and tail low to the ground. Her legs were close, but always close to herself.
Once the mouse was in sight, her muscles bunched up and she shot forward, catching it in seconds. She nipped it's neck in a swift manner, then sat it carefully in a small hole she'd dug up after catching it. She thanked CloudClan and gestured silently to her apprentice to do the same. If she could recognize the scent of mouse or vole, perhaps she could have a chance at catching one.

(Happy 2016 to you too)
Dreampaw nodded as Dappledleaf said hunting and battle crouches were different. She watched as Dappledleaf pounced on a mouse and quickly nipped it's neck. Then she watched Dappledleaf dug a hole to bury the mouse for later, and silently relilized it was her turn to try. She dropped into a crouch, mostly mimicing Dappledleaf decently, but with one side had more weight than the other on it.
Dreampaw tried scenting anything, but only scented Dappledleaf, and scents that were slightly different. She decided to go towards the stronger scent and silently crawled towards it. Quickly she saw it was a mouse, and went closer to the mouse. When she pounced at the mouse, it noticed her and she barely caught it's tail. Not risking the opportunity to get her first catch on her first hunting trip, she quickly bit it's neck. Picking it up, she took her catch to Dappledleaf.

Dappledleaf stayed to the side, watching Dreampaw intently as she dropped into a crouch. There wasn't much to critic, and she trusted her apprentice to adjust soon enough. The only problem was the balancing part though that was something you couldn't exactly explain without tripping over words.
Not too long after, Dreampaw brought back the mouse. It was good that the she-cat didn't make a messy catch. Of course, it wasn't uncommon, but it didn't always prove for a delightful meal. She smiled at the calico as she brought the mouse over and gestured for her to bury it with her mouse.
"If the river isn't frozen, would you like to try fishing?" It was their main source of food and the fish were always much healthier. She'd heard it was good for their coat, but never knew if it were true.

After Dreampaw buried her mouse, she said, "Sure." The river wasn't too far away, as she had caught the mouse by the stream. She had most likely scared away the other scent with a slightly clumsy catch, but she could still smell traces of it. Padding towards the river, she sat next to the bank and asked, "How do you catch fish?"

( rushed because i need sleep for exams. )
Her eyes sparkled for a breif moment, amusement twinkling in her dark eyes. "All right, let's begin then," she commented, flicking her tail absently. She padded over to the edge of the river, crouched down and waited patiently for a glint to show itself beneath the surface.
"First, make sure your shadow is hidden. If you want to fish in the shadows, where it's hidden normally, don't forget it is sometimes a bit harder to notice their scales glinting." She noticed a small flash and she made it so her apprentice could see her paw before it shot into the water; curved, sort of in the shape of a spoon, as if trying to scoop something up out of the water.
Her paw flashed, and she pulled the fish out with a swift motion then held it for a moment, her paw on it's side. "Killing it by slamming it against a rock is efficient, but if you don't like that, carefully nip the neck." She slammed it against the rock, hoping it didn't scare her apprentice. "Oh and never try to catch them with your claws. It makes for a super messy catch and a not to enjoyable meal."

(Understood. I sometimes make these replies before school, which can make for some pretty short posts.)
Over by the river, Dreampaw nodded at her mentor, bouncing a little at her slamming the kinda-cute fish against a rock. Dreampaw tapped the water with a paw, feeling strange at first. She wondered how some warriors can swim and not be bothered at all about it. Adding insult to injury, the river was as cold as Darkpool and to make matters worse, some of it was frozen over.
After tapping the water with her paw a few times, she put her paw in the water and let sit there to help her get used to the cold water. After she pulled her paw out of the water, she put her paw on the pebbles of the riverbank. It felt like it took a whole moon for a gleaming in the water to show up. She quickly and carefully put her paw into the water like a spoon, only for her exitement to turn into disapointment as a strange, sharp pebble came out of the water instead.
She gladly accepted the fact that she didn't get cut by the strange pebble. It seemed like another moon for another gleaming to show itself. She put her paw in the water the same like last time, and was overjoyed to find a fish and not a gleaming pebble in her now-faster-in-water paw. She slammed the fish against a rock, feeling exited as the fish turned limp. Huh, maybe, just maybe, she was a natural at fish hunting, maybe hunting in general.

(ok, i am SO sorry! it's understandable if you want another mentor, so if you do, that's fine. if you don't I'll keep mentoring dream. i've been super busy and i'm struggling to find time for all my apprentices... not only that but i have staff things to take care of too ^^
She nodded, smiling as the calico easily found herself with a fish, killing it quickly and efficiently. "Good job, Dreampaw!" she exclaimed. All apprentices had different abilities, it seemed. Otterpaw, her apprentice close to warriorship was a skilled fighter and Dreampaw was a skilled huntress. She wondered what Cheetpaw would be.
"You're a natural. I'm guessing it'll be fine to move onto something else?"

(It's ok, I understand that you are very busy, being a mentor, a person and staff. Sometimes mentors go inactive and it's kinda annoying, but staff are busy.)
Dreampaw purred in satisfaction as she looked at her prey. Great CloudClan, she would be getting praises for so many days. But some might believe Dappledleaf might have caught them the way they looked so skillfully caught. "Yes, we should probably move on, unless you want my paw to be as cold as ice." she said.

( Ok if you want another mentor that's totally understandable. Last year when I first joined I was super active, but now I'm getting kind of overwhelmed. I'm happy mentoring you, but if you are tired of waiting so long for responses just contact me about getting a new mentor!<3 )
She chuckled lightly at that. "All right!" she mewed, "smaller prey is pretty much cleared and out of the way..." She thought back to her encounter with the hawk (can't exactly throw her injuries in here cause that wouldn't make sense). Small birds would do, so she padded along the edge of the --
"Actually, would you like to review while we walk around IceClan?" she asked, feeling a bit worn down. "Also, if you want to review something we did today that's fine too. If you didn't understand something, I can explain it. Sound good?"

(Eh, it's ok.)
"Sure," Dreampaw said. She wondered if they could take a hike on a mountain or something, or if she should do the (insert prey animal here) dung was a tasty berry trick on a kit. But the queens would really disapprove of that, and Dappledleaf would probably make her pluck the ticks off the elders or change moss.
"Hey Dappledleaf, to you want to climb one of the mountains or something?" Dreampaw asked. And then she remembered all those squirrels near the TreeClan border. Wasn't there around 10 squirrels there or something?

She paused to think about it. She'd never taken her apprentices into the mountains, but she had for sure toughened up with her recent... not-so-great experiences. She doubted any predatory birds would be lurking though since she and the leader had not-so-successfully eliminated one. To be frank; it was bloody.
"All right, that sounds fine. Not for long, though, okay?" She leapt across the river, traveling on the large, flat stones situated in the middle of the river. She waited for Dreampaw and once they were at the base of the mountain, she started to scale it, weaving her way carefully around rocks and other sharp objects.
