Phantom padded, wide-eyed, through the junkyard. It had only been a few hours since he had escaped the fire that burned down his former home, and since then he had been forced to rest in various strange and scary places; all proving to be too open for the small tom to feel safe spending the night in. It was like his kithood all over again, except he didn't have his mother and father to protect him from the dangers of the streets; and the tender flesh of his back for leg, burned raw from the flames of the fire, made him much slower than someone of his youth should be. At least the cold helps the burns, he thought, glad when he dragged the wounded leg through a patch of snow, and it doesn't seem to be infected. Sighing, the albino slowed, spotting a tattered old mattress amongst the piles of junk. It wasn't any less safe than most of the other places he had turned down sleeping in, but at this point he was too tired to care. A wave of nostalgia washed over him for a moment as he remembered the mattress he used to share with the two-leg that looked after him, how it was always covered in warm blankets that smelt faintly of cinnamon. Thats gone now, Phantom thought, shaking away the memory and crawling over and onto the mattress, too tired to recognize the overpowering stench of rat that clung to the object. Phantom let himself fall down to the molding mattress and closed his red eyes blissfully, glad that his aching paws were getting some sort of rest. Suddenly the mattress beneath him shifted. Confused, he opened his eyes and looked around, startled as a large rat crawled out of one of the holes in the mattress. Yelping in surprise, he jumped back, only to hiss in pain when his wounded leg came into contact with the harsh ground. More rats crawled out of the mattress--too many for Phantom to take on by himself. "Help!" he mewed shrilly, continuing to back away as the rats inched closer and closer, baring their long yellow teeth. Their were about five, all about half the size of the tiny albino. "Please! Help!"

“ CHOKE SOFTLY FROM THE POETRY Macabre swayed his tail boredly as he padded through the junkyard, staring around in awe at the night sky. He knew that it was probably time for him to sleep, but even for a rogue like hi there was no chance that he was going to rest in such a dirty place like this; full of twoleg trash and disgusting vile creatures like rats and scrawny little pigeons. Ew. Pigeons.
Macabre's nonsensical thoughts were so suddenly interrupted by something that sounded like a cry for help, causing him to stop dead in his tracks. "Help! Please help!" rang through his ears and he rapidly raced towards where he thought the sound was emerging from.
"Hello?" He called out loudly, worried that someone was in danger and maybe even getting hurt. He stood for a few seconds, searching the area and then he saw the cat who had spoken. A small albino was about to get attacked by rats- probably infectious too.
Macabre growled angrily and bounded over to the scene, hissing loudly at the rats as he took one of the larger ones into his mouth and smashed it violently on the floor.
"Run!" He shouted towards the other cat, growling again as he launched himself at two more rats.

Phantom squealed as the rats approached, closing his eyes tightly and giving into the fact that he was probably going to be mauled to death by the critters until he heard someone approach. He watched as a black tom emerged and attacked one of the rats, glued to the spot. His skin became hot underneath his pelt and their was a moment where the albino felt he was too dizzy to stand. His mind barley registered the words of his savior, the sound of his own rapid heartbeat echoing so loudly in his ears it was hard to concentrate on anything else. He stumbled backward, slightly dazed and wanting to run but he wouldn't even know where he would be running to; if it wasn't rats it was dogs or monsters, even two-legs were dangerous these days. Phantom snapped out of his daze as another cat came to help, this one a tabby she-cat. He took deep breaths, trying to calm himself. There were too many rats, not enough for the two that had come to his rescue to take on their own. Don't just stand their, numbskull, he scolded himself, his deep breaths beginning to relax him, help them!. Determined, but still scared, Phantom raced forward [well, it was more like hobbling with his wounded leg], trying to remember the few things his parents had taught him about fighting before they two-legs had taken him to the cage-place. Hound and Blight were always better at this sort of thing, he thought to himself, wishing his siblings were their with him to help him fight, but it had been many many moons since he had seen either of them. "Aim for the neck," he muttered to himself, unsheathing his sharp claws and singling out the nearest rat. His throat ran dry for a moment, but he ignored it, and instead raked both his claws across the rat's face. It squealed and Phantom almost panicked, his ears flattening at the sound. Willing himself not to run, he stretched his claws out again, digging them more thoroughly into the rat's face and dragging it near so he could sink his teeth into it's neck until it stopped moving. His noise wrinkled as his forepaws and muzzle got drenched in rat blood, and he pulled back and look around; both to pinpoint which rat to attack next and how his saviors were doing.

“ CHOKE SOFTLY FROM THE POETRY Notes- If there's three of us, could we keep a posting order please?
Macabre smiled slightly when another feline came to help them attack the rats, however, it didn't last long as a rat came racing towards him, but he kicked it off with his claws and tried to leap on its back. He snapped his teeth into it's neck before hearing something crack and he dropped it to the floor. It wasn't dead yet, but the injury he had given it would have it die in a few seconds anyway.
He glanced back towards the she-cat to make sure that she was doing alright before back at the tom who had just half raced towards the rodents. Macabre flicked his ear and leaped over to him, throwing himself at the second closest beast as the albino had taken out the first.
The tom lashed his claws at the rats flank and neck deeply before grabbing it in his jaws and throwing squeezing blood out of it before throwing it's now limp body at another one of the rodents.
More notes- Am I being too graphic?

Raine was a housecat, or kittypet, the term used by those ridiculously religious clan cats. She belonged to a wealthy family ran by a well-known patriarch. Since her wonderful birth she was exposed to nothing but the best, all the finesse you would expect from such a distinguished bloodline. So, it did surprise her a little when she turned a corner and ran straight into a death match between some half-starved rodents and a couple of - rats. Ha.
Raine sat down, yawning softly and watched the struggle, noticing that the albino cat had blood on his fur from the rat bites. "You know, red really isn't your colour" she purred quietly, creeping ever-so-lightly to the group of cats to avoid the rat's attention. "Oh, but you know what? You'd look absolutely darling in scarlet.. I doubt those rats would be able to scratch deep enough, though."
She laughed and barreled towards Phantom aiming her sharp claws for his face.

Phantom watched the black tom and tabby skillfully take out a few rats, glad to see that the other two seemed to be void of injury, before turing back on his own attackers. The albino lunged forward, grabbing a rat in his jaws. It writhed and squealed, pulling the young tom's head down with the weight of it. Phantom hadn't realized that rats were so heavy. He tried to chomp down and make the beast go still, but the rat was already slipping from his grasp by the time he attempted this, and his attack proved futile. Panicking as he felt the snap of the rat's jaws nearly grazing him, he flung the creature away, watching as it knocked into another rat that had been charing towards him. The albino nearly gagged a the strong scent of rat blood remained in his mouth, spitting on the ground in front of him. More rats approached, and he staggered backward, wincing as he put pressure on the leg that had been burned in a fire earlier that day. I have to keep fighting, he thought, glancing over at the other two. He knew he wasn't the best fighter, but the least he could do for the cats that had chosen to help him was fight alongside them. The sound of another cat speaking distracted the young tom. Phantom turned his gaze to the newcomer, hope filling his gaze at the thought of another cat coming to help him, although for some reason a shiver ran along his spine at her words. He had to claw a few rats across the face while listening to her, head quirking at her words; not fully understanding them until the stranger came lunging for him. Phantom squealed, ducking down to avoid her claws but not moving fast enough; three claws raked through his right ear. The tom backed away quickly, shaking slightly in fear. He had never fought another cat before, save for the play fights he had done with his siblings as a child [and he never won any of those]. "Why?" he whimpered, cowering and looking at the she-cat in fear. His claws were unsheathed, mind racing. He would be able to defend himself if need be, but he didn't want to hurt another cat unless he had too. The cry from a nearby rat caught Phantom's attention, and his pinkish-red gaze flitted from his feline attacker to a rat that was charing him. Not waiting for another attack from the strange she-cat, he lunged for the rat, picking it up in his jaws and flung it at the she-cat who had sliced his ear [which was now weighed down with blood].
