It was cold enough for Cloverstar to see her breath coming out in visible puffs, enough to cloud the bitter air that was already stinging at her unfortunately short pelt. The snow had been sporadic this leafbare, falling in a near blizzard at some points and then melting away by the next day. But now it'd just gotten ridiculous.
Somehow, CloudClan knew why, all the snow that'd fallen the previous night had now built up a barrier in front of the camp entrance. It was thick, frozen over from sleet and laced with ice when she clawed into it. Even when right in front of it, she couldn't tell how big it was or how far it went around camp.
Great. Just great.
Cloverstar shivered, fluffing out her sleek fur. In the icy whites and grays of the weather, interspersed with browns from the soil, her emerald green eyes stood out particularly sharply and now surveyed every inch of the snow she could see. If only...
The sun wasn't even up yet, which explained why she was the only one out and awake and noticing this thing. This, obviously, meant she had to do something about it. Probably go around and scream into the warriors' and apprentices' dens to wake them up. But that didn't sound very appealing, and so she began to contemplate just how to get everyone up without them hating her first thing in the morning.

Sprucepaw stretched in the mornin. he looked around and stood leaving the den licking his mate between the ears as he did so. the minute he emerged he wished he hadn't. it was cold outside and snow was piled. it was gonna be a long day although he could still take dogpaw hunting. as he padded to the apprentices den he saw his leader cloverstar. "Mornin miss." he mewed dippin his head. "I was just takin dogpaw out... ohhh." he mewed seeing the camp entrance. "Its gonna be a long day." he mewed rolling his eyes. "Ill get to that in a second but first i must remember my manners. how are you this mornin?" he asked looking to his leader. he had to remember to try and not be really formal. leaders and deputies usually didn't like being talked to that way. he wasn't really worried about that however because he wasn't usually intimidated by his clan leaders. he chose to fear others if there was a need to and like others if he liked them.

It took a while of staring at the fallen in snow before she heard someone. Cloverstar gave a start before turning. It was one of the warriors, Spruceclaw. She breathed in relief.
"I'm alright, Spruceclaw," she replied. "I'd say good morning to you too, but..."
She turned back to the barrier with a skeptical eye. "...I'm afraid it won't be very good if we don't do something about that. We're going to need some more help on this if anyone wants to get out of camp."
Now her mind was running with worst-case scenarios, such as the snow staying there, a blizzard setting in, everyone trapped in camp with only a freshkill pile to depend on until it ran out. But she squashed them immediately, shaking her head to focus. Now was not the time to get into a panic, she told herself.

"Would you like me to gather some others. I know a couple cats who'd be eager to help and my apprentice is strong he'd be okay with helping ." he mewed looking to his leader. Thrn he looked at the piled snow and he wondered how on earth the clan would get that out of the way. "Its gonna be a long day." he mewed looking back to his leader awaiting her orders.

She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath and exhaling before opening them again. Her ears twitched as she heard Spruceclaw.
"Yes, please do that," Cloverstar replied curtly. She reached forward, starting to dig at the snow. Some of it crumbled, but enough. It'd take more than a bit of work, she thought grimly.

Spruceclaw nodded before padding off to the warriors den in search of help. he made his way in hoping he could get some strong cats to help. his mind immediately went to sandstone however she was in no condition to help. it seemed as though he'd have to ask his apprentice and his old mentor. picking up any other stragglers along the way.

Cloverstar watched Spruceclaw go, before turning back to the snow with a skeptical eye. How were they going to take it down, anyway? Was it too much to hope that the sun would come out and melt at least some of it soon?
One look at the sky told her enough. Even with the sun not even risen yet, it seemed doubtful there'd be more than a little weak sunlight in the next few hours. The clouds were thick and gray enough to be stormy.
She sighed and kept digging, clawing away as much as she could. It was thicker and frozen over, more solid the deeper she dug, and pieces kept sticking to her fur and claws.

"Good," Cloverstar noted distractedly, not taking her eyes away from the snow. If only there were more visible weak spots...
She kept pushing away, and more snow began to crumble and fall from the built-up, frozen-over barrier. "Just keep digging," she continued. "Look for some weak spots, there should be some..."
She pried at a particularly tough patch of ice, shattering it with a hard blow of her paw, before going back to work.

I followed Spruceclaw over to the barrier, where there was snow clumped inside the thickets and ice freezing some of the clumps together. I nodded in greeting to Cloverstar before following Cloverstar's instructions "Just keep digging. Look for some weak spots, there should be some..." I went over to a rather clumped patch of thickets and began to follow Cloverstar's example, digging at the snow, occasionally smashing pieces of ice, though I found no weak spots yet.

Spruceclaw nodded before he began to dig. he eventually realized that the thick layer of ice over the snow was making it much harder. so he went up on his hind legs and brought his front legs crashing down on the ice. he made sure to put all his weight into it. the impact made his teeth gring on each other however he continued to dig.
