Spruceclaw Brackensky yawned. For reasons unknown... She was tired, yet could no sleep. She frowned upwards, looking at the moon shining at the sky. She squinted at it. " The moon is too bright." She complained. " How can cats sleep with that thing...." She mumbled, it slipping her mind she had fallen asleep on countless nights with the moon shining. It was most likely lack of sleep hindering her logical thought process. Still, she was able to hear pawsteps behind her. She was laying down in the middle of camp, not feeling up to trying to sleep in the nursery at the moment. Smelled funny. " Eh...? Who the hell are you?"

Spruceclaw had padded into camp late. he was exhausted from a recent patrol. he was padding over to the fresh kill pile when he heard a questioning mew. he turned his head slightly abd squinted seeing a shape in the darkness. he quickly realized that's where the mew was coming from. "I'm spruceclaw." he mewed dipping his head in greeting although he doubted she could see him. "I don't know if you're aware or not but youre laying outside on a cold night like this." he mewed humor evident in his tone. it didn't matter how sleepy he was his could always make a joke out if something.

Brackensky stood up slowly, turning to face the warrior.
She squinted. "Eh... You're a plant?" She questioned. She huffed. "Yeah... Yeah I know... Sleep is avoiding me. I think it's allergic." She shook her head. She stared at him. "If sleep hates me then does it hate you too? Maybe we can kidnap it."

Spruceclaw gave a laugh. "Umm... no I'm not a plant." He mewed a little concerned for this cats well being. "I'm not so sure you could kidnap sleep." He mewed shuffling his paws. "It may help if you were in your nest." He mewed suggestivly.

Brackensky yawned again.
"E-Eh... I don't like the smell in the nursery.... Too many cats...." She mumbled. "Smells cleaner here..." She yawned. "Eh... I'm not making sense....I blame the moon...." She lay back down on the ground, on her side. "Eh. Still better than the nursery."

"I thought my apprentice had cleaned out the nursery recently... hmmm." He mewed grumbling about his apprentice. He turned back to her when he heard her comnent about the moon. "I guess the moon is a little bright." He mewed looking up at the big sphere. then an idea formed in his head. he padded in front of her and used his broad shoulders to try and block the moon light from the she-cats eyes. "Is that any better?" He asked looking down on her.

Brackensky closed her eyes.
"Little bit...." She mumbled. Then she didn't say anything for a while, seeming to relax a bit. "... The nursery smells too different from what I'm used to.... Too many cats around.... It's weird...." She murmured.

"You'll have to get used to it. won't you? After all you're a queen soon you'll be surrounded by little ones." He mewed. he still couldn't believe his apprentice hadn't cleaned out the nursery. he shook his head. he trusted dogpaw he knew his apprentice had completed his task maybe this queen hadn't been there.

Brackensky didn't say anything for a bit.
She opened her eyes again and turned her hazel gaze towards Spruceclaw. She stood back up on her paws and sat down. She stared down at her paws. ".... I spend almost all day in there... Still feels weird. Still need time." She looked to the stars. "Do I not get time? Is that part of being a clan cat? Being what I need to be immediately for so many other cats?"

"The clan survives off each other. you bring and raise the kits. they become apprentices and feed the clan. the warriors pass on their knowledge and defend the clan. "He mewed looking at her. "Its how we survive." He added

Brackensky didn't respond at first.
Despite joining the clans and certainly planning to stay... She still thought their ways were a little weird. She was born and raised as a loner. Perhaps one day her mindset would match Spruceclaw's... For now, the way Spruceclaw worded it sounded like they were barely cats. She sighed. "I'm just going to stay here for now..." She closed her eyes again.

"You'd probably be warmer in the nursery." he mewed looking at her. "At least let me get you something to eat." he pleaded looking at the fresh kill pile.

Brackensky didn't respond at first.
"I'll be alright." She replied to the thought made by Spruceclaw about the nursery being warmer. She gave a neutral shrug. "Sure...." She murmured in response to Spruceclaw's pleading concerning food.

Spruceclaw nodded before running to the fresh-kill pile. he returned with two shrews clamped in his jaws. "I'm sorry if you don't like shrew. its my favorite." he mewed dropping it in front of her. he sat down next to her and began to eat his shrew.

Brackensky wasn't particularly picky.
She accepted the shrew and began to bite into it leisurely. She didn't say anything. She didn't feel like there was anything to say, perfectly content with her shrew meat and the silence.
