despite being a highly energetic cat, rowansky was aware that a pawful of kits could be draining to look after. the orange-and-white female nosed the last back into the nursery with a purr after taking them out by the riverbank to play. she turned to find a quiet spot and spend a few moments by herself to regain some of her energy. "oh!" she yelped, salmon nose bumping lightly against a much bigger cat's shoulder. her heart beat rapidly as she got a lungful of a very familiar scent. ( Lostpath)

Lostpath had taken it upon himself to visit the nursery to see if his kittens were there, at least the ones that weren't apprentices, but he couldn't find them. Ah, well. Next time maybe, he thought as he turned around. Not that he didn't visit them enough—he did, as much as he could. He'd always wanted a family, and now he had one. Even if he couldn't have everything, at least he had that. He almost didn't notice her nose touch his shoulder, but the intoxicating scent of her filled his nose and her 'oh!' his ears. "Whoops," he said, taking a step back. He looked down at her, a flush heating his ears. No doubt it would be awkward, for him at least, after she had literally friend-zoned him. Maybe friends is a better route anyways. "Hi."

Really, Rowansky could admit that her heart easily got carried away when it came to romance. She was a romantic at heart, and her beliefs on love were ones you’d find in the dreamy thoughts of young apprentices. So, by now, the queen should have mastered the art of letting go and controlling her heart and who she gave it away to. Looking at Lostpath now, Rowansky couldn’t find a single regret in her head about giving her entire being to the tom, heart, soul, and everything else in between. And she didn’t ever want it back, even if the universe and her job description had her trying to do the opposite.
“Sorry! Must be getting blind, not seeing you and... well, you with your.. you-ness?” Rowansky felt like her tongue weighed like a boulder in her mouth, and she couldn’t do anything but laugh at her own nonsensical explanation. “Anywaaaay, why’d you swing by the nursery?” A part of her—no, all of her—wished it had something to do with either herself or her children with Lostpath.

Lospath tilted his head. "'You-ness'?" He asked curiosly, proud of himself that he'd been able to keep from stuttering. "N-no, it was,uh, my fault. And I'm already blind so, heh," he said awkwardly, giving her a small smile. "H-half blind, I mean." He wasn't the most graceful since his eyes had been blinded, so it was easy to pin the blame on him. He studied her face, wondering how in the world such perfection had been created. Sure, she had her flaws and imperfections, but they were all so... perfect. She was, by far, the prettiest girl he'd met, inside and out.
"Oh, yknow," he said awkwardly, not quite wanting to bring attention to the fact that they'd... well, had kits. "Visiting my—er, our k-kits," he told her truthfully, shrugging. "I-I couldn't find them, though. A-at least I, uh, ran—.. ran into you." The fact that he was so awkward around her made him mad, and he was trying his best to fix it. Chances were, it annoyed her as well. And he hated it.

Rowansky pouted and batted Lostpath's shoulder (it was the highest spot she could reach without having to stand on her toes). "I'm tired, and words aren't my friends right now," she whined. In hindsight, the patched ginger queen knew it probably was not a good idea to maintain such a close relationship with Lostpath if her plan on getting over him—yeah right—could ever work. But she was exhausted and lonesome, and she supposed it wouldn't be so bad to allow herself to love him for one more day.
She mentally berated herself for joking about blindness. It was easy to forget about Lostpath's disability, as she never really minded it in the first place and thought that he was still plenty capable even with damaged eyesight. "No, no! Okay, fine, we'll say we were both kinda out of it and leave it at that. Deal?" Rowansky smiled, curiosity pulling the next question out of her. "Why are you looking me like that.. like you just witnessed the greatest sunset ever?" Her green eyes flicked away, and she instantly regretted ever saying anything.
Any mention of her kits always jolted a spark of affection in her heart, and Rowansky fondly gazed back into the nursery. "They're probably tuckered out and sleeping, the little buggers," she laughed, "though I do appreciate you checking up on them. Not a lot do that." CloudClan, she wished those darned rules didn't exist, then she wouldn't have to say that because she knew Lostpath would be with them forever and never leave if he could.

(Rowansky rly rly late i'm sorry)
"Are you g-getting enough sleep?" Lostpath asked, face creased with worry. He was honestly worried for her well being, as he knew how hyper kittens could be. After a moment, he looked away, embarrassed. Hopefully she'd take it as him worried for the kits' sake, but he was sure she could see right through him. Clearly trying to get rid of his feelings for the queen hadn't even begun to work. At that moment he wished he had a friend that could help himself with such things. Rowan was a friend, as she'd made painfully clear, but he was certain that telling her about his feelings and asking for advice wouldn't help at all. He just wished his friends were still around. Like Ashpaw.
"Deal," he responded, giving her a small nod. His eyes widened, and he looked away, utterly and completely embarrassed. Idiot, idiot, idiot. "I… I um…" he racked his brain for a believable excuse, but none came to mind. It was like fishing in a pond that didn't even have water. There was, would never be, an excuse for how he had been staring at her. "It's… nothing. Don't w-worry about it." He gave her a small, awkward chuckle, pelt on fire.
His shoulders slumped slightly, disappointment clear on his face. He hardly got to see his kittens anymore, and he wanted them to have a father in their life. He made a mental note to come back earlier in the day next time. He watched the nursery silently for a moment, before looking back at Rowansky. He opened his mouth, then closed it again, picking his words carefully. "I never though th-that I w-would be a father… especially not with er- with a… friend."
