this is the thread that Dove (potentially) takes leadership of Deathclan. feel free to interact with her in this thread!(: Drought was gone for long enough, and she was tired of moping around. Today things would change for her. Today, she would alter Deathclan; something that she wanted to do for a while, but never did. Maybe it was because she was always preoccupied with other things. But now? Deathclan was her home since her youngling days, and it will always be. Why not have someone as experienced as her to lead the once great clan?
She trekked from her den, a dying tree, to the main clearing. Ugh. When was the last time a meeting took place here? Probably a while ago too. As she approached the rocks, a breeze blew passed, and the silver tabby sighed. It was now, or never. Taking a large leap onto the rocks, she took two more - not as large as Drought's and looked down below. 'So this is what his view was like up here.' Interesting.
"Deathclan! Gather now for I have news to tell!" Though her call was loud, she did not know if anyone would even show. The majority of the cats who remained after the anarchists were younglings after all. Did they even survive the season?
"Our old leader Drought has been dead for many moons," she started. "And I, Dove, and am here to take his place!"

Leopard growled under her breath "What gives you the right to claim it" The Toretoiseshell Deathclan she-cat spat lashing her tail "Sorry but I'd appreciate that you would prove yourself Deathclan deserves a leader that will lead us to power" She meowed "Do you think you are that leader" The Toretoiseshell looked up at Dove Who agrees that she needs to prove herself" Leopard yowled

Arid sat at the edge of the clearing, golden gaze intently watching Dove. He too was interested in taking leadership of DeathClan, although it wasn't to important to him when this leadership was received; which he was sure it would be, after all no one had been able to deny him something he desired before. He watched as one of the younger cats spoke out against Dove's claim to leadership, spotted tail twitching curiously. He waited till she had finished before moving his large frame from the shadows and closer to the main part of the clearing. "From what I have heard Dove has been in DeathClan much longer than most, I believe that gives her claim to leadership some credibility," he mewed, his voice smooth and sure, "still, a display of power should be shown," Arid's gaze traveled up to the she-cat, more intrigued than challenging. If she was going to be his new leader he might as well get on her good side, "after all, how do we know for sure that your fit to lead us?"

Once cats starting to fill the main clearing, the tabby relaxed a bit. So she was able to be heard and responded to. How small they looked from where she stood. There was an angry tortoiseshell she-cat, and Dove gave her a calm look. She was ready for this. But then another tom showed up making another statement, calming her down a bit, though she still felt the tension between the group.
'What gives you the right to claim it?' 'From what I have heard Dove has been in Deathclan much longer than most, I believe that gives her claim to leadership some credibility, still, a display of power should be shown.'
And then they wanted her to prove her worth to them. As a leader that will lead them to power. "How would I know that you are fit to run a lot like you? I wouldn't." She then climbed down the rocks, approaching Leopard and Arid. "As a former member of Deathclan's Royal rank, I see myself resourceful in this promotion of mine. Who else is going to stand up and make sure that we are thriving once more again?"
She then faced the group of cats. "Deathclan is known to be a group of cats with a thirst of violence and such, but is that really all we are known for? We're a band of rogues. Sure, trust is not something the majority of you hold, but we are all here for a reason. I am not here to be a cat like Drought, but rather a representation of us in general."
Turning back to Leopard, the she-cat smiled. "We all have strengths, and if we all put them together, we'd be one heck of a mighty clan once more. So yes, I do believe that I am that type of leader."
'Please don't tell me that there will have to be a battle. These younglings are only going to leave themselves battered and scarred. They deserve to have Deathclan as a place for them to grow up and thrive, rather than having to always want to slit someone's throat.' A shame it was, seeing the youth of the generation raised to be monsters. They were just supposed to be a band of rogues, after all.

Ever since Drought's death, Artemis had found herself in a strange state of what felt like stasis. She couldn't help but think it seemed odd how...quiet DeathClan had become since Drought had been overthrown and killed. She would have expected chaos and bloodshed to ensue, with cats fighting to claim power now that the king was out of the way and Badger interfering somehow. But it looked like DeathClan was going out with a whisper, and no one appeared to care to be around to see it.
For her part, Artemis had never had an interest in claiming power. She had always preferred to be in the backseat, supporting and obeying but never scheming. Power was a fragile thing to be handled, and she had no interest in risking what could happen if she took it herself. No, it was easier to be on the side rather in the light. And her own grief from Drought's death had been enough to cope with.
So when she heard a cry from the clearing, for DeathClan to gather, her curiosity was certainly piqued. Who could it be? What did they want, now? It definitely wasn't Badger. She'd crept out of her den and made her way to the clearing to find...well, she wasn't too surprised. It was Dove, a former royal DeathClanner, speaking to several below the rocks. She didn't know Dove very well, but she'd seen her around.
"This is certainly new," Artemis commented dryly. "I suppose you will be leader now, Dove, if your claim is not contested or if Badger does not try to interfere?"

Arid's ear twitched in an intrigued manner as he listened to Dove speak. She'll make a good leader, a voice in the back of his mind thought, now assessing the she-cat more carefully, how boring. Still, now didn't seem like a good time to be arguing with the she-cat; especially since the other cats in the clearing were starting to get on her side. "Wise words," Arid mewed, dipping his head in a show of respect for the cat who he assumed would now be his new leader, unless someone else came to intervene with her claim to leadership, "but do you plan on leading DeathClan on your own? DeathClan used to have a system of Peasants and Royals, if my memory serves me correctly. From what you said you were a Royal yourself, were you not? Do you plan on reviving this system, or perhaps setting up one of your own?" the tom tipped his head curiously as he spoke. That system had been one of the more attractive things he had heard about DeathClan before he had joined, and the tom had found it rather disheartening to find out that it had fallen apart after Drought's rein collapsed.

There was a familiar face in the crowd - Artemis. She did not see the she-cat in many moons, but she was glad that the older cat was still alive. Who else of the past were still lingering around? She did not know. There was the question of Badger, who used to be a former Elite, close to Drought. A chill crept down her spine, knowing that she feared the large brown tabby, but she could not let Artemis know that.
"Badger is a stranger to us now. We do not know of his whereabouts, or his scheming. He murdered our former king, but a new leader calls for a new start." She sat down. "He can come back to us if he wishes, but if he were to come back to cause havoc between us Deathclanners, then he has not learned to let go."
And then to Arid's question, though she still did not know the stranger's name. "I used to myself, be both a peasant, and a royal at times, but I think that system is not needed; at least, not for now. All cats are welcome to discuss with me, for I fear a cat knowing too much about others to only cause the damage that Badger and his followers have before. I'm open for whatever ideas, but for now, I wish for Deathclan to thrive in numbers once more, so I will be travelling around for a while trying to recruit once more."
She then took a deep breath. That was the most the quiet tabby has ever said at a time before.
