Birchkit trotted into the nursery, her pelt speckled with snow and still damp from playing all morning in the fluffy flakes. I love being outside but it's so cold, she thought, shaking out her pelt at the entrance of the den so she wouldn't flick snow on anyone. Although the snow was now gone from her pelt she was still cold and a shiver ran along her spine. Maybe playing a game would warm me up, she thought, looking around at the other kittens in the nursery. A frown formed on her face when she realized none of her usual friends seemed to be around. She did, however, notice another kitten whom she hadn't met before. Grinning, Birchkit bounced over to her, "hello," she mewed brightly, "I'm Birchkit~!"

Lonekit stretched her jaws open in a big yawn. she stood up and stretched, immediately feeling the chill. she shivered before fluffing out her fur. ha. cold:0 Lonekit:1. The grey and white birman peered around the den. it was awfully quiet, most of the kits were probably outside playing in the fresh snow. Not her, it was cold and wet out there and her pelt didn't dry quickly. Lonekit watched a tabby she-kit come inside the den. Lonekit raised her tail in greetings and smiled in a friendly way.

Birchkit grinned merrily as the other she-kit smiled. As she got closer she began to recognize her slightly, seeing as the tabby had tried her best to know all the kittens in the nursery; after all one day they would be her fellow warriors. If Birchkit's memory served her right the kitten she had approached was named Lonekit, who was one of Sandleaf's kits and who also happened to be unable to speak. "Your Lonekit, right?" the tabby-and-white kitten asked, tipping her head curiously to the side. She was fairly sure she was right, but still wanted to make completely sure.

Lonekit smiled widely and she nodded vigorously. she was very, very happy that someone knew her name without her having to direct them to sandleaf. She smiled graciously at brichkit, motioning to the other kit with her tail. Lonekit wanted to know her name, she wanted to know the kit who had been kind enough to find out a bit about her before she approached her. Lonekit signed with her paws a circl and pointed at the sun, trying to ask how old Birchkit was.

Birchkit's ears perked up when the other she-kit proved her suspicions to be correct. The tabby-and-white she-kit watched her new companion curiously, having to take a few moments before she figured out what the other cat was trying to say. "My name? It's Birchkit! Pleased to make your acquaintance," she mewed with cheerful giggle, finding her own formal words rather funny. The signing was a bit harder for Birchkit to understand, and it took her a little longer to figure it out. "My... age? Is that what you mean? I believe I'm... three moons old now? Yeah, or, well, at least I'm about to be. I haven't really been keeping track," the kitten chuckled nervously at her own ignorance.

Lonekit purred in delight. Birchkit was really good at reading into what she had to say. It took the other kit less time than it took anyone else to figure out what she was trying to say. She was very pleased to meet birchkit as well, she laughed silently along with her friend. At least she hoped they were friends. Lonekit was even more surprised when birchkit figured out she was asking her age. She was so pleased she sprang to her paws, her tail flicking happily. Lonekit felt embarrassed at her sudden outburst and she sat back down, looking at her paws in embarrassment.

Birchkit grinned when the other kitten sprang to her paws, not knowing what exactly she had done that had pleased the she-kit so much--although she assumed it was the fact that she had interpreted her question correctly--but being glad none the less. The tabby let out a light, bubbly laugh at her friends excitement, although she was slightly confused when she sat back down. Birchkit tipped her head to the side for a moment, trying to think of a way to rekindle the moment of excitement. "Hey," she mewed suddenly, a sheepish smile slipping onto her features, "do you wanna play a game together?"
