Dappled M[o]ss

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplepaw padded into the den, her ears flicking with amusement at her fellow new apprentices. She didn't feel like talking to them, but her heart was pounding with excitement. She could do something useful for the clan now! And the other apprentices wouldn't be as stupid by doing useless things! Dapplepaw wanted to sit by the entrance, unlike her friends wanted to. She found an empty nest- Dewmask's old nest?- and curled up, tail twitching slightly.

[Embersong]

Emberpaw found her nest and looked around the den for her friends. She easily found Dapplepaw, her old friend from the nursery. She looked eager to meet new cats, and not cats she already knew from kithood. But Dapplepaw was like a best friend, so Emberpaw decided it would be okay to go say hi. Hopefully the cat didn't get snappy, but Emberpaw herself had already met knew cats. She padded over and sat down next to Dapple, staring out at the camp and not saying anything, waiting for Dapplepaw to acknowledge her. She wanted to see if she belonged there or not.

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplepaw twitched her ears, and it was clear she was about to crankily ask someone what they were doing just approaching her and not making a sound otherwise, but then she saw Emberpaw's cream fur, and her mood lightened. "Hey, Emberpaw." She mewed, shifting her stance slightly to face the other apprentice. "What'cha doing there? Weren't you hanging out with some other apprentices?"

[Embersong]

Emberpaw noticed Dapplepaw shift her weight, and she looked over at the other aoprentice. "Yea," she said, swirling a paw in the dust beneath her paw, "but I got kinda bored. All we were doing was picking our nests, not talking much. Anyway, you seemed lonely." she added with a smile. "Whatcha up to?"

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplepaw nodded, slowly. "I was sort of waiting for someone to greet me, but I guess I didn't make the greatest impression as a kit." The calico huffed, "Though, sometimes I found others annoying and..." Dapplepaw blinked, before shaking her head. "But I have you, so it's alright. I might want to think about tommorow morning's training? We're apprentices now!" Dapplepaw's green eyes shined with admiration and glee, and it was clear that Dapplepaw really enjoyed being an apprentice to being a kit.

[Embersong]

Emberpaw smiled with joy. "Yea. Apprentices, finally!" she joked. She had been watching the apprentices go about the day when she was a kit. She always admired them, but then she admired everyone older than her. She just couldn't wait to see what life was like as a warrior. "Who's your mentor?" Emberpaw asked Dapplepaw. She felt like she had asked this question over and over to all her friends. "Mine's Panthershade, but he hasn't taken me through anything yet." She soghed somewhat loudly, wanting to start training. Everyone else said ir was a lot of fun.

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplepaw hummed, "Swiftstrike. Huge white tom with black patches on his body, jokes around a bit, from what I could see." The calico smiled, laying her head down again. "Our training starts tommorow... at least, mine is." She flicked her ear, and closed her eyes, trying to focus on her breathing. "I'm just... excited to be doing something. Even if its learning, at least that's something the clan can benefit from."

Emberpaw smiled. She was glad her friend had a fun mentor. She almost knew nothing of her own. "I hope he makes some jokes, then you can tell them to me." she smiled. "I don't know much about my mentor, just that he's mostly black, and his name is Panthershade." Emberpaw looked out the entrance into the clearing, hoping to spot him. But to her disappointment and predicament, he wasn't there.

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplepaw nodded, letting her eyes close fully. "I hope i have a good first training day tommorow," She mewed, curling up slightly tighter. "...Who are you going to sleep next to, Emberpaw?" She mewed, curious about the other cream she-kit.

The cream kit moved over closer to Dapple's nest and sat down again. "I dunno," she mewed, inspecting the den. Lizardpaw, Willowpaw, and Lostpaw all wanted her to sleep in the back with them, but it also sounded like Dapplepaw wanted her to sleep in the front. "All my friend's want me to sleep next to them. Are you going to sleep in the front or the back?"

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplepaw hummed, "front. I get to my training quicker!" The calico laughed slightly, before closing her eyes again and twitching her ears "You can sit near the back. I don't mind being alone."

[Embersong]

"I personally think it's a little cold up here," she shivered, sighing, "But I dont want to leave you all by yourself." Choices, choices. Emberpaw wished that all her friends could all stay close to her.

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplepaw sighed, "I'll be fine, Ember." There was a slight irritated edge to her voice, "I've never gotten along with others that well. Remember my temper?" The calico snorted, "Trust me. This apprentice will just have to introduce herself."

[Embersong]

"You weren't as bad as you think you were." Emberpaw mewed. "Sometimes it seemed like you tried to be snappy, then other times you were the best friend a kit could have. Remember when I knocked my shoulder out of socket? Remember when we found that scary thing in that bush? I can sleep here for tonight, then go sleep with my other friends, then come back. I don't mind moving around."

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplepaw narrowed her eyes, opening them again. "Trust me. Ember, I can meet other apprentices on my own." The calico twitched her tail and put her paws over each other, flicking her ears. "Alright... I guess that'll be fine..." She closed her eyes, and tried to breathe steady again. "...thanks."
