Snowflakes fell around the white-and-black tabby tom, on his pale lashes and on his nose, inaudibly falling to the ground. The sun had long set, and the moon long risen, a sliver of a perfect, white jewel in a velvety, black sky. Stars glittered, gazing down at Brokenkit with their cold beauty, like they knew something he didn't. Something amazing.
The snowflakes melted against his warm skin, collecting in droplets of icy liquid, forming stiff spikes in his long, ivory fur. Shivers raced down Brokenkit's spine. But he didn't want to go back inside just yet. It wasn't even moonhigh yet. As the last of the snowflakes fell, dancing around him, silently and serenely, he sneezed. Loudly. Hopefully his mother hadn't heard. He cringed at the thought of another lecture.

Meltingstone walked out of the Warriors' den, spotting a kit freezing outside the den. Although, he was perfectly okay with this, from what she could see. Her good ear caught the kit's sneeze, and she walked over, her tail dragging on the floor, carring dirt and snow with her.
She looked down at the kit. "Hello there," her soft and deep voice mewed. "Does the cold not bother you?" She, herself had the weird, uncanny ability to only feel numbness with the cold, maybe it was her fluffy, thick white fur that sheild her from snow, as well as blends her in with it.
She turned her icy blue eyes back to the kit. "What is your name? You should be inside. You don't want to catch a cold," her already soft voice turning a bit motherly.

Brokenkit glanced up at the white she-ca, blinking bright green-gold eyes up at her. "Nope!" he lied, a hint of defiance creeping into his tone. He blinked almost apologetically at the warrior - Brokenkit was generally quite obedient but sometimes the queens' instructions just didn't make any sense. They just wanted to ruin his fun!
"My name is Brokenkit." the kitten told her with a flick of his plumy tail, grinning crookedly up at her. The black tabby stripes that marked his snowy pelt were broken in places, interrupted with more white, hence his name. "Er... No thanks. I like it out here. I love snow!"
His attention was drawn to a large pile of snow so perfect that he could hardly bear to touch it. Nonetheless, he ran straight into it, shivering as the cold ran up his limbs. He sneezed again, louder. Then two more explosive sneezes. He blinked innocently up at Meltingstone as if he had never done such a thing.

She blinked before nudging the kit onto a patch of ground where the snow had started to melt with her paw. "Well, Brokenkit, my name is Meltingstone, and as much as you love the cold, I wouldn't want your mother- whoever she is- to get mad with you because you're sick," she insisted, looking down at the small kit. "Y'know, warriors can't be going around catching colds, so you don't wanna start now."
