Fernkit couldn't believe it. Today was different from the past several days. She didn't feel chilled down to her core. She wasn't shivering, or hiding in the warmest spots of the Nursery. She was...warm. The sun was out, shining brightly. The dusty little she-cat let out a purr of delight as she stepped out of the Nursery's exit, standing just beside it. The only way this could be better is if she had something to do or someone to chat with while she enjoyed the warm rays of light.

Sunkit woke for the first time without a shiver and complain titmice mew. His mind relayed back the Brackensky's telling of warmth, and he thought of how he was now. Not hiding or shivering, or cursing the snow. Instead he was stretching out on his back as the sun warmed his pale golden belly. As another kit padded past him, his eyes fluttered open and he glanced around, intruiged. He spotted a dusty she-kit standing by the entrance, soaking up the warm Ray's. "So that's the sun?" He wondered aloud as he spotted a glowing orb hanging loosely in place in the clear blue sky. His ears twitched before perking up as she padded over to the other kit. "Hi! It's Fernkit right? I'm Sunkit!" he purred in greeting, bowing his head slightly.

(Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy all week D:)
Fernkit loved the way the sun felt on her face. Why couldn't it always be this way? As she enjoyed the warming rays, a cat from behind spoke to her. She smiled as she turned to face him. Sunkit was an older cat, maybe even apprentice aged. He had golden fur, similar in color to the sun they were both enjoying so much, and was just big enough that she had to look up a bit at him. He was not hard on the eyes.
The fact that he knew her name was nice. So many kits seemed oblivious of their den-mates, even though there were so few of them. She purred and nodded. "Fernkit, yep. Nice to meet you, Sunkit. Glad to finally see your namesake?" She asked with a tint of humor on her tongue. She found it amusing that this tom had been named after something that he likely couldn't have enjoyed that much recently. Perhaps his mother had desperately wanted the sun to come out, and so named her golden kit after it as a prayer.

The young tom purred, glad he'd gotten her name right. He didn't like the idea of calling one by the wrong name, and so he made it a point for home to learn almost everyone's. Or every name he could remember, that was. Twitching his ears, he released an amused purr and nodded, allowing the warm Ray's to soak into his matching coat. "Sure am" he purred happily, before executing himself briefly and ducking away. He hunted round for a bit until he found a young fern someone had pointed out to him before. Plucking it gently, he bounded back and placed it at the she-kit's paws. "Here ya go. This is yours." he mused, nudging it closer to her. He offered her an almost charming grin. "Wanna do something now that it's sunny out?" he asked enthusiastically, twitching his tail happily.

(This is like the cutest thing I've done on VWW since 2010 oh my god)
Fernkit watched in wonder as the older tom rushed off to find something. When he came back with a lovely fern, which he nudged at her own paws, she felt her stomach tingle as if butterflies were within it. She smiled at him and brushed the fern gently with her paw as she looked at it. "Oh, well thank you." She purred, looking back up at him. "I'll tuck it next to my nest so that I do not lose it." She said, getting to her paws and grabbing the fern gently with her teeth.
As she placed it beside her nest a question popped into her mind. "So, who's your mother?" She asked quietly, stuffing the stem of the fern into a denser part of her nest so that she could see it when laying down.

(Hehe, aww...) The little Tom grinned at her thanks before smirking amusedly as she ran her paw over it before grasping it gently and tucking it beside her nest. It was a rather strange thing to do. But then again, was it not strange to run off and get some random she-kit a fern just because it was her own namesake. Remembering his via the caressing warmth on his back, he gestured toward it with his tail, accompanied by another amused smirk. "It's the best I can do. I can't quite reach mine as it is." he purred slightly before his ears twitched at her question. Raising one paw, he pointed toward his nest with his mother and siblings. "Sandstone" he told her easily, pricking his ears in curiosity. "And yours?"

(so i thought i had replied days ago but apparently not oops. also im exhausted so this is gonna be really lazy)
Fernpaw made a 'not bad' face in cat form and nodded. "I've heard of her...And that makes your dad...Who? I swear I've heard who he is, but I can' seem to recall." She said cheerfully, padding back over to him. "Oh, and my mother is Brackensky. She has so many kits I doubt she sees me as often as Sandstone sees you, sadly." She said, although her tone didn't quite match her words. She wished her mother would speak to her more, but understood her busy nature.

Sunkit smirked slightly at her face before rolling his eyes as he spoke. Surely father's weren't that hard to remember. However, he still offered her a soothing smile like grin. "Spruceclaw. But he's always busy with his warrior duties." he shrugged at this. He could catch his father by time if he really wanted to. Same with his mother and siblings. He just preferred to talk to others. Expand his horizons, per say. As Fernkit spoke again about not seeing her mother much due to a mass amount of siblings, the young tabby cast her a sympathetic glance. "I met your mother once. It was before the end of leafbare, I'd never seen the sun before, nor felt its warmth like today. So she told me about it. She's quite nice, you know." he purred at this, hoping he could get his friend into a better frame of mind by saying random stuff and smiling at her. "Wanna do something?"

(Sorry for the SUPER late reply D:)
Fernkit welcomed Sunkit's uplifting words. She felt a little bad for making the scene so gloomy, but didn't bother making it worse by blabbing on about her lack of daughter-mother time. Sunkit's offer to do something sounded nice, too, and definitely better than talking about their families. She smiled and perked her ears. "That'd be nice. Do you want to play a game, or go around the camp?" She asked gently, looking behind Sunkit into the seemingly unknown world that was the camp. She had been a few places, but wasn't so sure about the older tom. Maybe he had, too, and would prefer to play a game or something.

Sunkit was glad she took so easily to his change of subject, and the little tom's tail waved somewhat excitedly as he nodded in response. "I'm up for a game" he responded, ears tilting toward the female with a grin. "Unless you want to explore, then that's fine too" herd seen almost every aspect of camp by now, but he'd do what Fernkit wished, as he wasn't really against either suggestion. He'd still rather explore the territory though.
(Short. And no prob, I died over the weekend anyway.)
