(Crowkit only please)
Redpaw watched the camp in silence, siting atop a rock. He had been assigned to help watch over the camp for the first part of the night. It was unusual to have apprentices do so, but since the Clan was so lacking in warriors to help work at the moment it had come to it. It wasn't too late, in fact much of the Clan was still eating dinner, sharing tongues. The last patrol of the day had just gone on the last border patrol.
As he watched he noticed a kitten, staring at him from afar. Redpaw hadn't talked to any kits in a while, and so he leaped down from his perch and padded over to the younger tom. "You've been staring at me for a couple of moments now. Are you alright?" He asked with a tinge of concern as he reached the tom.

Crowkit had always loved stories and legends. Recounts of famous warriors who would fight off badgers and survive fires. Ancient Leaders who stood tall and proud over their Clans, protecting them from the evils within the lands. The fact that he had to wait to be six moons old to be an apprentice crushed him, especially when he saw cats like Redpaw guarding over the Clan like mini warriors.
He hadn't meant to stare, in truth. He just couldn't help but watch older cats do good things. Guard the Clan in determined silence, practice their fighting skills, or even practice their newly found hunting abilities on butterflies or even the occasional robin within the confines of the camp. When Redpaw began to pad over to him, Crowkit felt his face get hot with embarrassment. He smiled nervously as the older tom spoke to him. "Oh, no, I'm...fine....Just, watching to see what kind of work I'll be in for when I'm your age, I suppose." He said quietly, looking at his paws.

Redpaw's vision was bad, but he could see how nervous Crowkit was just as well. He sat down beside the dotted tom and smiled. "Well, my hope is that when you're my age you don't actually have to stay up half the night to look over the Clan. AS good as it is to keep us safe, it is definitely exhausting. It also means I sleep in, which makes me miss patrols and training in the morning. Hopefully there will be more warriors before you're a 'paw." He said quietly, looking around the camp. Nobody had said he couldn't socialize and watch ove the camp simultaneously.

Crowkit listened to Redpaw in silence, still looking away from him. He was still pretty sure he wouldn't mind guarding the camp, be it for half the night or for the entire night, but he could understand not wanting to miss training and patrols. Those sounded way more fun. Crowkit finally looked back at Redpaw, who was watching over the camp like a hawk. "So, what's your name? I could at least know the name of the cat I was staring at, I guess. Which means you should know the name of your...stalker..Which is Crowkit." He murmured, feeling dumb again.

Redpaw smiled back at Crowkit, looking at him for a moment with an amused face before turning his attention back to the rest of the Clan. "My name is Redpaw. Nice to meet you, Crowkit. Tell me, who would you like as a mentor? Even I'm not sure who I want, but kits like you seem to always know." He asked, sad to remember that his own mentor, Danwbriar, had vanished recently. He had yet to get a replacement mentor, so his training was, for the time being, on hold.

Redpaw. A fitting name, considering the tom's pelt. Crowkit wasn't really sure why he had his own name. He didn't look much like a crow. The question he asked was a bit off-putting. He had never actually thought much about it. "Oh, I'm not totally sure. I'd of course love for Robinstar or Sunfish to train me, but what kind of kit doesn't want that? I just want someone noble to train me. Someone who isn't afraid to teach me how to both hunt and fight, and isn't lazy." He said quietly, hoping he didn't sound dumb.

Redpaw nodded along as Crowkit spoke. He, too, had once wanted the Leader of Iceclan to train him. Of course, that hadn't gone through. He had even kind of liked his mentor, before she vanished of course. He smiled as Crowkit mentioned just wanting to learn both fighting and hunting. Redpaw liked that, since too many cats nowadays were either too pacifistic or itching for a fight too often. The purpose of learning to fight was to defend the Clan, not go out and start wars. Hunting was also an important trait, but not the ONLY thing that needed to be taught.
"Well, there are some good warriors in this Clan, like Ravenfeather or Tigerblaze." He said, giving a bit of a shrug. "I don't think you'll be disappointed with who you get, but you may not how much some of these warriors tend to stick around.." He said, trying not to sound too annoyed or upset.

Crowkit had never met Ravenfeather OR Tigerblaze, but both of those sounded like good cats. Their names were also quite nice. It was Redpaw's second part that concerned him. "What do you mean, stick around?" He asked innocently. Did warriors...die a lot now?

Redpaw sighed and looked at Crowkit. "Things have been...not good, lately. Over all the seasons lots of warriors tend to fall back on work, or leave the Clan. Maybe its because of how harsh this Leaf Bare has been, but a lot of warriors are just...gone. No trace left behind. One of them, Dawnbriar, was my own mentor..." He said sadly, shaking his head.

Crowkit frowned, and brushed his tail against Redpaw's flank to make him feel better. "I'm sorry to hear your mentor left....Has Robinstar given you a new one yet?" He hadn't heard about a new mentor ceremony or pair at all recently, so if Redpaw had gotten a replacement it must have been a while back.

Redpaw let out a scoff and shook his head. "With so few warriors, my training has been postponed. Dawnbriar has been gone for a little while, and I'm still mentorless. Whatever, I'm not the only one so I can't complain too much." He whispered.

Crowkit felt bad for Redpaw. How could he not have a mentor? Crowkit looked around the camp in silence for a moment. "What do you want to be named?" He finally asked, quietly.
