A SPARK MEETS A SWEET
Sparkkit was doing nothing at the moment, and it felt strange to him. He felt bored, which was a feeling that he rarely encountered. The wind swirled around him, making his short fur stir. A leaf drifted from a tree overhead, and he watched it fall; fall very slowly. All Sparkkit ever learned in the short time he had been alive was, be fast, be stealth, and be careful. He shook his head. He loved being fast, but once in a while, sitting in one place was okay, too. He watched the cats around him live their lives, walk to places, sit in one stop, talking to each other. It all seemed to move in slow motion. Spark sat up, getting onto his feet. He couldn't walk, he didn't walk. Trotting to the nursery, he muttered to himself. He squeezed through a vine in the wall and went to a corner, still muttering. He lay down, facing the wall, putting his head on his paws. "Slow, slow," he murmured. "I can't go slow, what's wrong with me?" Sparkkit closed his eyes. He needed to figure out why he always wanted to be fast, and never, once, be anything close to slow.

Sweetkit had been in her nest the whole time curling her tail and scanning the nursery. She fixed her eyes onto a Tom kit that was near. "Are you alright there?"

Sparkkit's head whipped up as he heard the voice of another kit. He looked behind him and noticed a tortoiseshell she-cat, sitting in her nest, watching him. "Uh, yeah," he said, getting up quickly and swishing his tail back and forth.

Sparkkit sat up a little straighter and stopped swishing his tail. "I'm Sparkkit, I don't think I've ever seen you before," he said, looking at the tortoiseshell kit. She seemed pretty nice.
