(For @nightcore.)
It was clear and crisp when Cloverstar headed out, weaving in and out between the rocks as she traversed the slope downwards. She glanced back for Shadepaw before gazing out at the cliffs below and the rushing river.
Down here was a spot fitted near several boulders, covered in hard-packed soil still laced with frost and shoots of dull green. It was wide enough for training, as she had used it before with Crevicelight and other past apprentices.
The slim she-cat paused to tramp down some of the dirt, kicking away some loose stones as she waited for Shadepaw. Today would be their first training session.

Well, first day of training. Shadepaw was excited to begin training, like the average apprentice. He trailed behind Cloverstar and glanced around at the territory, trying to take in the scents. Shadepaw stared at the training area near the boulders and grinned.
The tom sat down on the dirt ground, wrapping his tail around his paws. "So what are we learning today?" He asked.

Cloverstar straightened up, tail flicking. "Today, we'll start off with hunting," she replied. "Basics first--the hunter's crouch and then some. Just copy what I'm doing and pay attention, you'll need it for your assessment."
She paused before continuing. "The hunter's crouch requires a lot more than it looks like it does," she went on. To demonstrate, she bunched up her muscles as she sank slowly to the ground, her tail level and her belly barely touching the dirt. Her shoulders and legs were stiff, her paws lined up against the ground.
"Just keep your stomach touching the ground a little, and your tail out for balance," she instructed. "Keep your eyes ahead, your head a little up but not touching the ground. Remember, you have to be quiet enough for all this so the prey doesn't notice."
