I padded away from IceClan's camp, shivering. I hated the snow. I thought it was bad in TreeClan. It was even worse here. I lowered my head, trying to avoid the wind. In TreeClan we'd have warm weather. Why was it still snowing here? Maybe Robinstar should have taken me back to TreeClan. But could I have done that?

Robinstar walked through IceClan territory, mulling over some things in his head. He hadn't seen Spidermask in a long time and he missed her, but at the same time he had begun to feel something for his best friend. Was that bad? He certainly felt guilty. It would be all around better if he didn't have a mate ever—not that he had one now, though she was more like his partner. He noticed a small, shivering shape and recognized her as Lionstrike. "Lionstrike?" He called, padding towards her.

I was approaching the river between TreeClan and IceClan, sniffing at the thin ice. I leaped in the air when he called my name. With my heart pounding in my ears, I looked over to spot Robinstar. I let out a huge sigh. "CloudClan, you scared me," I murmured, sitting beside the frozen water. "You found time to escape your duties?"

He smiled slightly when she leapt into the air, padding forward. "Yes, I did. Actually, surprisingly, I have plenty of time—I have an apprentice, even," he responded, standing beside her to look down at the ice. He sat down after a moment, looking at their reflections. "Are you okay?" He had always been pretty good at reading others.

I snorted. "I hardly have time, and I hardly do anything." It was obvious how little I contributed to the clan. I tried, but none of my skills were meant for living in IceClan. I felt exactly how I felt as a queen: a parasite, worthless, and useless except for providing warriors. I couldn't even do that now. His words broke me of my trance. "Hmm? Yes, I'm fine. I just wanted to see the trees."

Robinstar smiled sadly. "Y'know, I could have a warrior show you how to fish, or to fight like an IceClanner if you wanted," he suggested with a small shrug. "Are you sure you're okay? It's... a lot." He gazed out over the river at TreeClan's trees.

I shook my head. "I can't fight. If I do too much, my wound will irritate me. Fishing... honestly, I'm afraid of water. I don't know how you ever got used to it." I glanced at him. "I am. I promise. I just miss home. Warmer weather, birds, sunshine, and green. Here everything almost seems... monotone."

"Your wound will heal, won't it?" He asked, worry entering his expression once more. "Fine. We'll show you how to hunt water voles and hawks instead of fish. And we do have squirrels and birds here, yknow." He waited for a reaction. "The ice will melt. And when it does, it's beautiful here. Trust me."
