rowansky didn't know, hadn't known about the deaths. ridden with shock, driven to desperation, she had fled to the first idea she had in her jumbled brain—find her kits. there was no room for anything else. she should have known, should have listened to her gut when she first caught a glimpse of it.
her son, her beautiful son, badgerpaw, was dead. brave, selfless, too young. he was a hero, and rowansky didn't have the decency to notice until it was too late.
she ran as far as she could from the funeral of the two apprentices—they couldn't even be buried in their own home—and as deep into the unknown territory as she could allow herself to. there, she grieved, mourned, cried openly for the loss of her child, of her clanmate's child. the same numbness that came with her sister's death fell on her now. "i just wanted them to be safe."
(angsty thread anyone? this is open to anyone, clan or otherwise.)

Featherkit had followed her mother, almost loosing her scent once or twice but when she found her she almost wished she hadn't. She watched as her mothers shoulders hunched over, crying. Badgerpaws death hadn't affected her, she didn't really know him and she didn't fully understand death yet. Featherkit slowly stepped towards her mother, sitting down gently beside her." What's wrong?" She asked. She already knew the answer and she didn't know if her mother would want to vent to her own kit but she could at least try, she felt to bad to walk away now.

Buzzardkit was sitting tail curled. The she-kit turned to see Rowansky her mother and her sister Featherkit. She knew about the death of her half brother. It's probably the reason she's crying. Buzzardkit went to sit next to her mother and tried to comfort her

deep in her grievances, rowansky hardly noticed the arrival of her two daughters. one of the younger litters, still much too innocent to be tainted with horrendous events happening as of late. a sick feeling settled in the queen's stomach—was it her fault she couldn't shield them away from it all?
she raised her head slowly, green eyes sparkling with unshed tears. rowansky gazed at featherkit. she didn't know how to respond to her daughter's question, though she pursed her lips and attempted anyway. "i... well, i'm sad that your brother is going to clouclan so soon. you know he.." she paused, gathering her wavering strength, "he would have taught you so many things. been a good brother."
the ginger queen turned to buzzardkit and drew her closer, accepting her kit's silence as another form of consolation. young as they were, rowansky depended on them. she sniffled and made a weak laugh, "what on earth are you two doing out here anyway? could've gotten lost!"

Featherkit smiled at the thought of that, she had always wanted to be close with one of her older brothers." Its ok, he's happy now." Featherkit squeaked, smiling softly at her mother. " Pshh I wouldn't have gotten lost, I'm going to be the best warrior IceClan has ever seen!" She boasted, puffing out her chest. She leaned down and finally began to groom her fur, she had forgotten about it after the avalanche so you can assume how messy it was.

(omg im so sorry this is late yikes rip me)
rowansky nodded along, her daughter's optimism softening the blow of the death. "i hope he is. he can watch over us now from where he is." her green eyes looked up at the bright sky despite the stars not being present. her son was up there somewhere, she hoped.
featherkit, her darling girl. the ginger queen laughed softly and reached out to playfully cuff her ears. "pardon my mistake then! of course you're the greatest warrior. you are your mother's daughter, aren't you?" she purred, winking. "come over here, warrior. you're so dirty, and robinstar won't like his warriors to look all scraggly."

( Haha all good :3) Featherkit nodded along, agreeing with her mother and tilting her head up to look at the sky. She giggled softly as her mother cuffed her ears, rolling onto her back dramatically and batting at her paw. " Robinstar will understand that I'm messy, I'm busy kicking butt for him!" Flipping back over Featherkit sighed in protest but sat down anyway, allowing her mother to groom her. She missed spending time with her like this, it was nice. She brushed her head against Rowansky's chest affectionately, purring softly." Your going to be ok, right?" Featherkit looked at her mother unsurely, wrapping her tail around her small paws.

Buzzardkit puffed up her chest. "I'm never going to get lost because I'm a warrior" she boasted tail lashing. Buzzardkit then wished that she had met Badgerpaw before he had died. She looked up at Featherkit and smiled. "We will be the greatest warriors all the clans have ever seen" the pale ginger and orange tabby she-kit vowed

Dreamwish had been watching from a high stack of dry grass. She felt bad for Rowansky, she having to lose Badgerpaw. He would've been a fine warrior. Leaping off the grass, she suppressed a purr looking at the kits. Going towards Rowansky, she said, "How are you doing, Rowansky?"
