Avalanchekit stood from his nest, attempting to quickly smooth out his fur. Like usual, though, it didn't work. It spiked right back up, looking as messy as always. To others it would look charming, almost cute, but he hated it. He thought it made him look childish.
With a soft grumble, the white tom padded further into the barn, sniffing around various hay bales. He hadn't been on his feet for too long, as he was fairly young, and he was rather curious about his surroundings. So, he took the opportunity while his parents were away to look around the barn.

I necessarily wasn't too happy about the avalanche. Or the move. Or the anything really, thought hat was just how I was even despite the natural disaster. I had come down with a slight cold, though its effects were starting to leave me just a little snotty and a lot annoyed. I was padding through the barn, trying to work my legs so that I wasn't stiff and achy when my oddball of a mentor turned up to actually train me for once, but as I was looking off to the side at an elder eating some measly scrap, I bumped into something. This something was presumably another cat. I turned my head and caught sight of the spiked fur, my brows knitting as I blatantly stared. This had to be a joke, right? "You... uh... my only suggestion for that is to jump into a lake," I said with a broad gesture to his coat. "I suppose it is rather unique though."

Avalanchekit was pushe against the hay bale, much to his apparent annoyance. He whirled around to greet the attacker through clenched teeth, silver-blue eyes narrowed. He took a moment to shake out his spiky fur, removing small pieces of hay. "Excuse you," he mumbled through a mouthful of hay, which he spat onto the ground. The other tom wasn't much larger than him, but still bigger. Why did I have to end up so small while dad is so big? He glanced down at his spiky fur, which he was already conscious about, and immediately became defensive. "And my only suggestion for... you," he said, waving his fluffy tail in Ivypaw's direction, "is to jump in a lake. And stay there."

"I did say it was unique, no need to be so bitter about it," I said with a shrug. "Oh, how I'd love to take a nice swim. Thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid I'll have to decline. I'd rather not have to save your tiny tail from drowning." I sat back, inspecting him with cold, pale eyes. I curiously tilted my head at him. "What's your name by the way?" [/b][/div][/div]

"Somehow I doubt you meant that as a compliment," Avalanchekit responded, narrowing his eyes ever so slightly. The tom huffed at the tiny comment - he absolutely hated being small. He was supposed to be big and impressive. People had expectations of the leaders son, and it wasnt some tiny, sickly, spiky-furred kitten. "Are you that daft? I was hinting that you should - ah, nevermind. Let me spell it out for you. You should go drown in a lake." He sat back, tilting his head. "Understand?" At Ivypaw's question, his gray-blue eyes flicked towards the barn entrance, as if he'd be able to see his namesake from the barn. "Avalanchekit."

I snorted and gave him a look with a raised brow. "I never said it was a compliment. You're terribly bad at assuming things," I said with a lax shrug. "Oh, I know what you meant. I just frankly don't agree with it. I know how to swim, unlike some small little scraps of fur— ah, look! One happens to be right in front of me!" I said sarcastically with an eye roll at the fake enthusiasm in my voice. "Oh, how befitting. You don't seem large enough to fit into it though. I'm Ivypaw."

The fluffy white and gray tom snorted. "If it isn't a compliment, well, then you are very unique." He raised his chin, shifting out of the hay pile slightly more. "It wasn't a matter to disagree or agree over," he responded, exasperated. "Of course I don't know how to swim, and I'm not afraid of saying that out loud. Who would expect me to with rules so strict?" He said. As Ivypaw responded with his name, clear shock appeared on Avalanchekit's face, after the anger from being called small dissipated. "An apprentice? Ha! I'd assumed you were a kit—guess you don't fit into your name either hm?"

I rolled my eyes and lashed my tail. "I never said it wasn't a compliment either, so thank you. I suppose it's on how you take it. You didn't take it as one— I do. Perspective." I only gave him a passive stare, blinking quietly as I listened to him complain. Ah, was he in his rebellious phase. I paused as he made an attempt at insulting me, giving him a blank look. "If I'm small, then you're still in the womb. I suppose I'm not a plant or the color green, so you're right that I don't match my name, though I don't see as to why my body's size has anything to do with that."

"Mmhmm. 'Cept we both know how I meant it," he responded with a bright smile, as if he was being kind. "You really are daft!" Avalanchekit laughed, his tail flicking back and forth. "Is your name Ivy? No—Ivypaw." He shook his head, gray-blue eyes stormy. "I think it was quite clear that was what I meant—however, I'm not sure you're following. Would you like me to speak more simply?"

"It doesn't really matter how you mean it though, just how I take it. That's how misunderstandings happen, and I am quite tired of having to explain this concept to you. Please, stop being a snotty brat and accept that your words don't hurt me." I was relatively calm, my voice not snapping as I just sat there looking bored as I stared at him with half lidded eyes. "I'm of the age to be an apprentice. My size has nothing to do with how old I am. If that were true, you'd have to be shoved back inside of your mother," I said with a shrug. "Can we be done here? I'm sure slamming my head into the wall would be much more productive and thought provoking than standing around and being insulted by you."

Avalanchekit snorted, raising his chin. "What are you, practicing your self-empowering skills? Exciting," he said, eyes flashing. "Then, please, tell me why you keep bringing up my size? Appearance, for that matter, if it has no significance." He titled his head slightly, raising one nonexistent brow. "We most definitely can, though I must say that would be quite entertaining to watch."
