I let out a rather loud yawn before hopping out of my mother's nest. I could feel the adrenaline pumping from a hunting dream and I was ready to play some extreme mossball.

Beechroot had come to see his mother. It was as simple as that. He knew he had half-siblings, but he never talked to them. The warrior simply had no interest. Most of his half-siblings had a known father. A happy family. He was alone. He peaked his head into the nursery to say hello and instead saw Brookkit. "Oh. Hello."

I turned at the sound of a voice, head cocking in curiosity at the sight of such a big cat— well, he was big compared to me at least. I gave him a smile and padded forwards, stubby kitten legs rendering me slow. "You have to play mossball with me!" |

Beechroot tried to look past Brookkit, searching for his mother. He had never played much as a kit. "Sure. How do I play?" The warrior sincerely didn't know how. "I'm Beechroot by the way. Do you know where Sorrelpatch is?"

"You... you don't know to play? What?" My eyes widened in shock and I gave him an incredulous stare. "Well, you—" I tilted my head and paused. "I'm Brook-kit. Why do you want to know where mom is? I think she went out hunting with someone named Paleheart...?" |

Beechroot shook his head to her first question. He stared at her for a few moments and sighed. "I'm your half brother. We have the same mother." The warrior wondered what she was doing with Paleheart.

I blinked, taking a moment to process, before giving a wide and happy smile. "That means I'll be a big as you!" I hurriedly spun around, in an undeniably great mood now, and scooped up moss to roll into a makeshift sort of ball. I turned back around with the ball in my mouth and set it down in front of the warrior. "The goal is to hit it into the air between two or more cats and not let it hit the ground." |

Huh, this kit wasn't as annoying as the other ones. Her happiness made him smile. The game sounded simple enough. "Yeah, you sure will be as big as me." Beechroot mewed and looked down at the mossball. He put his paw on it and launched it into the air.

His confirmation of my hopes was exciting, my tail waving in determination to show off my mossball skill. Mossball was an important skill... right? Definitely. I watched him hit the ball up in the air with wide eyes; I'd never hit it that high before. I scrambled to get under it, using my last resort to bonk it back up. My face. Oh well, it worked though. |

Beechroot watched her focus on the ball of moss. When it hit her face, for some reason he panicked. "Be careful!" The warrior's eyes then flicked to the ball and he slapped it down closer to Brookkit's level.

I jumped at his warning, looking over with wide eyes. I then let out a laugh. "You're more protective than Mom is!" I grinned, a little surprised that he didn't share the same lackadaisical attitude as Sorrelpatch. I watched him hit a little lower and reached up to whap it with my paw to hit it higher up for him. Well... it depends on what you consider as high, but it reached around his chest, so that was good, right? |
