Hailpaw started laughing. "That's pretty good." She took a minute or two to get her breath back, then tilted her head. "Did you come up with that yourself? You could be the clan's comedian!"

Flintpaw brightened. "Yup! All by myself!" He was soaking in all of her compliments. "You really think so? Does every Clan have one?" The apprentice was only quiet and still for a few moments. "Do you have any jokes? Every cat has some humor in them."

"I don't know. But if they do, you should be ours!" She purred. It sounded like Flintpaw had really taken her praise to heart. She felt good about that. Hailpaw shook her head at his question. "Nope, I've got nothing." She didn't like her answer, but it was honest. 'I'd much rather laugh at jokes than make them, anyway.'
