Eager to get to training her new apprentice, Redfern was awake with the dawn. Slipping from the still-quiet warrior's den the tabby paused, giving the fresh-kill pile a thoughtful glance. Decided that she wasn't incredibly hungry she moved on, crouching down to push her way into the apprentice den. It was smaller than the long-legged female remembered.
Spotting her new apprentice, Redfern approached him with a toothy grin and jabbed the furry mass with her paw. "Rise and shine kiddo. We're leaving as soon as the sun is over he ridge, whether you eat or not is up to how fast you swallow down prey."
She wanted as much time as possible to work with Bearpaw, even if that meant pushing him hard.

Bearpaw squeaked when he felt a sudden paw come in contact with his side. "Owwwww," he groaned, "my squishy parts," the dark brown apprentice rolled onto his back and clutched one of his paws close to where he had been poked while he flailed his other limbs in the air. The tom peaked his eyes open to see if his mentor was still paying attention to him before rolling onto his paws and stretching his jaws in a wide yawn, his thick-furred tail thumping happily against the floor of the apprentices den.
"Guess I better started on that meal then, a hungry bear is not a happy bear," he patted his chubby stomach a few times before racing out of the den and to the fresh-kill pile to pick out something to eat, already high-energy and ready to embrace his first day of training.

Redfern humphed in dissatisfaction as her apprentice wailed. "Oh trust me, that's the least of your 'squishy parts' worries." She warned with a roll of her eyes. Under her watch, Bearpaw's chubbiness would hopefully not last long at all. She never made conclusions about others based on first introductions, but without really meaning too she'd already become nervous at the tom's training. Hopefully he'd prove himself to her and she'd be able to relax.
"Oh, I don't doubt it," came the absent agreement as she followed Bearpaw from the den. The red tabby didn't need food herself just yet herself. "Today I'll just be showing you a few landmarks and informing you on your duties as an apprentice."
