The sun rose, and Frostedkit woke. Long, dark, delicate-looking lashes fluttered open to reveal eyes the colour of bitter leafbare frost. Pale sunlight streamed through the cracks in the nursery walls, illuminating her pale fur. Her small form, barely discernible among her denmates, shifted drowsily and an inaudible yawn whisked from her jaws. She studied her surroundings, her watchful gaze catching the rise and fall of her denmates' flanks, and the scent of sleep and milk drifting towards her small, almost white nose.
Paper-thin ears twitched as they captured steady breathing and soft snoring - and a disturbance in the tranquil atmosphere; it was almost soundless, perhaps a shuffle of a kitten's paws, or a breath timed beside hers. Rather reluctantly, Frostedkit slipped from the circle of warmth formed by the curve of a queen's belly. Her milky breath slipped from her muzzle, floating up in strange, white wisps of clouds that dissipated with the cold dawn air. She examined her breath, transformed, for a few frozen moments, and her eyes met a familiar stranger's. "Hello?" she dared to query, with more curiosity than courtesy.

Bluekit stared deep into the eyes of the other kit, before simply responding, "Hi!" She had tons of energy that morning, and didn't know what to do with it. She examined the other kit from head to toe, her pale fur, her frosty eyes, she was a pretty kit. Bluekit looked at her own dull, grey-blue pelt, and sighed. Her energy was temporarily drained, before it rushed back and she smiled. "I'm Bluekit, may I ask who you are?" She questioned the other kit. Introducting yourself is the best way to make new friends, and thats what Bluekit was going for. She sat down and played with the dust under her paws, a soft breeze ruffling her fur around her neck.

❝ Frostedkit offered the kitten a tentative smile, and her slight form straightened slightly, self-consciously, as her pale blue gaze rested gently on her denmate. "You seem... energetic; isn't it a nice day?" she stated, her ringed tail curling in a circle around her minuscule paws. Her smile widened slightly at Bluekit's next words, and she bobbed her petite head up and down, her long, gossamer-like whiskers fluttering. "Frostedkit," the small female answered promptly. "Bluekit - I like your name, in its simplicity: you could've been named for the colour of your fur... or your eyes... or even both. Isn't it quite the mystery?" A half grin formed on her ivory muzzle. "I wonder... Could we be friends? Maybe we even have the same mother... I am adopted... but no cat ever told me that siblings had to be related."

Bluekit smiled and lit up with joy as she listened to Frostedkit speak. "Your right, we could be related!" she answered, accidentally forgetting to answer other questions. She looked around the nursery at the other sleeping kits and queens, then turned her full attention back onto her denmate. "We could be friends, if you'd like." Bluekit gave a small smile, and she was trying to calm down a bit. The other kit seemed a bit overwhelmed by her energy, so she stopped twitching her paws. "My mother is Dewmask," she mewed, looking down at her slightly lighter paws. Then, she remembered what the kit had said before asking her questions: I like your name. Bluekit was quite surprised by this, as she thought her name was dull and boring, like her pelt. Others might think her pelt shone in the sun, glistened in the rain, blended with the snow, and camoflouged in the night, but Bluekit thought it was just dull.

I peeked back upon the two chatting kits, having listened to their conversation out of boredom. Honestly, I was already sick of the nursery--couldn't apprenticeship just hurry up? 'Well, making a few friends can't hurt.' I reasoned, turning and scampering closer to the two, who introduced themselves as Bluekit and Frostedkit to one another. My ears perked up as I heard Bluekit mention her mother. "Hey, I know you're related to me, at least." I piped in, turning my eyes onto my supposed sister. "My mother is Dewmask, too." I then glanced back at Frostedkit. She said she was adopted... but who adopted her? It didn't hurt to ask. "What about you? Who adopted you?"
"Oh, and I'm Acerolakit. Nice to meet you both."

Bluekit turned with wide eyes to the new kit who seemingly popped out of nowhere. She said we were...sisters? Suddenly, she jumped up and padded closer to the new kit, interested. "I've never met anyone related to me before," she smiled, before adding, "though I've only meet three other kits."
