Lately, Ashpaw had been feeling a little lonely.
Not enough to lose his usual charm and perkiness, of course, but just enough to be a little quieter than he normally was. He didn't want to worry about it- he'd soon be back to his cheerful self, after all, but still. It was spring, now. That meant new life, new beginnings, and, he had noticed, more couples. Romance budded around him like flowers, and he couldn't help but feel a bit left out. He'd never had a crush on anyone, before, and stranger yet- he couldn't see himself liking another she-cat in that way.
Odd. Somewhat confusing, given the majority of couples he saw around consisted of a she-cat, and a tom. He wasn't too bothered by it, though. He would like whoever he ended up liking.
The problem was, he didn't like anyone in that way. He didn't even know too many cats, and even if he was young, he wanted to be somebody else's special...everything. Maybe it would be nice. Ah...what a hopeless romantic he was.
Better to leave that behind- find somebody new to talk to. Ash was always in need of a new buddy, after all. He made a point of approaching the nearest cat he found that didn't seem occupied with something else, a warm smile on his face. "Hiya! May I sit with you?"

Mistpaw was the sort of cat to be content with her own company.
She spent time observing the world around her. Sometimes chasing after things. Such as butterflies, spiders, and bright leaves that flowed in the wind. Her assigned mentor, Mothflight, had neglected her training and as such, she took it as a sign that she had been given a hefty amount of free time. Time where she had the ability to do what she wanted. Which was less try and make up training on her own and more so pursue her interests. Which were often rather idle.
She could talk to others... However, she often saw cats when they were around giving her odd stares. Possibly due to her being an apprentice for quite some time, yet still behaving in a way she'd learned that was attributed to kits and apparently she was supposed to have matured beyond that.
She thought it silly.
Nature was beautiful and was available for cats of any age to enjoy. Even if it seemed that most kits didn't seem to take the opportunity. Or most cats, for that matter. She never quite understood.
At the moment, she was gazing upwards and observing the fluffy clouds. Their various shapes and consistencies. Some were wispy, like furry cobweb fragments. Some looked like someone throw a newborn kit that was all fluff into the sky.
Then someone approached her. She didn't even look. They posed a question. "I have no reasons to deny you."

Ashpaw fumbled for a moment, partially surprised by the fact that the cat in question hadn't even looked at him, and partly because the response seemed so proper in comparison to what he had expected. He quickly got over the initial awkwardness he felt, though, brushing it off in favor of his usual obliviously happy self.
"Great!" Ashpaw meowed cheerfully, sitting down near Mistpaw, but not too close. No need to cramp her space. "I'm Ashpaw. You probably haven't seen me around, but I've been an apprentice for a while." He was doing his best to strike a conversation, honestly, he was just a little out of practice. Despite his eagerness to speak to others, he could be so horribly shy at times.
"What about you? How's your training been going?" he asked, genuinely curios as to how well Mistpaw's mentor was treating her. "Who's your mentor?"

Mistpaw heard some shuffling, but still did not turn her head.
She assumed the cat who quickly introduced himself as Ashpaw took his seat next to her. He provided some information concerning the fact that he was an apprentice. Then he asked a question of his own.
"My training is overseen by the warrior Mothflight." She meowed. "Mothflight has thus began to show me the territories, but had to leave in the middle of it." So, truly... Despite the fact that Mistpaw had been a warrior for a little while, she was basically untrained. She still wandered out of camp and figured out the territories herself. She made some educated guesses based on what she knew and what she had observed out there in the territory.
It never occurred to Mistpaw to offer up her name since Ashpaw never actually asked for her name.
