Creekpaw opened his eyes and frowned. "S-Sorry for what?" 'He didn't do anything. Unless I missed it because my eyes were closed? What if I said the wrong thing and missed something completely?'

Thistlepaw looked down at his paws. "I just... Never mind." He went back to licking his paw, keeping his eyes focused on it. A wave of panic swept through him. What if he had ruined him and Creekpaw's friendship? Why did he so desperately want Creekpaw to be his friend? It seemed like something that would never work but...

"Are-Are you sure?" His eyes grew wide. What was Thistlepaw hiding from him? Creekpaw shuffled his paws, glancing over at him to try and figure out what he was thinking. 'Should I just leave to make it easier for him?'

Thistlepaw nodded. He ducked his head, cheeks reddening. "It's just that, I may be clinging onto you. You are the first apprentice I have ever met, and I might just be lonely but... We don't have to talk again if you don't want to."

Creekpaw blinked. "U-Um..." He trailed off, finding himself at a loss of words. Why would Thistlepaw want to hang around him? He was just a stupid, timid apprentice. Even so, he knew he wanted to be around Thistlepaw more. 'But is that selfish?' "N-No, I'd like to talk to y-you again."

[Thistlepaw]

Thistlepaw couldn't help feeling surprised at the apprentice's odd response. Was Creekpaw saying that to make him feel better? Even so, Thistlepaw did want to hang around Creekpaw, even if that was quite selfish. He found himself feeling better, however. "I thought you might say no." He chuckled shyly.

"I thought you might say no." Creekpaw looked confused. "I-I thought you were the one who didn't want to be around me. Un-Unless you've got it mixed and you r-really do want to leave..." His ears folded back, and he drew his paws closer to himself.

[Thistlepaw]

Thistlepaw's eyes widened slightly in surprise. Did he do something wrong, to show he wanted Creekpaw to go? He hadn't thought so, but he was quite clumsy at times. "No, no not at all. I'm sure of it." He said, sounding sure.

Creekpaw glanced up at him, a hopeful smile starting to appear on his muzzle. Was he telling the truth? He sounded pretty truthful. 'I hope he isn't lying.' He looked back down at his paws. "O-Oh." He whispered, unable to think of anything else to say.

Thistlepaw felt himself blush a little. It was odd to him to be the one having to intiate anything, and he didn't know what to do to make Creekpaw feel better. They had just met, after all. "Erm. We should get to together sometime." He hoped he didn't sound dismissive, and looked down at his paws again.

A very faint purr rumbled in his throat. "That would be nice." Creekpaw mumbled, slowly moving his gaze back up to match Thistlepaw's. 'I really like this cat. I hope he isn't teasing me.' His smile grew a little more when Thistlepaw looked down. 'Is... Is he shy too?'

Thistlepaw felt more relaxed at Creekpaw's soothing purr. He felt a faint purr rumble in his chest as he looked back up, feeling at ease making mutual eye contact now. He hoped Creekpaw felt the same way about him, he couldn't be sure. "In that case, I'll see you soon?" Thistlepaw asked, sounding hopeful.

"Yeah. See you soon." Flicking his tail, he gave Thistlepaw one last shy smile before padding away. It was only then that he realized something. 'I didn't stutter!' He lifted his head higher in pride, wondering why that was so. 'Grandma said that maybe I wouldn't stutter around cats I'm comfortable with.' He took a glance back at Thistlepaw. 'Is he one of those cats?' Shrugging, he turned away and disappeared.
