It was bittersweet. His cheeks were still damp with tears but she never ceased to make him smile. He hadn't laughed in years. A smart chuckle sure. But a laugh no.

Patch smiled stupidly, she actually made Pain laugh. She felt triumph and rested her muzzle on his shoulder. "You okay, nerd?" She asked calmly.
