Beechroot entered the camp with a squirrel in his jaws. He padded leisurely into the clearing and dropped the prey into the pile. The warrior hadn't been missing, he had only been busying himself with tasks. After his scare with starvation and refusal to hunt, Beechroot was doing all he could to prove his loyalty to the clan.
He hunted every day, would watch the borders, and would visit the elders and kits. Always alone though. It was almost how he preferred life. He never had the urge to be the best he could until now. His health was back to normal. Food regularly entered his belly and the exercise from hunting whipped him into shape. It even made Beechroot feel better mentally. He wasn't as nervous anymore and it helped him build trust with the other warriors.
Something must have happened a few moons ago. The warrior finally felt a sense of wholeness. As if he wasn't empty anymore. It had strengthened his belief in Cloudclan which had been so small and weak before.
The golden tabby found a spot that was particularly sunny and settled down. He wouldn't called it a sprawl. Beechroot simply tucked his paws under himself and closed his eyes.

Dewmask had returned with a mouse, face up towards the sun and a brimming smile on her face. She had memorized most of the placements of the trees in the forest again! The tan she-cat placed her mouse on the fresh-kill pile, and decided to give herself a little mind break. Perhaps she could memorize scents? She padded towards a spot where she felt the sun beat down on her fur, but when she went to lay down, she scented a cat and paused. She didn't really remember this cat much; did she really meet this cat, once?
...Perhaps she had, and she couldn't remember? The blind cat meowed, "Hello there."
(sorry for the shortness BUT IT'S TIME FOR MORE INTERACTIONS. oh yeah, Paleheart is no longer Dewmask's mate. take this as you want.)

(Don't worry about the length of the post! It's okay ) Beechroot's ears pricked up when he heard footsteps. A familiar scent hit his nose. One that he hadn't smelled in a long time. The scent reminded him of his past. When his phobia of blood ruled his life, this scent was around. The tom opened his eyes and couldn't help but smile. "Dewmask!" He hadn't seen his mentor in a while. Beechroot blamed himself, not knowing about any of her disappearance. He rose to nuzzle her shoulder. "It's me, Beechpaw!" Dewmask had been such a popular and busy warrior when he was an apprentice. They hardly trained together, but he had always enjoyed spending time with her when they did. "Well, it's Beechroot now. I had my ceremony moons ago."Beechroot had just assumed she was there. He had understood when he couldn't find her, considering she was a queen too. His awkwardness had faded away for the cat he hadn't seen in such a long time. Beechroot wished she could see how much he had grown.

Dewmask hadn't expected the cat in front of her to jump up, judging by the sound of paws hitting the ground with a bit of force. The cat in front of her called her name out, then nuzzled her shoulder. She was about to question when he said his name. That sounded... familiar. Like... this was her old apprentice. One of the apprentices she left behind when she went to become a queen, then disappeared. "Beechroot? Sounds fitting." She commented on that first, a smile playing on her old face.
Goodness, her past was coming to her in different ways. First meeting her eldest daughter, then meeting her old apprentice. "I think you've grown a bit, if the fact that you can easily reach my shoulder is any indication." Plus, the scent was a bit bigger than the last time she remembered interacting with him. "Sorry for disappearing on you, Beechroot. How's warrior life been?"

Beechroot backed away a little to give his former mentor some space. He wasn't sure how she was about personal space and he definitely didn't want to invade. "Oh, it's great. I've been focusing on myself mostly." The warrior didn't realize how selfish that sounded until after he said it. He swallowed and looked past her. "I mean, I mostly do my duties on my own."
Every once and a while he would hunt with Rainspark, but now it almost felt like she got in the way. He used to play with the kits in the nursery daily because of his want to curl up by his mother again. Beechroot had never had littermates he could go to. He only had his mother. Leaving that nest made him feel torn. Now he distanced himself from practically everyone. Maybe with cats re-entering his life he would stop his newly formed ways. "What about you?"

Dewmask noticed that the cat stepped back from her, and was a bit confused about it. She did like space from other cats, but she knew this one, sort of. The blind she cat laughed to herself after Beechroot stumbled back on his own words. "Understandable, wanting to hunt by yourself." When her former apprentice asked Dewmask about her own warrior life, she frowned to herself.
"I've been trying to get used to all these trees again." Dewmask muttered, flicking her ears and remembering when trying to go through the territory for the first time in a while a few days ago. She tried to hunt a mouse and ran into a tree. "Being blind in a forest didn't really affect me until I disappeared." She sat down, licking a paw. "But I've gotten used to the territory, sort of. Talked with one of my daughters." The other 3 kits disappeared, according to Acaciapaw. "At least I don't run into as many trees."
(dewpaw running into trees and walls, the sequel: Dewmask readjusts to Treeclan and runs into even more trees.)

Beechroot's face was back to being neutral. She briefly talked about her daughters, reminding the warrior about when they were born. He remembered when they were made into apprentices and wanting to be their mentor. Almost to do his mentor a favor. They were assigned to another and he eventually got over it.
He hated seeing her being frustrated about her blindness. Most of the time he never even noticed that she couldn't see. All he remembered about it was that she tried to be the best mentor she could be. Even with the obstacles of no sight and being a mother.
"Well, if you want we could go on a walk. Patrol the borders while you adjust. I'll make sure you don't run into anything."

Dewmask perked up her ears, twitching her whiskers. "You would really do that for me? Thank you so much! It'll be nice to actually patrol the territory, get used to everything with a pal." A smile grew on her face again, and she got to her paws, sniffing the air for the direction of the wind. "If we get lucky, we might even catch a few pieces of prey on the way!" The tan she-cat tilted her head towards the exit of the camp, "Could you lead?"
(dewmask getting talkative now lol)

A...pal. Beechroot's whiskers twitched. Yes. He had friends. "Of course. You taught me when I was oblivious." Well, that was blunt but he meant well. He turned and headed for the entrance, briefly tilting his head to check that she was behind him. When she mentioned hunting he panicked for a second but it helped when he shook his pelt.
"This season will always be good to us." Beechroot knew leaf-fall was near, so he was enjoying the green while it lasted. He padded into the Treeclan territory. "Be careful. It rained yesterday morning but I'm afraid everything will be slick." The warrior glanced down into a puddle. His reflection rippled and he frowned.

Dewmask blinked at Beechroot's blunt-sounding words, but smiled as Beechroot's scent moved towards the entrance, pawsteps echoing in her ears. She padded towards him, and nodded at his mention of the rain. "All the better to help me." She mewed, looking her blind eyes out in the territory. This was the newest part, as she had left from other places in camp before. "Gotta learn to detect the muddy spots."
