I'll admit. There is nothing better than the warmth of my mothers belly. Or the squirming of my siblings next to me. But I didn't need all that stuff. I was big enough to be out on my own already. Well sorta. Okay I felt like I was ready. It didn't matter anyway, I was going to be better than everyone one day.
I awoke late into the day. The sun was already well up in the sky and cats were sitting together enjoying their afternoon meals. Psh suckers. I wanna see if any of them will notice me. Probably not. I'm to good at sneaking around to be spotted.
I gazed around the clearing to make sure the coast was clear before I began crawling towards the camp entrance. Suckers. They'll never know. I was just beginning to praise myself when I felt a shadow fall over me. And just as I was getting to the good part...

Cricketkit had been... quietly hidden in the nursery. She rarely talked to anyone else, and was actually annoyed by her sudden stop in her growing! She was almost an apprentice, and yet she was tiny. Well, no, not tiny tiny, but still too small to be deemed as an apprentice!
It must be her height that was toying with the leader's eyes, because she was totally prepared to fight battles abd patrol borders anyday, but her smaller size seemed to tell cats otherwise. Okay, she WAS SMALL, but she wasn't WEAK... in a way....
But being small meant not being a big and strong cat, so... bah! Genetics suck!
Her attention caught onto movement towards the camp entrance. And Cricketkit found herself watching a stranger kitten stalk his way to freedom, believing HE was ready for the outside world. HA! If anyone was, it was HER! "St--" She clamped her jaws closed sharply, a sudden fire sparking in her firefly golden eyes. Hurrying over to the kitten, Cricketkit found herself crouching beside him and whispering under her breath. "Come on, we can sneak out before anyone notices!"
After a moment, Cricketkit found herself glaring at the kit. "Also, don't give me any 'this is my mission alone' mumble-jumbo, because I am more than capable to go outside the camp. Probably a lot more capable than you, in all honesty... but that's beside the point! Come on!"

(Switching to 3rd person cause it's so much easier. Whoops.)
Dustkit growled slightly when the she cat decided to join in on his plans. Who does she think she is? I'm sorry, but who are you? And why do you think you need to come with me. He stated and plopped down on his rump. If anyone was gonna sneak out of camp today it was him. He didn't need anyone to accompany him.
Her glare startled him. Gosh why so angry. I didn't even do anything. He found himself flinching away from the other kit. Yeah okay... Fine let's go then. He grumbled and with a flick of his tail he began his slow stalking towards the entrance once more. We better not get caught now that I have this one with me.

Cricketkit gave her eyes a playful roll, as if it should be obvious to who she was. "I can give you a whole list if my happy face alone doesn't convince you enough." she said with a speck of sarcasm, as her face didn't look very happy, but it wasn't long before Cricketkit appeared amused. "For one, I'm older, and would literally be able to fight off anything compared to you... don't assume the shortness is weakness while you attempt to judge me... also, I've never been out of camp before, because stupid Spiderstar thinks shortness means age and I'm well beyond the point of being amazi--" Cricketkit found her own jaws closing, wincing at the fact her voice had risen in her childish rant. She was just trying to be funny... and smart... and make good points.... "Sorry... but... well, I'm Cricketkit. I've been in the nursery for... um... nevermind, I lost count of the days. But that doesn't matter -- who are YOU now?"
Although, she seemed to brighten as the tomcat accepted her into the sneak-out-of-camp-plan. "Yes!" she chimed in her sweet voice, before giving a little hum that reminded Cricketkit of what she was named after and following his slow stalk. 'I hope no cat spots us... I mean, I did see him... but maybe no one else will?'

What was she going on about? Stuck in the nursery... Short... Spiderstar... Ahh... He quickly shut his mouth when the she cat stopped talking. Okay maybe it would be better to go with someone. But.. Okay Cricky, can I call you Cricky? You are more than welcome to tag along, but I don't need a bodyguard. Yeah. That seemed a little rude but whatever. She needed to understand that he was capable of things himself, even with his young age.
Dust. The name is Dustkit. Plain and Simple. He always did like being straight up with people. It was something he thought everyone should do.
Well she seemed happy to be going with him. It couldn't possibly be that exciting. Well, okay maybe it was a little exciting. Okay a lot, but she took some of the excitement away when he was sneaking around by himself. Oh well, it never hurt to have company. Lets go before someone sees us...
(Assuming we have permission? I was thinking he was gonna get caught so I didn't think he was actually gonna get this far. Umm... Also I can see things happening with these two. S'cute)

Cricky? What the heck kind of nickname was that? Cricketkit scoffed, giving Dustkit a sour look. "Cricky? Seriously? Can't my nickname be something cooler other that Cricky?" Biting her tongue in thought, because this was literally the most important thing in the world at the moment, Cricketkit scoured her mind for plenty of nicknames. Finally, she settled on just a shorter name. "Cri. Just Cri. Like crh-ih. Half of Cri-cket. That sounds pretty." Ha! She didn't need someone else to nickname her, because she made waaay better ones for herself!
But now this kitten needed a new title for himself. Because he was friendly enough to let her tag along. And his name was.... "Dustkit? Oh! My father is called Duststorm!" she piped up excitedly. 'Weird.' "I guess that means we're meant to be friends, right... hmm... Dus?"
Cricketkit smiled widely at the order. "Right, Captain!" she chided, before her eyes widened. "Wait -- that's a way better nickname than Dus! I'll call you Captain! And totally yes, I may be a bodyguard"
{ i thought they would get caught, too! but we should probably message Spiderstar for permission to actually go into the territory... and we'd have to hope someone does join to roleplay to eventually bring them back to camp. ^-^ also yes, I see some cute things between the two, but no promises for the future! }

Dustkit smirked and sat down. This needed to be discussed. This matter was go serious to just blow over. But I like Cricky. If you are allowed to call me Captain, I am allowed to call you Cricky. Although Dus sounds rather good. He stated. And if he was allowing this she cat to call him Captain, only she was allowed to do so. It can be our little names. No one else is allowed to call you Cricky, and no one else is allowed to even know of my Captain nickname. Dustkits nose scrunched at the sound. It was so weird.
That is a rather unusual situation. Maybe it does mean we need to be friends. It's not everyday you meet someone wth the same name as your father. Dustkit laughed a little and flicked his tail over his paws.
(Maybe we just keep them in camp. They can go explore around and maybe discover something. Not sure though...)

Cricketkit stopped when Dustkit did, and she sat down with him in confusion. Though her fur bristled as he again called her Cricky. "But I--" she stopped, scowling, as she let him finished talking. Hmph. Fine. Cricky was just fine, even though it sounded stupid and she gave him a waaaay better nickname. "Fine, fine, fine. Whatever you say, Captain." But hey, it was a fine trade. As long as she got to call him 'Captain'.
(actually, the nickname comes from a book I read... the one girl always called him Captain... and she was my favorite character in the whole serious.... Cress! <3)
Yet Cricketkit began to smile warmly at the mention of friendship. "Yeah! But then again, we're not just friends because of that reason. That's just rude." the little tortoiseshell retorted, snapping her head up high with pride. "You're brave enough to try and sneak out of camp. Which means, you're the perfect friend to have! Imagine how much trouble we can get into together!"
{ yeah, maybe we should just keep them in camp... good idea ^-^ }

Dustkit smirked at the obvious agrivation that her new nickname gave her. Finally, though, Cricketkit agreed to his conditions and to his nickname. She was rubbing off on him. It was good to have a friend. So it's settled, Cricky. Adding a teasing wink at the end.
Well he didn't think that was the only thing that made them friends, although if it was another thing that needed clarifying he would gladly put his thoughts in. Of course it's not the only thing that makes us friends. Perhaps partners in crime. Causing trouble is my specialty, and having a partner wouldn't hurt. A miscivous smile played on his muzzle. You're not to bad there yourself, missy. Another laugh. Dust was just glad he had made a friend.

Cricketkit scowled at his teasing wink, but did not fight it.
Though she did smirk at his words. "Same with me. Or, well, I guess I haven't done anything big to make me a troublemaker. But I'm so ready to try crazy things!" And at his compliment, she herself winked at him. "Of course, I'm the amazing Cricketkit. I'm amazing!" She gave Dustkit a once over. "Someday, maybe you'll be as awesome as me."
