DewmaskThe warrior's den. A chilly place where all of TreeClan's brave warriors slept. And where Cricketkit would someday as well!
And someday technically meant now, because she was so ready to receive her final name and fight things!
Yet she had one flaw in this plan -- her size. CloudClan forbid she be a tall and broad-shouldered cat like her father Duststorm. Because if she were like him, of course Spiderstar would have made her a warrior, whether she was moon old or twenty-five moons old! And yet she was small... she was small depite having a long tall and tall ears that didn't fit this tiny body!
"Pfft." Cricketkit blew out a breath of air. "Stupid height."
So her ultimate decision? Get into the warriors den and live there. No one noticed her in the nursery, so why would the warriors den be any different? That's right, it wouldn't be!
So she was stalking... closer and closer to the entrance of the den... and no one spotted her... of course not... right...?

"Don't think I can't smell you." Dewmask mewed, her thin and lithe form looking over Cricketkit's form. "Are you trying to sneak into the warrior's den?" Her tan fur sort of reflected the sun, though she wasn't sure if Cricket was going to stop at her words.
"Well, you have to wait. You may be on the verge of apprenticeship or only two moons old," Dewmask didn't know how big the little kit was in comparison to her eldest daughter, "but you'll still have to wait quite a few moons."
(caught by the blind cat. Hehehe)

{} Haha! xD
Cricketkit squeaked in alarm, bouncing up almost three feet into the air. She landed with a hard thump on her stomach, winded for a moment, before she raised her head and finally spotted the source of the voice.
She pouted at the she-cat, and made a face. Although Cricketkit didn't know this stranger was blind! "I'm totally ready now though. I'm tired of sleeping alone in the nursery, so now I wanna sleep alone in the warrior's den!" she piped up, pushing herself onto her small paws. Cricketkit shook out her tortoiseshell fur, looking away. "...Can I sleep in there for just one night? Please? No one will miss me in the nursery, and I promise to be very quiet!" She dashed over to the warrior's flank, bounding up and down with her pleading. "Please, please, please? I'll be so quiet, no one will even know I'm there! And maybe I'll sleep with Papa, too... pretty please with a mouse on top?"

Dewmask's blind amber eyes met the kit's pouty face, and she shook her head. "I can't let you do that. I'm pretty sure I'd get in trouble." The tan she-cat placed her tail behind Cricketkit. "I can't even use my blindness as a potential excuse, my scenting skills are beyond other cats."
The tan she-cat smiled, licking a paw and rubbing it over her head from nervous habit. "Besides, you can beg your father to play with you. Or even me, if you wished."
(whoops there it is)

Cricketkit lowered her head sadly, the pout still in place. She... supposed... she didn't want her to get in trouble. But still.... 'Wait....' her head rose in alarm. "You can't see me?" she asked, her firefly golden eyes widening. Quickly, Cricketkit pushed herself up on two legs and waved her paws dramatically in the air. "Not even when I do this? You can't see this?"
The kitten dropped back down to her paws. "But why not? Is it because you don't want to see anything?" She didn't understand how blindness worked.
Pausing for a moment in thought, especially at the idea to play a game with Duststorm, Cricketkit considered her options and then the situation. Slowly, she put on a wicked smile, pretty sure now the warruor wouldn't see it and think something was up. "Can I play with you, then? ...In the warrior's den?" Yes! Two birds with one stone! ...whatever that means.

Dewmask heard the kit as she jumped up and down, and made an amused expression as she asked questions. "That's not how it works. As in, I was born without the ability to see. Can't get it back, and I won't ever get it back." The tan she-cat sat down, blinking her amber eyes. "According to what I was told, my eyes don't have any... er, black pupils. It's just amber." She listened to Cricket start to talk, and started to laugh when she asked to play in the warrior's den.
"Sorry! No means no, my dear... er. What is your name, kit?" Dewmask asked, placing a tan paw forward, hoping that she placed it in front of the kit.
(hey look you're an apprentice!)

Cricketkit slowly began to feel bad to the she-cat. For a moment, the little tortoiseshell had thought being blind was cool. But the way the warrior had explained it made Cricketkit convinced otherwise. The kitten leaned closer, eyeing the amber orbs of the she-cat, and confirmed there were no pupils. How scary. Cricketkit stepped back. "Sorry...." she murmured, sulking a bit. Of course the warrior wouldn't let her into the den, especially after teasing their own blindness, which hadn't been her intention.
Cricketkit's pout worsened as she was further denied entry into the warrior's den, but quickly she shook off her own worries. "It's okay, I guess." she mumbled, now brightening. "I'm Cricketkit. What about you?"
{ hey, yeah, she is! ^-^ thank you! }

(welcome!)
Dewmask blinked. "It's alright, I'm used to it. I HAVE been living with it my entire life." The tan she cat smiled, getting up from her sitting position and drawing her paw back. "You'll get to sleep there in the future, just not right now. I'm Dewmask. Nice to meet you, Cricketkit." The tan-furred warrior hummed to herself, thinking. "What game would you like to play? One of my favorites as a kit was playing as leader and deputy." I remember playing with Mothflight- hey, that's another thing I remember!

Cricketkit shuffled her paws, still feeling a little guilty, but she felt better when the warrior introduced herself. "Dewmask. That's a pretty name." the compliment slipped out before she even realized it, and Cricketkit slapped her own tail over her mouth, ears flattening with embarrassment. "O-oops... I said that out loud... hehehe...." At least she said something nice! That was a plus!
Dewmask asked about a game, and the tortoiseshell gave another happy bounce. "Oh! That's Warriors!" she cried with a gleeful meow. "Yeah, yeah! Let's play that! I'll be the amazing and super pretty Cricketstar!"

Dewmask nodded, a little embarrassed. "Yes, uh, thank you, Cricket." She mewed, sitting back down and draping a tan tail over her paws. After Cricketkit's declaration of being the leader of this scenario, Dewmask bowed in her head in pretend respect. "Then I shall be your loyal deputy, still Dewmask." She mewed, before getting onto her paws again. "Well, Cricketstar, I have reports of border infringement from Fireclan. Shall we move to the rock to discuss what we should do?"
Dewmask remembered that rock well. She did rest on it quite a few times as a young kit, and apprentice. She may have taken up the rock with her entire, lean body, with her being grown up, but she was sure Cricketkit would easily fit onto the rock.

Cricketkit stood up straighter at the respect her deputy Dewmask was giving her, feeling pride bubble up in her chest. Ha! She would be an amazing leader! No question about that! Although she did wonder what a big word like 'infringement' meant, she didn't question it, and only nodded stiffly. "Of course," the tortoiseshell spoke in a regal voice. "Lead me to this... rock...." She hesitated, eyeing Dewmask's blind amber eyes, before shrugging. Obviously Dewmask knew the way if she suggested it.

Dewmask knew what that slight hesitation meant, but no matter. She padded towards the rock, a bright smile on her face as she remembered the days she had played on it as a kit. She sat beside it, waiting for Cricketkit to catch up to her and get onto the rock. Once she heard Cricket get close, she mewed, "As I have told you, Fireclan has walked within our borders and stolen some of our prey. What do you think we should do, Cricketstar?"
("what does infringement mean" hilarious)

The little tortoiseshell smirked as she leaped onto the rock, still remaining prideful and uptight. "Oh? Those dumb FireClanners." she accused in a strong voice, turning to look at TreeClan's clearing as if it was swarming with all of her warriors. "They don't know who they are messing with. Dewmask, prepare everyone for battle!" Ha! FireClan could never beat TreeClan! A rabbit-eater never could, and never will!

Dewmask nodded, as if she were the most loyal deputy in existence. "I will do so, Cricketstar." Dewmask padded around in a circle, eyes blinking, and mouth mewing in invisible mews. She really enjoyed taking a load off, if the blind cat was completely honest. "They have been gathered, Cricketstar. Should we leave some warriors behind in case another clan invades our borders?"
(sorry it's short, i forgot I needed threads to reply to)

{ it's fine ^-^ }
Cricketkit seemed to glow with the imaginary power, looking over her 'warriors' with the look of a leader. She chuckled. "Leave warriors behind? Never! Even our kits are as powerful as the greatest cat of LeopardClan! We will take everyone, then, if you are afraid Dewmask. And show FireClam we are much stronger than they could even hope to imagine!" Haha! She was an amazing leader!
