To long. We're just gonna say it's been to long since this black tom cat was around camp. He'd explained himself over and over. Now it was just a sob story. And he didn't like that. He wanted someone to talk to. It's been forever since he talked. And he loved to talk. The morning sun shown through the clouds every so often. It seemed like the clouds were waiting for it to rain. If so, then bring it. Darkkit loved the rain. He sat his little body down in front of the nursery and watched the sky. Where is everyone? He wondered aloud. Cricketpaw

Cricketkit stepped out of the nursery, feeling the small rays of sunlight touch her tortoiseshell fur. She peered around the clearing for some company, and found a small tomkit by himself. So, of course, she dashed over to join him. "Do you think it'll rain?" she chimed, taking a seat beside him. Her muzzle rose to the sky, eyeing the clouds carefully. "I hope it doesn't. 'Cause then it will get really, really cold."
She still didn't like the rain. Or, well, she liked the rain... she supposed... but not when it was cold. When it was cloudy and began to storm, Cricketkit would get scared of the thunder, but find the raindrops pelting the nursery den created a soothing song that settled her worries. Except it brought a cold wind into her nest. And since Cricketkit slept alone in Meadowlark's old mossy bedding, the remnants of her mother's scent often helping her sleep, nights were always a little bit too chilly. The rain only added to that cold. And Cricketkit hated the cold with a burning passion.

Dark turned his blue eyes towards the she kit that had approved him. He was being approached by many she cat lately. Well maybe not. His sisters didn't count. Okay so maybe this was the only one. But company was company. He enjoy any kind. I think it will rain. I'm hoping it does. I love rain. It's really soothing, in a way. He giggled, turning his head back to the sky. Cold? I'll keep you warm. It wasn't meant to be flirtatious. Just a friendly gesture. He was just that type of cat who might just be a little to friendly. Oh well.
The name is Darkkit, by the way.

Cricketkit huffed at the mention of the rain. "Well, it is a nice sound to listen to." she mumbled, before her fur began to bristle and heat up at his next words. The tortoiseshell leaned closer with a sharp glare. "Hey! Don't get any funny ideas! I can perfectly keep myself warm, thank you very much!" she snapped, leaning back to her original posture and turning her head away. Cricketkit scowled.
But after a moment, the tomkit introduced himelf. Slowly, Cricketkit's scowl faded away, and she gave him a wary glance of her firefly golden eyes. "I was named Cricketkit by my Papa." she said slowly, and then a small smile took over her features. "It's nice to meet you, Darkkit."

Darkkit jumped back, frightened by the she kits words. I-um... He fell silent and stared down at his paws. He hadn't meant to make her angry. He just wanted to be friendly. Maybe I'll just stay quiet. I wouldn't want to anger her any more than I have already. Suddenly her mood seemed to change. Cricketkit is a nice name. His whisper sounded a little to soft. Maybe To soft for Cricketkit to hear.
He shuffled a little farther from the other kit, still frightened by her recent outburst. A pleasure meeting you. Again his voice came out as a whisper...

She barely heard his words. Had she scared him. Slowly, Cricketkit turned her eyes to the clouds above, and then back to Darkkit's expression. "I didn't scare you, did I?" Even without an answer, the she-kit sighed. "I'm... sorry. I'm not actually angry. Or, well... I like to think I'm just being dramatic."
She looked away again, now a note of sadness in her tone and expression. "When I was younger, at first I wasn't very friendly or talkative. I didn't have any friends. So then I thought, maybe I should be friendlier and talk a lot. So I tried that, but I still didn't get any friends. They all just disappeared. And now... I thought that maybe if I tried to be myself, whether I'm mean, or nice, or not very funny... someone will be my friend." Cricketkit frowned, giving Darkkit a glance. "But I guess I'm just scary now, huh? And scary cats don't get friends, either."

The tomcat raised his head to listen to the she cat. No don't be sorry. I just... It's... He stammered over his words which caused him to just shut his jaws. She was a nice cat, and he hadn't meant to hurt her feelings, but she did scare him a bit. I will be your friend. I don't have much of them other than my siblings. It would be nice. He smiled and moved closer to the she cat to show that he wasn't scared anymore. And being yourself is always a good thing. Don't think it's not. Nice save.

Cricketkit gave his a sharp look as Darkkit offered to be her friend. "Are you sure...?" she hesitated, unsure how to respond. Slowly, though, she began to glare. "Don't just be my friend out of pity, either! I'm not the friendliest of cats in the whole world, and I can be loud and annoying too!"
Slowly, she lowered her head again. "But... if you're sure...." Cricketkit looked away, her firefly golden eyes unsure. She didn't know how to reply to his last words, so she only shrugged.
