Hailspirit had gone out for a walk. It'd been a week or two since she was last out in the territory, mostly because of her kits. Motherhood was a lot harder than she had anticipated. 'I don't know how Brackensky does it.'
Sighing, the small she-cat stopped at a puddle to drink. She didn't realize how close she was to FireClan's border until the scent wafted toward her. She lifted her head. The scent was a lot stronger than it should've been. 'Someone must be near.' "Hello?"

Tidepaw seemed to always be bored, but then again he was only really born into the clan around early Newleaf. So he didn't know much of what was to come with the advancing months. He had heard stories though, of the hardships when all the prey would disappear and the clan would be living off a few starved rabbits a week. It sounded absolutely horrifying, but at the same time he couldn't wait to get away from the Greenleaf heat.
In his boredom the young tom had managed to wonder particularly close to the Rockclan border. Not the smartest move since he had never really met too many cats from the other clans. All he could think about as he drew nearer was a rival raiding party tearing his small blue-grey body to shreds. In fact, he had gotten so close to the border that his scent must have drawn over it, or at least he had been spotted as he heard a foreign hello.
So stopping dead in his tracks he parted his jaws and called back, "Hi! Sorry... didn't mean to disturb you..." Craning his neck he looked around for the other feline, spotting her ginger and white pelt next to a boulder. "Rockclan, right?"

"Oh! You're not disturbing me." She was surprised by how polite the cat was. She was sure it showed in her tone of voice. She stretched up and padded closer, taking a seat within a tail-length of the scent line. Hailspirit nodded. "Yeah, I'm a RockClanner. And you're a FireClanner, aren't you?" She let out a giggle, almost like it was obvious that he belonged there. "What's your name?"
She perked her ears as she waited, assuming that she wouldn't recognize the name. She'd only met one FireClanner, and that was Fangshadow. He was so nice. 'And this cat doesn't seem so bad, either. I wonder if all FireClanners are kind.'

He was relieved that she didn't seem hostile, he was in no mood for a fight. She seemed sweet enough, and oddly relaxed. The rival clan cat even sat down, probably even expecting a conversation. Shrugging he padded forward and sat on the opposite side of the border about a fox-length away.
"Yes I'm a Fireclanner," he snorted, a small smile creeping over his mussel. "They call me Tidepaw."
He knew he wasn't technically supposed to be out in the territory alone, but apprentices did it all the time and no one really seemed to mind anymore. Gave them things to do rather than just sit around in the camp.
"What about you?" He continued, looking up at her. "You have a name... Rockclanner?"

'Tidepaw.' She repeated in her mind. That was one unique name. "Nice to meet you, Tidepaw." She said softly, getting a good sniff. It was surprising to hear that he was an apprentice. She would have guessed warrior based on his mannerisms.
Hailspirit smiled when he asked the question back. "Of course I have a name. I'm Hailspirit." She moved her head in the direction of his scent, hoping it was spot on. In reality she was looking a little to his left, but it was close enough.

"Hailspirit, that's a pretty name." He purred, smiling at the older female. Looking for a smile back he tried to pinpoint just exactly where the she-cat was looking. Was there something behind him? He thought to himself, turning his head around his shoulder and scanning the territory behind him. But there really wasn't anything besides a lot of grass.
Craning his neck to the side a bit he put himself directly in her gaze, "Is there something behind me?" He mewed, checking again once more just to make sure.

"Thank you. Tidepaw is a very nice name, too." The compliment made her smile just a little, though she tried to hide it. That could very well have been a sarcastic comment that she didn't catch.
The warrior sniffed the air when he asked a question. She couldn't smell any other cat- or thing- besides him. "I don't think so." She said slowly, just now realizing why he would've asked that. She sniffed for his scent again, then tried to move her head to look directly at him. "Sorry if I look like I'm... Looking somewhere else. I need to get better with that."
