After whispering a goodbye to her kits, Hailspirit exited the nursery and headed over to the apprentices' den. She was excited to give her closest friend her assessment. Finally she'd have someone to talk to in the warriors' den.
She poked her head inside. "Sli! Assessment today." She purred, backing out. 'I've never given an assessment before. I hope I can do this correctly.'

Silentpaw had gone to sleep late that night, that was what happened when she was nervous. She was wondering if she was going to do good or not. The apprentice snapped awake as she heard Auruoa's voice, she lifted her head and stared at her mentor.
"Coming." She said sleepily, standing up slowly and walking outside.

Hailspirit smiled at the sound of approaching pawsteps. She then started to lead the way out. "I think you'll do really well. It'll be over before you know it." She said, hoping to calm some of her friend's nerves. She slowed up as they moved down a sharp decline, then turned around once the ground was flat again. "Catch two pieces of prey, then meet me back here for the battle portion. You'll have to pin me down to win. Good luck!"

Silentpaw nodded slowly, and followed her mentor. As Hailspirit started explaining, Silentpaw relaxed a little. That wasn't too hard, right? It wasn't impossible. She watched as her mentor sat down and continued, the apprentice nodded her head in understandment. She turned and walked away to hunt.
Silentpaw was decent at hunting, it was just the walking that made her weak. So she kept a short pace, it wouldn't alert much prey anyways. Her ears pricked up and heard the pawsteps of a shrew. She smiled and crouched down. She saw the brown fur and launched herself at it, but the shrew was too fast and dodged in time. Leaving Silentpaw on the floor. She got up quickly and chased after her prey.

Hailspirit followed behind silently, only stopping when the wind stopped blowing her way. She didn't want her apprentice to know she was there.
She held her breath once she caught the scent of a shrew. 'Is she gonna go for it?' Her question was answered by the pawsteps that followed. She bit her lip, claws digging into the ground in anticipation when the chase took off. 'You can do it!'

Silentpaw was a fast runner, despite her lack in doing so. She quickly cut of shrew off and killed it quickly, she picked up its frail body and looked around for a soft patch of dirt to bury it. In a few minutes of searching, she found a nice spot and buried the shrew. She thanked Cloudclan and searched for the next and final prey of her apprenticeship.
It took a little while for Sli to catch the scent of a sparrow near the Treeclan border. It might of crossed over. She caught sight of the sparrow and stalked up to it. She pounced and watched as the bird soared to the skies. Ugh. She got up and kept searching.

Hailspirit held back a purr as she heard Silentpaw make the catch. She once again followed behind, making sure not to get too close. She froze, catching a whiff of the sparrow. 'Does she smell that?'
It sounded like she did. The warrior listened closely, expression remaining the same when she heard the bird flap its wings and take off. 'That's okay. I know she'll get the next one.'

Silentpaw caught a whiff of her mentor as she walked onwards, she pretended not to notice. She paced around on the rocks and saw a little mouse. It was probably an infant. She flicked her ears. She passed by the mouse and searched for a parent.
The black apprentice studied the nearby area, and slashed quickly at the sight of a bigger mouse than the one from before. She winced slightly at the blood and hurried back to where her mentor originally was.

Hailspirit started backing up once she caught a whiff of mouse. This was an easier prey, and she knew her friend would be able to catch it. She started heading back to their meeting spot, wanting to be there on time.
The warrior waited patiently, holding herself in a crouched position. Once Silentpaw arrived, she leaped out and tried to tackle the feline down.

Silentpaw had returned to the meeting place only to be tackled by her mentor. The apprentice winced and tried to slash at the she-cat's stomach, claws sheathed, of course. She coughed quietly, but didn't take note of it. She tried to smile.

Hailspirit squeaked and rolled off when Silentpaw batted her stomach. It still felt sore from having fed her kits. Catching Silentpaw's direction from the sound of her cough, the warrior hopped to her paws and raced over. She swiped a paw underneath the she-cat, hoping to trip her up.

Silentpaw shook her head and tried to ignore squeak and she dodged not as graceful as she wanted to. The black furred apprentice lowered her ears and tried to tackle the full grown warrior.

Hailspirit fell on her side once the apprentice attacked her. She struggled under Sli's weight, hoping to wriggle free.

Silentpaw stood for a few moments, the dust making her cough. She stared down at the warrior and thought over what Hailspirit said about the assessment. She had to pin the warrior down to pass, right? She took a deep breath and asked, "Um... Are we done?"

Silentpaw was too strong, and Hailspirit found herself trapped under the she-cat's grip. She smiled at her friend's words, and answered with a nod. "Yeah, we're done. Good job."
