give me time and give me space Whitepaw couldn't help but grin and move gently from paw to paw in excitement that he was going to catch his first piece of flying prey. He stayed silent as he watched Dapplecloud chase the winged creature, feeling a little anxious that he was going to mess up at the sight of a sharp beak flying straight towards his face. His ears flattened to his head when it began to make its way towards him, however, he still lashed his claws at it, trying to kill it so it didn't shove its sharp face into his own.

Dapplecloud As I leapt forward, I landed heavily on the ground after swiping at the feathered animal, watching for a second as Whitepaw flailed his claws at it. Bounding forward a few paces, I called, "Try and pin it down, before it flies away!", though staying near in case he needed help. (Sorry, I can't just say you caught it because it's technically powerplaying )

give me time and give me space Whitepaw nodded frantically, leaping upwards to try leap upon the bird as it began to fly upwards again. Luckily, his long legs helped him and he ended up succeeding in catching the bird. He bit into its wings and neck, crippling and killing it before looking down at the feathered animal. His piercing blue eyes shined witg pride as he looked back up at Dapplecloud, joking, "I think I'll stick to prey that can't fly."

Dapplecloud "Indeed." I purred. "It's certainly harder than hunting things like mice." Glancing yet again at the sky, I nodded. It was sun-high, enough to cover battle practice as well. "You can bury that bird here or with your other prey, though once you're done, meet me in the clearing where we first practiced hunting." It was clear and soft, so no one could fall off a cliff or run headlong into a tree. I turned and started to jog in the direction of the clearing.

give me time and give me space Whitepaw nodded,,picking the bird up and taking it over to the claw marks he had made earlier. He began to dig in the spot, dropping the bird in when he saw the vole that was caught earlier. He covered it back up and made some more slashes in the dirt.
The apprentice then made his way back towards the clearing where he was instructed to go, sitting in front of Dapplecloud as he waited for more instructions.

Dapplecloud I nodded when I saw him enter the clearing. "All right, we'll start with battle tactics now." I said, standing. "First things first: every Clan has a different fighting style. FireClan cats are small and quick. TreeClan will use the terrain to their advantage, and IceClan is, again, much like us, relying on strength." Pausing for a second to let the words sink in, I continued. "Of course, this means size isn't everything: I've been beaten a few times by cats half my size." I added, gesturing at the deep scar on my foreleg, a reminder of a clash with FireClan. "Try and attack me, claws sheathed, as though I were an enemy warrior." I said, turning and walking until I was several tail-lengths away. A practical example would be best to start.

give me time and give me space Whitepaw listened intently as hs black ears stayed pricked so that he could properly hear the instructions given. He couldn't wait to try out some battle moves- those were his favourite because he knew that for a at of his age, he was a talented fighter... Better than he was a hunter anyway. He nodded his head and crouched down, making sure his hooked claws stayed sheathed. He got into a good position to pounce before wiggling his long tail and leaping at Dapplecloud, excitement visible on his face.

Dapplecloud I watched him prepare his pouncing technique as he leapt at me, almost as though hunting prey. Of course, I sidestepped him, explaining as I walked over to where he had landed. "You took a little too long to prepare." I said, purring. "Battle is very fast-paced, and it's usually best to run around your enemy, if you're fast enough." I thought for a second, then added, "Though if you're fighting a warrior that's small, like a FireClan cat, it's best to match them the best you can, or use your size to your advantage: deal out heavy blows, or roll if they jump on you." Being a common RockClan cat: large, heavy, strong, but slow and an easy target for a smaller cat or two, I often relied on these tactics.

give me time and give me space Whitepaw nodded, his pelt covered in dust as he had landed on his flank and rolled over rather than landing on his feet. Hey, he had expected a cat to cushion his fall. He shook his fur and lifted himself back up, walking to his previous position. "Would you like me to try some of thse?" He asked, "Or is there something specific you want me to try?" He asked, waving his tail.

Dapplecloud I thought for a second at his question, sizing him up. He was fairly tall, being the size of a young warrior, though judging how he had first tried to spar, he would be fast enough to fight like I had showed him. "Let's see how well you can try the first tactic I mentioned: running around and getting blows in when you can." I said, backing up a few pawsteps and demonstrating a few quick blows, by lifting my sheathed paw and raking it across the air, as though slashing an invisible target. "Of course, the enemy won't know you're about to do it, like I do, and you'd have your claws unsheathed, which will give you more of an advantage." I motioned for him to start.

give me time and give me space -This is so short, sorry,-
Whitepaw nodded, getting ready to try and do the technique that he had been told. It seemed a little difficult as he was more of a tall, muscular cat, rather than a small and fast one.. His opponent also knew that he attack was coming which made it seem even more difficult. "I'll try," He grinned, beginning to run around Dapplecloud in circles, occasionally swiping his paws at her.

Dapplecloud (It's fine! I'll be posting less since it's the school year, too, and I'm procrastinating on the ten billion problems I have to do xD) Noting how he was starting to run around me, I turned only to feel blows upon my side, showing he had been fast enough to avoid a very late swipe in his direction. Landing heavily onto that paw, I said, "Not bad! Though you will need to counter at some point." Seeing him appear on my other side, I reared up, both of my sheathed paws outstretched to try and land the blows on his shoulders.

give me time and give me space Whitepaw nodded as he continued, feeling as if he was actually doing a good job... But that was until Dapplecloud aimed blows at his shoulders and he was knocked over, skidding across the ground. He grumbled a little, looking at the ground beneath him as he lifted himself, the left side of his body grazed a bit. "This is harrd~" He said, extending the word.

Dapplecloud "Well, it is an important skill to learn, say, if enemy warriors attacked the camp." I said, shrugging. A cliche, but it was a realistic situation. "Hmm... Try imagining yourself to actually be in the battle: you need to improvise quickly and use simple tactics until your enemy is beaten: it doesn't always take the most complicated moves or abilities." I added, padding over to the other edge of the clearing. "Rest a bit and come at me when you're ready. Or, I could come at you." I stood, simply watching him.

give me time and give me space Whitepaw nodded. He tried his best to imagine the scenario, although that wasn't making training any easier so he decided to just forget about it and speak some more, moving backwards slightly. "Could you just come at me?" He asked her, blinking his bright eyes. He didn't yet know how to start a fight, only how to continue one, so he decided that he would let her start and observe how she did so. The apprentice offered a small smile as he waited for the attack.
