Echo loves her family. She loves them with everything in her. From her happy little mewls to her tiny pulsing heart. Yet she can't help but wonder. 'Why am I so different...' She looked a lot different from her family. From her dark grey and black tabby pelt, to her ice blue optics. Not to mention, she has absolutely no brown or ginger on her pelt anywhere. Of course, her brother Asterkit has some grey on him, but it's different. And not only is there the matter of her looks, but her scent. She'd noticed just the day before that her scent is...strange. Every cat she's met, from the nursing queens to the visiting apprentices, and even the newest kits, they all share the same aspect of scent. She sort of came to assume it was just the scent of home, of Rockclan. But she'd also come to notice that she lacked that scent. Her's was musky, strange and different compared to theirs. She had no idea where she's from, but something is telling her it isn't here. She doesn't want that to be true.
And so, in effort to distract herself, the kitten finds herself looking for entertainment. Having learnt to walk now, though still a little wobbly, she pulls herself from her mother's nest and goes for a wander. Her tiny ears perk forward with curiosity, her little black nose twitching as all the scents tickle at it. Her eyes blink slightly, tail twitching behind her as her ice orbs spy upon a feather. How it got there, the young feline has no idea. And she has yet to actually know of what it is. So, with fur puffed a little, she crawls forward paw by tentative paw. When she gets close enough, she reaches out a paw. Maybe she's not quite close enough though, as her outstretched paw misses by a hair. Twitching her whiskers, she unsheathed her tiny needle like claws and snags the feather. As she draws her paw away, quick as lightning, it follows her.
This particular fact elicits a tiny squeal from the young kit. She rockets backward, and when the thing still follows her, she shakes her paw violently until it floats back to the ground. Trembling just a little bit now, but still perked up with curiosity, the kitten sheathes her tiny claws so as not to mimic the action. Once she's stilled her body and regained her confidence to approach, convinced that it's probably dead now, she slinks forward again. It shows no outward signal of noticing her approach, so she moves her tiny body ever closer. When it still doesn't react, she decides it must be playing dead. She giggles slightly. "You're good at this" She complemented, hoping to draw out a response from the aforementioned feather. It doesn't answer her, so she giggles again because it's really good at this.
(this is what happens when you don't know what a feather is )

(Intimidated by the well written paragraphs but I'm still here)
Silentpaw had been trying to do some work around camp, it was a way that cats didn't yell at her, she never liked being scolded or yelled at. As she walked into the nursery, moss in jaws, she caught a scene of a kit trying to kill a feather. Huh, that wasn't anything you see everyday. She felt like it was weird that the kit talked to the feather, but she couldn't judge, the apprentice herself was strange, or at least she thought so. After a few seconds of nothing happening, Sli walked up to the kit and the poor victim.
"... Having fun?" Silentpaw said quietly, her voice muffled by the moss. She didn't really recognize at first, but she remembered seeing this kit in the nursery with Sandstone. So this was her sister? At least she wasn't the only weird colored cat out of the bunch, only having the slightest of brown under her eyes, and the rest being pitch black.

(Hehe, sorry. And hullo again! We met with Flurry my characters are all weird)
Echo's eyes flicker wide as her attention is jump started back to the nursery she is currently being housed in. The voice doesn't sound very young, so she assumes they mustn't be a kitten like herself. Besides, she doesn't smell like milk anyways. The older feline does, however, sound friendly. Abandoning her feather, she turns to peer up at the dark furred feline with a curious gaze, head tilted to one side in a questioning stance. Her blue orbs stray toward the moss in the other's mouth, and she blinks slightly. "What you doing?" Her voice is young and has a innocent ring to it as she eyes the moss, tempted to dpreach for it with a paw. She stays herself and instead twitches her tail. She then notices she didn't quite catch the she-cat's earlier question, and ducks her head slightly in guilt, before deciding she'll merely appease for it.
"What's your name? And who's your mama?" Her ears perk forward because she likes to know cats, and this feline has a familiar scent that's just tickling the edge of her nose, but it's faint due to being out of the nursery so long. "I'm Echokit! And my mama is Sandstone." She doesn't bring up that she's not so sure about that one despite striving to be like her and the other kits. She just doesn't seem to smell right, and certainly doesn't smell like her siblings do other than the scent of her mother from sharing a nest. Instead she grins and peers past the older cat before meeting her gaze, her own orbs glimmering. "Are you doing apprentice chores?" she asks, eyeing the moss again, before peering around at the other nests. There's a lot. It must be hard to do by oneself. "Can I help? I gotta learn somehow, right?" She wriggled slightly in anticipation, tail twitching because she really wants to see what it's like to be an apprentice, and if this teaser will aid her in that, then so be it.

(Oh, hi! And sorry if this is a short post, not much long post muse on le phone)
Silentpaw flinched back at the kits rather happy-go-lucky behavior, not too used to it. It had been awhile since she'd been in the nursery, more or less even see a kit. Did they even change from when she was a kit. She opened her mouth to speak, but was onslaughted by questions.
Sli sighed and thought it over a bit before responding to the smaller she-cat. "My names Silentpaw, or Sli for short. Sandstone is my mother too, so I guess that makes me your big sister. Um... Nice to meet you, Echokit!" She shuffled her paws. "And yeah, cleaning out the moss, that's what I'm doing... And sure, just don't mess around and your fine."

Echo frowns as the older cat flinches. Did she do something wrong? Then she was hit with another thought, 'Maybe there is something wrong with me...' She tried to shake of the thought, but hung her head a little anyways as she sat down, peering up at the new cat with the sad expression of a scolded child. She always thought something was wrong with her. She smelt different. She looked different. She even thought different. Her ears flutter back and forth as she picks up shuffling her paws slightly from the older cat.
She only now realised in her excited little mind that the feline had been just a moment away from speaking when she'd given her too many things to answer. This caused the kitten to hang her head more so in guilt and shame. "I'm sorry if I'm asking too much. I can be quiet." Her voice is but a soft and innocent note, and she raises her head slightly, icy optics gleaming with hope because if being quiet can make this cat happier then she'd ba happy to do so.
That hope in her eyes widened into fascination, however, as the older feline introduces herself as Silentpaw, and states that they must be sisters. At least she's not the only odd one out then, right? Her eyes waver over Sli's dark pelt, then flit to her own. The older has a bit of brown under her eyes, Echo notes, yet she herself has not a trace of any color of her parents. She tries her best to shake of her slightest bit of sorrow at her difference, and instead offers her now founded older sister a grin, hoping it makes up for upsetting her before. Echo opens her mouth, about to ask more questions, yet checks herself and closes it again so as not to bombard her once more. "It's nice to meet you too, sis" She says instead, keeping her smile in place.
The young child rises to her paws once more as her sister allows her to help. She's not sure cleaning the moss is exactly the best job to do, but she'd heard checking the elders for ticks was much, much worse. Twitching her ears forward to catch the last of her sister's words, she offers an obliging nod. "Okay, I promise I'll behave." She news, her voice sincere as her eyes glimmer at not only getting a taster of being an apprentice, but also of spending time with her older sister. Echo casts a curious look around the den, eyeing all the nests, before turning her attention back to the moss hanging from the Raven feline's maw. "So, what do I do?"
