Basilkit had, surprisingly, never been outside the nursery in his time on the earth. He always looked outside and found it to be too dreary or too cold or just not the right time. So he played happily inside and did what he could with what he had. He was getting antsy though. He wanted to do something new and after living in the nursery for so long there really wasn't anything left but the outside. Basilkit didn't want to just wander out one day, oh no, he had to make it big.
It was the middle of the night when the young kit snuck out of the nursery. He yawned as he slipped carefully around all the other sleeping cats. Sure he was tired, but tonight he was trying to be as sneaky as possible, so he had to leave after he was sure everybody would be asleep.
Basil paused at the entrance to the nursery. He didn't know if he was ready now that he was there. Fear gripped his heart at the unknown variables of the outside world. He stared down at his brown paws and wondered if he would every actually leave the nursery. Tears began to well up in the young kit's eyes at the idea of being confined to the nursery forever. He had to do this now.
so Basilkit leapt out into the night. His clumsy jump brought him crashing into the ground and he rolled a little bit before he stood back up and looked around. A grin plastered itself across his face. He was out! His eyes glanced rapidly at all the things he hadn't been able to see from the nursery. The moon lit everything up enough for him to see, but he felt like it might be even better in the daytime. He couldn't wait!
Basil wandered over to a den that resembled the nursery and quietly peered inside. Apprentices slept in nests here. Basilkit quickly backtracked, not wanting to be caught and scolding for being somewhere he wasn't supposed to be. Instead he found a nice little tree and settled down underneath it. The kit let out another yawn as he looked up at the stars that he hadn't been able to see before. They were beautiful.

Brightpaw had always been a rather light sleeper and was caused to awaken as small paws make a cute *pitter patter* along the soft earth. She raised her head with confusion. It was so late who could that be. Being small she really didn't have to worry about staying clear of overs and slipped out of the apprentice den with sad ease. As she scented the air she wanted to purr with amusement it was a kitten still up, and out for that manner. She spotted a small brown hued form. With warm optics and smile she headed to his side. "Hello Darling what brings you out here so late?"

At the sound of a voice Basilkit felt all his fur stand on end. He hadn't been expecting somebody to notice him. At least they didn't sound mad at him. He regarded the apprentice slowly and smiled at her. "I'm here to..." Basil trailed off as he spoke. Did he really want to tell her why he was here? It was supposed to be sneaky recon mission so he probably shouldn't tell her if he wanted to actually keep it a secret.
"It's a secret." He stated instead. He puffed up his small chest to make him seem like he actually might be on a secret mission and not just sneaking out of the nursery at night. He yawned again and blinked the sleep out of his eyes.
"What brings you here?" He repeated her question. He hoped that he hadn't woken her up when he had looked into the apprentice's den and that instead she was up for some other reason. Basil might feel bad if he had woken her up. She probably had to train or something in the morning and he was ruining her sleeping.

She hadn't meant to scare him as he bristled she smiled again. Cute little thing wasn't he. "Oh a secrect, is that right well I guess I'll never know then" wide shimmering optics and a soft expression she added as the question was thrown back to her. "Well I do enjoy moon high conversations, and was just hoping you wouldn't mind keeping me some company" she grinned hoping he wouldn't turn her down.

Basil smiled at his stellar secret keeping ability. This apprentice didn't suspect a thing, at least in his eyes she didn't. When she answered his question as to what she was doing he thought for a second. Really he was just pretending to think, because he really had nothing better to do than talk to this apprentice, and she seemed really nice.
"I suppose I could stay and talk to you for a while." He stated. Basilkit wrapped his tail around his paws and looked up at the older cat. "So what's your name?" He asked. He hadn't met a lot of other cats, mostly just knowing his family, so he hoped that this meeting would end well.

She was more than amused as he seemed to play it off like a cool cat, "Well I guess if you could spare the while. Oh silly me, I'm BrightPaw. What is it you are called?" she looked him up and down and decided it would be near impossible to guess with all the new and crazy names she had been hearing. "You often come out here in the middle of the night?"

Basilkit smiled and nodded when she stated her name. Brightpaw was a good name. He hadn't met anybody that had the same name, but then again he hadn't met a whole lot of cats. "I'm Basilkit." He told her. He thought for a second. Did he just completely ruin his stealthy outing by telling her his name? What if she reported him to one of the queens for being out so late? "But please don't tell anybody I was out this late. I'm supposed to be sleeping right now." He said afterwards.

"What a handsome Name," she smiled widely. When he grew riged with fright? she wanted to laugh like she of all cats would turn the cute thing in. "It will be our secret," she grinned. "How many times you been out of the den?" he looked little so she woud guess maybe five sun highs if that.

When Brightpaw said that she'd keep his secret he let out a little breath of relief. He wasn't exactly sure how his mother would react, but his sister would probably scold him for being so reckless. Or maybe she would praise him. Basil couldn't always tell what the older cat was thinking. When Brightpaw asked him how many times he had been outside of the nursery Basilkit's ears grew hot. "Um, w-well, I've definitely seen the dens before." He mewed slowly. He wasn't sure he wanted to tell the older cat that he had never been outside of the nursery in case she thought he was just some dumb little kit. She was an apprentice and older than him and he wanted to make a good impression.

Basil had been vague about how many times he had been out of the den so it made it seem more than he really had, but the older cat wasn't fooled. She guessed that it was his first time and he groaned and put his head to the ground. "Is it that obvious?" He asked, seemingly heartbroken by the idea that he appeared as inexperienced as he was. Basilkit was always one for the dramatics.

At the mention of tomorrow Basilkit's ears perked up and a large grin made its way onto his face. "Yea I will be!" He exclaimed. He was going to impress everybody with his knowledge of what was outside the den. They would all think it was his first time and he'd know nothing, but in truth he would have already seen it. Basil smiled up at the older cat. "You really can't tell anybody you saw me now. At least not tonight. Maybe tomorrow night you could as long as it doesn't get me in trouble." Basil told her. He nodded his head as if his word was final.
